Have a cup run, receive some dosh, use dosh to replace our current players? I think I've found a flaw in your plan :D

They had their chance at home and blew it. Our turf now!

0-0 AET, Saddlers to scrape in on penalties after the last one goes in off the keeper's butt.

Comment from a Lincoln fan if that is okay

Tue Nov 13, 2012 1:28 am

Elderly Imps fan in peace. First off it has been suggested that we regard this as our Cup Final and while I fully understand the reasoning behind that I do not think it is true.

Of course we are looking forward to the game (or I hope we are) but our main aim, after several disastrous seasons, is to be competitive in the Blue Square Premier (yes, I know) and then kick on from there if possible.

The Directors may well regard it as a Cup Final because our club is totally skint and I would think, but do not know, that our players are on about a third of what your experienced players are on.

Whatever the bookmakers say (on another thread) you are quite clearly the favourites for this game. I have read this board and many of you are clearly disappointed with your team/players so far this season but the gap between League One and the BSP is quite considerable I would suggest.

We've had more lows than you lot have known so far (and I don't wish those on you either).

The odds are mightily stacked against us I would think but I hope it is a good game whatever the result and over and above all else I hope we come and give a good account of ourselves - in defeat if that is how it is - and at least let you know you have been in a game.

We are CERTAINLY NOT League One standard but at our level of Beasts and Monsters we are no longer frightened of anyone which is a massive improvement this end.

In all honesty I think the best we can hope for is that you lot make lots of mistakes. All I want is for my lot to give it a really good go so I can stay proud whatever the result!

Same team (unless we have injuries I don't know about) as against you, Braintree and Barrow I would have thought.

PS: Really like the poster on your board who has a Walsall trolley as his Avatar. Travelled on same many decades ago to Bloxwich (don't ask) and every time they went over points or a junction all the lights went out............

We very very rarely win on penalties. Maybe we're due one.

That's a nice post, I always wondered what happened to Lincoln - I could have sworn you were in the play offs in League 2 for at least 2 seasons in a row before falling from grace. Plus I like your nickname "Imps." Currently our nickname should be "Plebs." So anything could happen tonight!!

How many "Imps" would you imagine are coming?

The odda on a Lincoln win have been cut to a best offer of 5-1. most of the high street bookies only offer 9-2.

I think it was FIVE seasons in a row - without ever getting promoted. Now that's disappointment!

I think this game is very important tonight. We need a cup run for the finances but also for the supporters and we have a situation where we should, no doubt be making the third round.

It would be completely unacceptable to lose tonight - the manager should be sacked or resign if we do.

However.. I dont think we are that bad yet. We should be beating Lincoln at home if we play with respect and professionalism - but mostly with pride.

Lincoln have failed to score just 4 times in 21 attempts this season, albeit against mostly non league opposition.
So will we be able to keep a clean sheet for the first time in 15 attempts, thats the question?
Walsall 3 Lincoln 1.

In all seriousness, we know now that Lincoln are no mugs and that this will be a tough game. A win should breed some kind of confidence and end the barren spell, which is sure to be playing on the players' minds.

I'll go for a 2-1 home win.

Praying for a win tonight, but suspect that I'm going to drive back to suburbia pretty pissed off as I cant see where a win is coming from at present. 0-1 in extra time.

He has indeed, starting to look at Herefords results since we signed half of their staff.
