I really hope Ginger Mourinho plays our first choice XI - the team needs to gel before the big kick off.
I am hoping we sign a CM soon also.

A 3-2 win, Jarvis scoring all three.

Doubftull, it's only open pre match and at half time, last time I went, they had sold out of beer at half time, to quote the woman serving " I have never seen anyone drink beer like you lot before"

Agree on both counts. My first, and only, preseason game this year, and I am looking forward to seeing how the new players are settling in and the effects of a full preseason training programme with Dean Smith.

Re: Port Vale (A) Pre-Season Freindly Saturday 30/7/11.
Port Vale 3-0 Walsall.
Left winger Hurst to try actually crossing a corner with his left foot for a change and sublimely curls it in to Gnakpa on the goal line, who tries to do one too many tricks and finds himself getting tackled by the post, only for Jarvis to put the resulting rebound out for a throw in. Butler to score a hat trick of deliberate own goals in protest at the fact that Shrewsbury have signed the bald Xavi after Deano wouldn't allow him to sign a new contract two days late. Chambers to go up and punch him and point out that the midfield is much improved now we don't have a player who can't run, tackle or head and reminding him that there's no place in the centre of midfield for a player who can only kick a ball while its not moving. Grof to come racing from his goal to break the fight up, but only managing to slide straight past the incident, missing the pair of them. This complete lack of discipline will result in Dean Smith being sacked at half time and replaced by Chris Kamara, who tells the players to spend the secong half defending like beavers, only for all the players to point out this would be stupid and we'd be better off defending like Westlake. Meanwhile, in the stands, Pedagogue will be pointing out to anyone who'll listen that Friendly is spelt wrong in the thread title and remind us all that its "I before E, except after C", but will be ignored by fans turning on Mat Sadler, who will announce before the game that he has changed his name to Mat Dingle to avoid season long chants of "Sadler is a Saddler".
The outrageous events of the afternoon will see a number of Walsall fans running around with their arms in the air screaming that we're doomed before the season even starts and telling Chris Hutchings that all is forgiven, before being calmed down by the rest of the support who will point out that this is only a friendly and nothing that happens in a friendly really matters. Bonser to agree and re-appoint Dean Smith on Monday morning before we go to beat Orient 1-0 next Saturday.

Why is the 1 o'clock kick off an issue?

Tut tut. Every Walsall fan of a drinking age should know the answer to that.

perhaps the starting 11 next saturday??
i dont know about you lot, but though pre-season matches don't matter too much results-wise, it would be good to keep a clean sheet and win this one.

Losing one nil, if only we had a bald creative midfielder to complement Chambers.... Oh! Hold on a minute

1-0 down at half time.
Not a terrible performance, but not articulatly inspiring either. Butler and Lancashire caught out for the goal.
Gnakpa the stand out player for me, always looking to beat men with the ball and create a shooting chance for himself.
We're perhaps a little short of creative ideas otherwise.

Yep. Desperately lacking a continuity player in the middle who can bring others into the game. Front two starved of the ball, Chambers is gritty, but not a creator, Taundry is trying hard.
Better as the first half wore on.
Game on second half.

1-1!
Hilariously daft own goal by their no.5 mccombe
Good positive play from chambers and Grigg (whose cut back was sliced into the net)

we'll take that.
but midfield-forwards ought to be showing some signs of coherence by now.

Midfield better this half
Gnapka hurst and tundry switching roles a few times and chambers looking much more energetic and positive. Hurst and Grigg off, Jarvis + patterson on
