Leyton Orient (H) League 1 Saturday 6/8/11.

Sun Jul 31, 2011 8:11 pm

New season is it me or are they coming around quicker .

New hopes .new Dreams , new era under Dean Smith .

The O's finished last term 7th missing the play offs by just 1 point , club chairman Barry Hearn as promised the entire first team squad a trip to Las Vagas should
they reach the play offs this time round , Deano should be given the freedom of the borough should we make it.

How the O's finished last time out.

Carlisle - home -drew 0-0
Exeter - away - lost 1-2
Peterborough - home - won 2-1
Carlisle - away - won 1-0
Tranmere - home - lost 0-3
Plymouth - away -won 4-1

Prediction
2-1 home win.

Walsall 1 (Macken) - 2 Orient, ( Cureton, Mooney)

A wake up call for the Saddlers as a second half smash 'n grab by Orient inflicts a defeat for the first game, Smith to give em a kick up the rear afterwards and a much better performance seen at the next game.

Don't know what the score will be, but I think after about 15 minutes, I will realise what a god send the close season really is.

I have to agree with DerbySaddler's sentiments for this one, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, our pre-season games haven't exactly been a walk in the park judging by the reports, there seems to be an unhealthy degree of inconsistency about our play. Perhaps the "gelling" of a squad of strangers hasn't really happened yet. Secondly, Leyton Orient are certainly no pushovers - in the heady days towards the end of last season, when Walsall were playing with newly-discovered commitment and no little skill you may remember we actually beat Southampton at home - now I'm the first to admit we were desperately lucky that night, and a 5-1 defeat wouldn't have disgraced us. Yet only a few weeks later we were given a complete footballing lesson by Leyton Orient and lost 0-2, and it could have been many more.

Sorry to go on at length - I'll go for a 1-1 draw, Grigg scoring for us in the first 10 minutes. Their goal from a penalty, just to show us what one is.......

The usual pre season optimism to be peed upon with a 1-1 draw. Macken for us. 4487 in attendance.

Will be watching from the Asbo to go stand this week for a change.

They've become something of a bogey team for us over the last few years. I can't remember the last time we beat them.

That said, the first day of the season can (and usually does) throw up all sorts, and I'm going for a 1-0 home win. Grigg with the goal on 64 minutes.

I cant wait, im still optimistic even if we have signed some second rate players really and im worried about our defence....

Scrape a 2-1 win late on. Just looked at Orients squad, they seem a bit weaker this year, last year they did have Spurs loanees though.

Cureton will score past us

Chambers and Smith will be up for this one and it will hopefully spread through the team and lead us to a 2-1 win. Grigg and Macken, and the inevitable Cureton goal for them.

I did predict that we would beat Albion 4-1 on openning day a few years ago, so get a few quid on 5-1

My old man had a bet with his Albion fan mate that day £20 a goal. I said at the time something along the lines of "You idiot" He got my beer in all night with the £60, fair play!

Here's hoping for a win to start the season. Just an all round good team performance and a win will do me fine :)

What's a stayaway?

I should be there if work allows. Hopefully in the club for 4 pre-match pints.

Walsall will win 2-0

I have a dream!

1-0 to the saddlers
Penalty (macken converts after Gnakpa's brought down at the end of a mazy run)
Three points and a clean sheet, 'job done'

I know what ur thinking, "a penalty? No chance!"

i did say it was a dream!
