Exactly that, I just hope we play all our own contracted and youth players in the 16 and send the loanees and free transfers on holiday with STM.

I don't think Bonser would dare leave his bunker just yet.

Anyone else think it's more than a coincidence that the percentage of appalling has-beens never-weres and almost-cans amongst our squad increased after his resurgent career at the club?

Better to have a "guess the crowd" competition. Last I heard, the Fat Controller was going to miss his first game of the season, as he's completely fed up. 4,000 anyone?

They'll only lie about it anyway. The crowds for the last two games have been inflated from what they really were anyway. The Bristol Rovers one was even announced as (an already generous) 4,500 on the night and then grew to 5,200 by the time it made the website and the morning papers! :? :?

Saddlers 1-1 Monkey Hangers.
Betty for us, Porter for them.
Attendance of 5,296 including 347 travellers.
Any chance of a pitch invasion this year?
Doubt it!

Followed by a huge sigh of relief that the season is finally over which in turn will be followed by huge expectations and anticipation in relation to the potential dream team strokeforce for next season

0-0, some chavs will run on the pitch, Dave Bathurst will sound angry on the tannoy, the crowd will not wait for the "lap of dis-honour" Tommy Mooney will have a fight with someone in the Asbo stand, Richard Money will be in the Txt 64646 stand in disguise to take a pop at Cyclo and the OAP's. The only other thing for certain is the the guys in from of me will miss approx 26 minutes of the game by arriving late and leaving early - that is a certainty.

I think goal less draw too!
I hope we might finish with a quite good game, cant see it though! Maybe a few more shots today.

Thank god it's all over, as we predictably end the season in 12th place.

Well done to the lads with the huge banner. The message was right, shame it wont do anything, but it could alert people to the pension fund.
We were rubbish bar 20 minutes which was some of the best football seen this season. Dobson was awesome.

Re: Hatlepool United (H) League 1 Saturday 3/5/08
First up, the guard of honour and man of the match awards for Mooney were a disgrace. The bloke's the living embodiment of what's gone wrong at this club in the past 4 months. The sooner his cancerous influence is out of the dressing room the better for the team.
Manny Smith had an excellent game today. Should have been man of the match and would have done wonders for his confidence going into the close season. Instead it was given to the lazy waster out of sentiment.
As for the game, we played well for 20 minutes (and demonstrated that we could have competed for the last two months if we'd been interested) and then stopped playing for the final 70. In the end Hartlepool would probably consider themselves unfortunate to only get a point.

It was def more interesting watching the antics off the pitch than on the pitch today.
The banner boys deserve congrats for at least trying to highlight the Bonser scenario.
The chants of Dickie Dosh's Barmy Army/Bonser Out were loud enough to hear in Cyprus?
The game was def one of two halves - another 5 mins and we would have lost .
Craddock made his debut and Mooney actually scored!!!
Massive rebuilding now - whoever gets the job will have his work cut out for him.

I was still thinking it had been a good season until the 90th minute. I was looking gloatingly at all the clubs we were going to finish above, with our narrow last day victory...but this is Walsall!
Very disapponinted not to get in the playoffs after all the mid-season promise. We all know the reasons.
If anything, even more disappointed to finish behind Oldham, Northampton, Huddersfield and Tranmere. Poor. Very poor. With a home record like any of them, we'd have been in or near the playoffs. What's wrong with Becot?
The bright spot? We do have a really good crop of youngsters. Will they prove our salvation as we compete next season with the mighty MK Franchise, Peter Brough and Here for d? :? :( :) :D

Daz - I think that you've misspelled 'awful'. Dobson scored a cracking goal and that was the beginning, middle and end of his contribution to the match. When the Monkey-Hangers were all over us, for most of the second half, Dobson and Bradley (a young man desperately in need of a break from football) were nowhere to be seen.
I agree with the comments, above, about Mooney - ridiculous to give him MotM - pure (misplaced) sentiment. Promising to see that we finished with 4 teenagers on the pitch (Smith, Taundry, Demontagnac and Craddock) while Gerrard, Bradley and Nicholls are not much older.

Re: Hatlepool United (H) League 1 Saturday 3/5/08
Great move for the first goal and an equally great finish by Dobbo who had a good game overall. As others have said, we played well for 20 mins and then couldn't be bothered, although we did have a number of opportunities to finish them off. You always knew the equaliser was coming, it was almost like it was pre-arranged. It's always a funny feeling when there's nothing to play for come the last game of the season, but the atmosphere was pretty good today, even if it was mainly Bonser out chants. It's a shame we don't put as much effort into supporting the team on any other day.
