Great result and by the sound of it an even better performance. The last time we won away finishing with nine men was a match at Chesterfield back in the eighties winning 2 -1 as I recall :D

I don't recall that match, but, from what I remember of Chesterfield at the time, you were fully justified getting sent off just to preserve your own life!

Thanks for that Cully, I don't recall that game at all to be honest. I wonder how early (or late) those two players were sent off in that Chesterfield game you've mentioned. The fact that we were down to 9 today after only about 33 minutes makes it all the more remarkable that we held out, especially after failing to keep a clean sheet in the previous 19 games.

No wonder football is so unpredictable and a pools win so elusive!

Bigbaz, no offence you baboon, but out of interest what is the reason you will not go to support your team is it 1) Jeff bonser 2) the credit crunch or 3) you are a dingle? if it is 1) Jeff Bonser has been in-charge of walsall for over a 16 years but it is this season you have decided not to attend matches :? :? I know we where sold down the river last season with Dann & Fox but if your where a real fan, are you not supposed to support the team not the chairman?

Why are you talking about Man Utd for? We have just had an amazing result and everybody is applauding each and everyone of our players today. Everybody is on a high and we are all proud to be saddlers. Then you come and log on and start talking doom and gloom. If your not going to be supportive and make comments like 'i would rather see any other team than walsall' then does us all a favour and don't log on again. Damn Fool

Idiot, great win for walsall and i am very happy and not doom and gloom either. My beef is with jb and not jm and his players that is why i will only support walsall away from home

Great win today from the lads! Still sinking in how we managed to win the game with only nine men! Credit has to go to Mullen though folks, his tactics were spot on today, and he reacted to the situation with great substitutions!

Nice one jimmy!

Fantastic result in the circumstances. I was choked listening to Mullen on WM: you could really sense what it meant to him and the team. True grit backs to wall performance, brilliant.

Bring on Carlisle, time for the stay aways to get back down the Bank's and get behind the team.Despite Geoff Bonser, it is clear we have a bunch of players and a manager who a 100% commited to the cause and for that they deserve the fullest possible support.

According to s.o.t.v we were 1 down to Chestyfield in the 70's, had 2 sent off and went on to win 2-1. Not sure when in the game the players got there marching orders though mate

Er-r-r NO Asps, sorry but principles are not discarded that easily.

This is about a lot more than a win, a few wins, or even an against-all-odds triumph. We could win every game from now until January, be at the top of the league and heading for automatic promotion, and I still believe JB would cash in again at the first opportunity that comes his way.

Loved the result today, loved the grit and determination, and loved hearing JM's obviously emotional post-match comments, but there's lots that JB has to do before I'll be attracted back.

And to those who will, once again, criticise this as negativity (which it isn't, but I still know they will), may I point out that I was merely responding to a comment, NOT wishing to start anything at all !

I'm sorry but i'm when i say this i'm not trying to be rude, it doesn't bother me that people on here don't go to games because they do other things and that because it's their own choice, but for the past month or so every single game, there has been at least 10 people giving reasons has to why they can't go because they feel they have to because people call them ' stayaways '. At the end of the day i couldn't care less why people don't wonna go to games and i don't think many others do, but it's really annoying when people go on and on about why they don't wonna go.

That may be annoying to YOU, but it's equally annoying to US to get the snide comments every week. If we didn't get them, we'd not find a need to respond.

The answer is really simple.

Just got back. The ref was far worse than any I have seen for a long time. Picky, fussy arrogant prat.

Difficult to pick a man of the match to be honest so I will have to pick Jimmy Mullen as man of the day. If he was choked then I can fully understand why. I haven't been quite so proud of the Saddlers for a long time.

There should be a video of that game shown in every school as a lesson on how to defend and forge out a result against all the odds.

Onwards and upwards.

I Imagine all the stay aways will be giving Wembley a miss, should we miss out on automatic promotion, as that would be a huge wedge for the JB pension fund.

Still, if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad....
