With regard to Tadhg Purcell (ex Darlington) - see previously locked subject - I asked a mate of mine who knows a lot about Shamrock Rovers. He said:

"Tadhg pronounced Tieg is traditional name often anglified to Tim (yuck!).

Purcell is an ex rovers favourite very popular with fans nickname Tadger. Great attitude good skills not a great scorer for us but better, much better at scoring for Darlo.

Purcell is worth a look anytime much recommended"

From his picture on wikipedia, he seems like he is in the Mooney, Jabo, Parkin 'big man' role that we haven't currently got. While I would like to see Grigg given a chance, along with Nicholls, Byfield and Deeney (if he stays), I can't see the harm in giving 'Tadger' a trial. I shall await witty innuendos...

Keogh DC only 23, refused new contract at Carlisle, mate of Byfield's ex Bristol City together.. if Hughes doesn't sign would be a good signing

Not quite. It was Messy (Levant Juniors Nudist team) and Ronald MacDonald (the statue outside the place in Digbeth).

Hows that so funny? It was in there local papers that they have made an enquiry into his signing.

Who would you bring in to replace Jones jnb09? Messi, Ronaldo, Nani?

Tresor Kandol – Loan = No thanks, bad attitude!

Outs

Troy Deeney – £100k – Sheff Wed = £100k

Hutchings has gone on record as saying that he has had a goalkeeper offer rejected already.

Here's some speculation based on absolutely nothing (after watching the Ghana game last night):

Richard Kingson is 4th choice at Wigan (behind another international GK, Pollitt and Kirkland); he previously lived in Birmingham (although he rarely got a game while Bruce was manager there). O'Connor has obvious Blues links and Hutchings can obviously pick up the phone to Dave Whelan and ask for a 'favour'. Maybe Bruce will try and sign him again for Sunderland, but we could definitely offer him 1st team football.

Walsall definitely need an experienced goalkeeper; like Clayton Ince, Kingson seems like a GK who needs the 'arm around him' approach to get the best out of him and build up his confidence.

After Paston's exploits, it would be a decent 'draw' to have another World Cup player (cue a ton of Ghanian trialists!) at Walsall.

Realistically, this might explain why Rene feels the need not to sign a contract; either Kingson or Andy Marshall (still at Villa?) would be 'safer' options (or at least additional options) IMHO.

As I said Adam Barrett is available and with the news regarding Hughes I think this would be a good signing.

No, and therefore, if our "deadline" is to be believed they've both left the club.

Prutton maybe the leader we need?

I think he'd be a good signing but don't think he'd come to us. Probably got better offers and doubt he'd be as cheap as we'd be looking to get wage-wise.

Think he'd need reassurances of a genuine promotion push too.

Please note: That comment is in no way a dig at the club.

If you look at that list, we're the equal highest player turnover in the league - we've lost 13 players (if you include Gilmartin and Gray), but only signed 1. Only Bristol Rovers can match that, theyve signed 3 but released 17 (although two of those were loan returns).
