I'll go 2-1 to Paul Merson's Walsall! :P

Goalscorers: Gerrard and Fryatt for Walsall, Jarvis for Gillingham

Attendance: 4719

Colour of ref's pants: Sky blue.

Number of laughs at Stafflers commentating on a half-wit bloke with a blindfold on at half-time: 3

Match Preview now on the front page. A home win, surely, with their problems!

Yes the lowest league attendance at Bescot since the new stand was built. Might even drop to year 1997 levels.

Aaaaaaaaaargh! The preview says a comfortable home win.

We're doomed - doomed I tell you!

0-1

Get rid of Merson now!

Football used to be better when I was a lad - evidence for the prosecution. Watch your match highlights from the 84 Cup Run. Compare that side man for man with what we have now. Would you put any of our present team into an eleven ahead of the 84 team? No, thought not. Rees, Childs, Preece, Shaky, Mower, Hart et al - they don't make 'em like they used to...

So who do you reckon is favourite to get a red? Roper would be my bet. Mind you, if Wakka was still here...

Great result against a poor Gillingham team.
only 3 points from playoff now..

Skora looks like a decent signing.

I'm suprised that there were so many there today, can't imagine the Gills took many, so i reckon thats a decent crowd considering.

Good win! Gillingham didn't really give us that much trouble, just one or two shots which Murphy saved well especially the one in the second half.

Skora and Ishmel both took their goals well with two good finishes.

Skora easily the man of the match for me.

Now is the time to change, let's have no more negativity, let's get back to supporting the team 100%.

Before anyone gets too carried away about this win - yes it is a very welcome 3 points but it was against a poor Gillingham team. In all honesty this was a match that will not live long in the memory. The defence contained the Gills without too much difficulty leaving Murphy with only one real save to make that I can remember. Skora played well in the centre of midfield and took his goal well, Ishmel terrified the defence and ran himself into the ground, the worry with him is his tendency to throw himself on the ground looking for free kicks from time to time.

Quite right, the ref was very poor today I felt.

Still, shouldn't moan too much, three more points, onwards and upwards and PM kept in a job for few more weeks....

Wondered how long it would take you Zippy, this one win doesn't change anything. Give it a few more wins and then maybe I might look at things differently.

Zippy

I am with you on this one. Why do we have to credit our oponents with our wins?

Lets face it, Mersons staying put whether you like it or not. Credit to him and his team for this win.

I'm not denying that we deserved this win tactically but what I am saying is that we have had too many false dawns to expect too much from one win against a team who are even worse than us away from home. I'll give credit where it is due for this match but I don't think for one second that it means PM has turned the managerial corner. As I have said, if we gan go on a decent run then I am prepared to reconsider but until there is any kind of consistency then I am not about to change my views.
