Too many people on here seem more bothered by the stigma attached to the signing of a striker over the age of 32 than what they can actually add to the team.

My take on this. Club is in a bit of a rot with striker options. Every season we seem to have a Grandad has a striker and obvious we need pace. Everyone knows why player A has a decent career and bit like a horse needs somewhere to graze his final days.

Hoping for 2 players under 30. 1 year contract with option of a 2nd. Non league/League 2 or even Championship players with a point to prove,please no more oldies. The excuse of oh they bring experience and on there day can bang in a few goals getting a bit thin

Even get loan players in like Yeovil and Obika. Plenty of neighbours to ask Wolves, WBA even Villa.

If you're after pace, then why don't we try & sign Jo Kuffour? He's been released by Gillingham & everytime he's played against us he's caused us problems.Scores a few as well.

ive watch hemmings play he is a very good player with pace wich we don't have and can score a goal or two :)

lower leagues M8 they are there. Stats prove it. Seem like we took a punt on Constable and Deeney then it dried up. Even now it's difficult though with how much some of the top players in conference or BNP as they call it now went for.

Loan players I would go for do the homework and do a season loan. Actually trust Smith as well did well with Flo and Mantom. I'll take anything over a OAP.

Remember Tommy Mooney? Despite being 36 years old when we signed him, he's probably the most effective striker we've had over the last few years.

Don't agree with the we won't need a lethal goal machine comment. In my view if we can get a striker who isn't past his sell by date and has the potential to knock in 12 -15 goals a season we can push on. If we just go out and get a Macken mark 2 striker we will go sideways.

Do remember Mooney well was a fave of mine. Not knocking the oldies at all. Just got to the point with me where I have been watching every home game for past 2 seasons relying on old war horses is not the right approach,

You've got a very simplistic view of where the problems lie. What about our wingers, who barely created any goals between them all season? Or the central midfield that did nothing until the arrival of Cuvelier.

Macken did struggle to play two games a week and we were right not to offer him a new contract - but to suggest a younger striker will be the answer to all our problems is a tad naive, methinks.

It's not hard is it. Simplistic errr ok It's from watching every home game from the past 3 seasons bar 1-2 games. Out of interest do u go games often just asking as just wondering where your comming from with your points. [Not intended as a swipe]

Past 2 seasons we have had a old warhorse and it didn't work look at the stats they don't lie. Didn't say a young striker will be a answer to our problems. What I was saying is a younger striker who is capable of knocking in 12-15 goals and then has the potential to stay with us long term.

As for the wingers well we didn't really have out and out wingers all through the season. That adds to my view of u need a striker who has a bit of pace to create for himself.

As for Flo my take was Mantom and Flo.

Can see we have 2 different fair enough will be interesting to see who we go with. Vassell, Super Kev Conn = Ground Hog day.

No offence taken. I've been to 90% of our home games for about the last 9 years - and a fair few away from home too.

Finding a striker who can create chances for himself is near impossible, unless you're playing in the Champions League.

Former loanee Andrew Davies has signed a one year deal with Bradford City after being on loan there for most of last season. Centre half isn't really a priority position for ourselves but from what I've seen of him, thought he could cut it at our level at least.

Have to disagree.....We are not going to go the whole season with Buts and Smith playing every game. Injury's and suspensions and then what? Beevers as stand in? Another good CB is def a requirement.

Oh yeah you're right. People seem to be saying for £3k-£4k a week. Incidentally, Williams to Swindon for £5k a week (mentioned further up) seems to be close too. Overpriced :?
