Not too sure we will get anything from this but heres hoping for a 1-0 lead just before half time and a Brightonesque backs to the wall second half.

Colchester 36-0 Walsall
Weston (x18)
Boertein (x10)
Reich (x8)

And the really sad thing is he wouldn't know whether to substitute them !!!

No change at the top so no change on the field. It will be interesting to see what our line up will be, but I can't see anything other than a defeat, even with Colchester's poor home form in their new identikit home.

2-1 to them, with us going in front...as usual.

Well, the BBC are tipping Nicholls to start up front and someone must be feeding them that hint.

Excuse and Dingle:

The boss seemingly has has a three-way dilemma over who partners Michael Ricketts in attack.

He said: “That’s something we will work on today in terms of team discipline but I’ve got people like Troy Deeney, Alex Nicholls or Marco Reich who could all come into the reckoning to partner Michael".

Colchester 5 - 4 Walsall

Walsall lead 4-0 at half time but fade badly in the second half due to the customery half time dressing room fight sapping all reserves of energy

Mullen has a pretty full strength team for tomorrows game ... but Jabo is suspended meaning that Alex Nicholls is expected to start in his place , Colchester however have there striker Gillespie out aswell as a defender with a broken toe.
Just thinking though im abit worried about Nicholls up front though .. I know he can perform sometimes but i worry about him being up there battling for 90 mins.

On the plus side colchester have failed to score in there last 2 games and have also conceded 6 more than us but have score 2 more than us . With a main defender out and a 18 year old his replacement maybe we could further exploit there defence.

No, definitely not hoping for that. If he was sacked then that'd be a silver lining, but I can't imagine ever wanting us to lose.

I actually think that we have a good chance on Saturday. We've been strong away from home and tend to start games well before fading out. Confidence at Colchester is fragile and I think that this is one of those games where if we do get into the lead then they won't have the self-belief to make a come back whatever the shortcomings of our tactics.

Just thought i'd comment on this particular post.

Confidence in 'the dressing room' is far from fragile. We were unbeaten in 3 before Saturday's poor display and, with our last home league game ending in a 5-0 victory we are far from under confident.

I also disagree with your 'take the lead and we'll win' attitude: we were 2-0 down in 12 minutes vs Southend before going 2-3 ahead in the second half!

Not sure where you got any of your points from here. We failed to score VS Orient, but won our previous game 1-0. Our striking is possibly the weakest part of our team with, as you have said, Gillespie out injured... again. Our defence is pretty solid to be fair and i wouldnt say Reid is our main defender. We have Rio (Baldwin) as, who i would call, our main defender and we also have an international in Coyne (who i personally dont rate but the gaffer does obviously) there too.

We have Lee Hills on loan who i assume is the 18 year old - i havent seen him play so i cant rate him, but as he is a knew player i assume he is not totally integrated yet and therefore will probably be a weak point but still we have decent defenders to cover.

Our midfield is fairly strong and hard working, but we can make mistakes that the defence cant cover because we are an offensive team.

I predict a 4-5-1 line up with Platt up front.

Its gonna be a hard game i think. Our home form is far from impressive (one win, 5-0 V Carlisle) and according to this board confident is low and the gaffer is under fire. We have just got a new manager so looking before that isn't constructive. Look at the results since we got him: 6 games; 3 wins; 2 defeats; 1 draw. One of those defeats V Millwall, 2-1, and one against Orient in the cup, 1-0, so not bad.

Leeds have lost 2-1 to huddersfield . So that puts hudd 1 point below us... along with Bristol Rovers who also lost last night. So now is the time to make some space. The only threat to our twelve position today is Brighton who are 2 points behind us and they are away to Carlisle so if we can get a result today then it will be all the better for us .

Come On You Saddlers !

Weston and Nicholls in for Jabo and Zaboub. Looks like 4-4-2 with Weston at RB, Palmer at LB, Taundry on the right and Deeney up front with Ricketts, although as we well know anything is possible. Note that the 3 untouchables all start as normal.

Weston's return is most welcome. Not going to comment on the rest, mind. :?
