We spent most of the half defending inside our own box inviting them to take shots.

McLaren OUT!!

11-5 about a team who haven't lost at home for almost a decade?

Yet again backing half decent opponents against En-ger-lund is easy money.

how long now before the plastic pitch excuse? or even the thinly veiled "were not going to blame the pitch soundbite" which essentially means, were blaming the pitch.

Why the FA didnt appoint big Sam is beyond me!!!

Well if and wehn we finally fail to qualify then surely McClown will be sacked. The three recent 3-0 victories are due to McClown stumbling on a good formation because of injury and now he has been found wanting.

Get rid!!!

nah, i think they are now two points behind with a game in hand. that game is away to israel. so if they draw that we go into the final games (england v croatia and andorra v russia) one point ahead.

McLaren is blaming the ref for the penalty decision saying it was outside the box.

Poor performance. They were quicker to every ball - plastic pitch or not. The "penalty" was definitely outside the area, but for that matter Rooney's goal was off side.

By bag, I looked at the table not realising it was up to date with today's game.

Could I be more wrong  :)

I think it was outside the box - but about 5 minutes earlier the Russians had a penalty decision turned down that was a penalty, so it all came out in the wash

Russia need to win in Israel.

Russians own a huge slice of Israeli football.

The Israel team have nothing to play for.

I think we can probably start the conspiracy theories now can't we?

Truth is there would be no need for conspiracy theories if we'd bothered to turn up in half the games, its no good winning 5 games 3-0 if were going to drop points willy nilly against oppositione we should beat

I thought A) The pitch seemd to play quite well - no blame can be attached to that, I was pleasantly surprised, I expected it to be like Prestons  B) England did Ok - but no better and C) I thought Russia looked great when attacking. Can't remember the last time I saw such a frantic international match. Shame about the result, I was hoping England would get through and be based in Geneva 8)

Seems a pretty fair sum up, Steve.

Had Gerrards shot from the free kick, or Campbells header from the corner gone in, it could have looked a different game.

Fact is I think we were poor against a side there for the taking.

Very disappointed
