Stockport County (H) League 1 Boxing Day Friday 26/12/08.
Lets me set the scene for you , We were 10-11 points top of the old thrid division , Stockport County at home on boxing day back in the 70's, over 17.000 packed Fellows Park Walsall lost 0-1 hardly won a game after and finished mid table , somethings never change.
Back to present times and a look at our visitors form.
last 6 league games.
Millwall -away -lost 0-1
Crewe - away - won 3-0
Brighton - home - won 2-0
Peterborough- home - lost 1-3
Yeovil - away - won 4-2
Bristol Rovers - home - won 3-1.
County occupy a play off space 5th , on 37 points from 21 games played.
Away record 6 wins - 3 draws - 1 defeat .
Predicton We'll do very well to get a points out of this .
1-1

A Christmas cracker, served up a treat to the Tiny Tims and Bob Cratchetts of two traditional towns. A warm glow from the cheeks of fresh-faced children, the waft of hot beverages, the smell of pipe tobacco, the cheer as the embooted actors, resplendant in their white and blue silks, take to the grassed stage and eleven v eleven for pride, glory and the spirit of competition between comrades.
0-0.
0-0.

First part of a Chrimbo double header for me which I'm looking forward to but not quite sure why!
Stockport are doing well and have an excellent away record, conceding the least number of goals of any team in the division. 4-0 to us then!!
Seriously, we'll do well to get a point and then the same again up at Tranmere i'd say.
Merry Christmas!!

Re: Stockport County (H) League 1 Boxing Day Friday 26/12/08.
It could get messy.
However, I'm gonna be brave and say 1-1. Will Grigg comes on in the 93rd minute for Clayton Ince and bangs us into the lead. Stockport take advantage of the lack of goalkeeper and level up in the 95th minute.
Tape66 to be sporting a rather dapper Christmas jumper, with berries, holly, and reindeers as the main design :D

A heavy defeat for us. 3-0 to Stockport in front of a Boxing day crowd of 5,500, including around 1,000 Stockies.

Thinking a Draw for this one as well. 0-0 or 1-1
Evo to paint his head black and put a sprig of holly on top in a rather bizarre Christmas pudding disguise.

In what particular way would that be a disguise? :D
Anyway, a 3-1 defeat for us, entirely to be expected.
Xmas pud, or maybe portions of Evo's head, to be on sale at exorbitant prices in the Bonser Suite, with lumpy custard.
P.S. Same score away at Tranmere

2-1 Walsall after our seniors were rested against lowly Cheltenham.

Mr Whiting to hire a helicoptor and hover over the ground but swear blind he was Eddie Stobart spotting on the motorway and had absolutely no interest in the game.

Exile and tinned, you are both wrong, I'll be at home with my family having Xmas lunch on Boxing Day, as we can't all get together on the 25th.
The chances of being at the match - or any match at The Banks's this season - are considerably less than zero. I'm sure you knew that already though.

I cannot see where our next win will come from with the Muppet in charge I don't think we will get a draw either so I predict a 5-0 rout with MMF running around naked with Philthesaddler.

Ah right. Is it "entirely to be expected" as much as you suggested defeat at Cheltenham was "inevitable"?

I didn't realise just how good Stockport's away record is until I saw this thread.
If someone offered me a draw now, I'd snap their arm off.
We'll lose 3-1.

Re: Stockport County (H) League 1 Boxing Day Friday 26/12/08.
I fear that the only hope we have is if the Stockport players over indulge on christmas day in addition to catching the "flu" which according to JM is sweeping the nation. Otherwise :( :( :( :( us 0 them 3
11300 in attendance. This is based on the fact that when I tried to order tickets online this morning almost every block was sold out :? :?
I phoned up due to the fact that I could not get a family ticket on line and fortunately was able to secure tickets (would you adam and eve it) . Oh, and why is it that a family ticket only includes one adult? Maybe I am a dinosaur but the last time I looked my family included me, Mrs C and Chester Junior
And while I'm on a roll, I asked for tickets for Carlisle and was told that it was pay on the day only even though the OS says that we have been sent tickets  Surely it can't be that difficult, can it?
Right, mini rant over, time for a Baileys and off to bed!

Another incredible example of the ineptness of club employees. How hard can it be for them to get the basics right? One would think that even the most basic investment in customer computing architecture would allow them to see what is fact, separate it from the fiction of not immediately seeing a book of tickets physically on their desks and make the correct call. Oh no - no chance.

PS - email the club about that one so they know what's going on - if the customers don't tell them they'll keep on getting away with it.

Having read your post on "escape from christmas" it is probably a good call to stay away. if you feel flat now then a thumping by Stockport is not going to help matters
Merry xmas :)

Missing the Boxing day game voluntarily for the first time in many a long year!
Shame as I have fond memories of family trips to the game on Boxing day with my dad and grandad or of dragging Christmas visitors (usually not football watchers) half way across the country to see the Super Saddlers play.

I feel guilty as hell but I really cant be bothered driving up to Walsall on Boxing day. It could spoil my Christmas!
Off to see Daventry Town v Long Buckby at 1.00am KO instead.
I do hope we can get one over an improving Stockport though although I am not hopeful
