Sadly it looks like my suggestion that we should all wear goggles and snorkles in memory of Gay Meadow, hasn't taken off.

Would have looked really good on TV, too...

I can't believe there's so much riding on this game! In a mini slump, first derby against the sloppies in ages, live on the telly, both sides really needing the win...

Really hope the team is up for this one. :D

Shrewsbury under the cosh only one shot on target and now in front. Time for Smith to earn his money and get a result out of this. Common the lads.

Thrashing the sheeploving inbreds and still losing! The first 25 minutes was magnificent, as well as I've seen them play this year - but we didn't score. The bloke next to me at Bescot always says we need one more to win when we go 1-0 up. Afraid its true, we aint going to keep many clean sheets if we defend like that at a corner.

Cmon Boys!

(btw - wiziwig has loads of good flash links if the one you're on bombs out)

I admit I haven't seen us live for a while......My observations are no strength and so desperate for a strong centre midfield and striker . Good effort shame.

First half i Thought you should Of gone in at the break in front.

You've got no cutting edge at all.

This is a poor Shrewsbury side as well. It might be just one of them days, but after watching you Tuesday against a league 2 side ( we are equally as good as half in league 1) you clearly need a striker. Where's that grigg?

If hemmings is a league 1 player then so am I. Awful.

After this utter horror of a result when so much on top especially in the first half just shows what another hard season awaits us after the fruits of the first few matches have died. Only way now seems downward ever faster. :( :(

What a bloody travesty. Walsall played good football all the way through and coudn't get the ball in the net. What a travesty. I'm absolutely gutted that a poor Sloppies team could get the one lucky break and we couldn't get a goal for love nor money.

I don't understand the lack of cutting edge comments. If you mean no ruthlessness in front of goal then I agree, but it wasn't for a lack of clear cut chances. We must have had four or five in that game, not to mention the shots from Cuvelier and Paterson. It might look like we don't create much just because of the amount of possession we have.

Taundry is dire. How dare he shoot at the end when we were crying out for a cross into the box? Every time he touched it we looked approximately 50% worse. I lost count of the amount of times a team-mate was demanding he play it short and he kicked a long ball straight at a Shrewsbury player. Holden did most of his defending at right-back too. If ever a team had a weak link, it's him.

On the positive side, it was good to have Chambers back. Improved us no end IMO.

No way a deserved defeat, probably should have been a victory though the sheeprapists were probably just the better team in the 2nd half.

Good game against a poor team (looked 4th div still). My real concern was that our striking options were Williams and Brandy ffs. WE NEED A F***ING STRIKER!

That is what I mean by lack of cutting edge. Poor finishing and the inability to get players in the six yard box is the problem. Two x one on ones today and numerous other attempts on goal without an end product.

Yeah, I'd agree. Chambers was the worst miss - most times you'd expect Bowerman to score his chance. But Grigg, Paterson and Cuvelier haven't found their shooting boots yet this season.

Great first half but if you don't take your chances this is what happens.chambers chance was criminal and the writingwas on the wall. Second half Turner sussed us out and they probably should have won by more especially after our substitutions. We really have a thin squad. Brandy and Hemmings are not good enough and both seem to have a very bad attitude.Get rid of both very quickly!

Missed chances and decent goal-keeping cost us very dear, but it stands out a mile that we are far too lightweight up front, and for all the excellent passing football I think we'll continue to struggle unless we strengthen with a player that can hold the ball up front and bring others into play.

Particularly galling that Shrewsbury deserved nothing and took all three points, but that will happen too many times this season if we stay as we are.

Just hope Cuvelier will be back next game, because we lost a lot of presence when he went off.

Definitely three more points chucked away for me, criminal.

How frustrating was that? We should have been three up in the first 15 minutes, and it was always going to be difficult to keep that momentum going with no end product. Cuvelier being clattered several times and going off injured was a significant point in the game, his replacement Hemmings looking like he could not give a flying proverbial. Perhaps he thinks he should be in the starting line up? Perhaps he should have a stern look at himself because he was poor overall today.

Good support by the sounds of it, at a venue that has as little atmosphere as our own.

Very disappointed in the result, but at least we are trying to play the right way.

He is very frustrating to watch, to say the least. But give me him over Hemmings all day long.

No. Don't do that. JUST GIVE THE KID A BIT OFCOACHING. I agree with your comment about him shooting from everywhere, Motty, but team orders should knock that on the head.

Now that I have had time for more mature and measured reflection on the game we just lost, I think I can say that, on the whole, overall, and taking all events into account, including the fact that the ref for once was half decent (although he didn't have to make any peno decisions), so, yes, I can say with all due consideration
I'M STILL BLOODY GUTTED

Once again we look toothless up front. We were devoid of any ideas when Flo and Baxo went Off.

But more importantly more rubbish substitutions by Smith. Serious questions must be asked. Not good enough.

Nicky Featherstone is class.

Jamie Paterson is rubbish.

O'Kelly in.
