News this morning is that the EU has blanked May's latest pipe dream, affirming their rejection of our absurd cake and eat it philosophy.
News this morning is that we've surrendered our financial passport, opening the door to Paris and Frankfurt becoming the EU financial centres at the expense of our 20 billion surplus.
News this morning is that the British Chambers of Commerce appeals to protect economic growth rather than pander to a silly Brexit wish list.

All these are facts.

Statements that the entire 34,000 populace of Gibraltar is suddenly now a unanimous Brexit enclave are as inaccurate as they are irrelevant.

Radio 4's Today programme came from Gibraltar this morning, so I assume that's where the uncredited story is supposed to be from. Can you give the approximate time of this story? I must have missed it.

But then again, a £200 million investment from a foreign company into the British economy is rather insignificant news

Except it's contingent on 'future major orders', which rather flies in the face of your Facts not prediction appeals.
But, good. Just struggling to find how it's come about due to Brexit. As has already been discussed (Swampy was bigging it up also) every country gets investment. Even North Korea. Hence why you look at growth rates and GDP which take everything into account. And UK growth is down.

Let's see how the Japanese react to us losing our EU customs status before throwing a party over 600 jobs which may or may not reach full fruitition.

Nothing so far. Maybe I can help. Was this what you referring to?

'"We're very linked to the UK, we see the world through British eyes and we don't want to change that," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

"But at the same time, we believe we should be engaging more closely with Spain. I think we can create, even despite Brexit, a rainbow of opportunities for people who live in the bay of Gibraltar and the wealth that Gibraltar creates."' (BBC)

Hardly "embracing" "a great opportunity," is it?

And it is looking like the Italians want out

To be honest, the best bet for our selfish interests is if the whole thing disintegrates and we are there to fashion a new set of rules. But that's a pipe dream I think. It would probably split into zones of influence, with Germany leading the main block.

It will disintegrate anyway. I doubt there will be an EU in 15-20 years time.

Oh yeah, just like the UK was going to be forceably integrated into an EU army?

Oh wow. Meaning you can avoid the other inconvenient facts detailed in my response? Not one of these jobs has been created, but there you go, Brexit is over and we'll golden.

Siemens plans to start building on the site later this year. There is no specific timescale for opening the factory, which will depend on new contracts.

And there's still no link to Brexit. Keep dreaming.

I love it that you and Manchester have spent the last few months worrying about the plight of the poor London based bankers. The same bankers that you both previously claimed were not much better than demons that were at fault for the last recession.

It's not about the individual bankers though, it's about the wealth generated from the financial activities of the country. I do have issues about their conduct in certain areas and the redistribution of that wealth to areas like the West Midlands. I think you'll see that they are different though and relinquishing a proportion of that 20 billion is economically damaging, yes?

I've never mentioned a bloody EU army! Closer military cooperation with countries we share similar values with is sensible (as long as ultimate control is held by the individual countries).

I do have a concern that the ultimate aim of the EU is a USofE, which I'm totally against. You can't have social, legal, financial and economic decisions being made for "states" as different in every regard as Greece & Germany (to name but 2). It won't and can't work.

Perhaps he's just curious about you trying to staple together the nefarious dealings of a sub-set of bankers to which the entire country felt rightly aggrieved, to an alleged hypocrisy about how losing London as the EUs financial centre is a poor and totally avoidable economic choice?

And you had the audacity to sneer at my response to Pinnacle?

Someone, and perhaps you can remember who, once snapped that I was, quote 'talking cack'.

What, now it was a work of carefully concealed comedy genius? Go back and read it, then inform me where I've so clearly got the obvious hilarious quip so very wrong. It wasn't even a response to you.
