Mr Money has got some explaining to do especially following the substitutions he made i mean Deeney in the middle of the park??!! WHY?? Dobson was on the bench!!! Substitution Sonko when he was one of the only players performing - MADNESS and for Hall of all people EVEN MORE INSANITY!!

I used to rate our management but today looked like desperation!!

Lets face it - we suck!!!

Beat me to it

And me. Our manager cost us the game. Plain and simple. With his initial selection (Gerrard is a centre half, we're playing the side who are bottom of the league, at home, and we have Sonner as a partner in the centre - Roper, looked half asleep long before their first goal went in, he was very, very poor first half), BUT the subs were just bizarre.

Sonko seemed to be growing as the game went on, and I thought the move would have been to put him into the middle, alongside Wrack, if Hall was going to be brought on. Hall did absolutely nothing. Deeney as a young striker shouldn't thank the manager for throwing him into a difficult game out of position. I wonder under what circumstances Dobson would have been brought on, given we start the game with a centre half in the middle and end it with a striker there. Why was he on the bench at all?

Ish raised the tempo for 10 minutes, then went missing. His corners are about the worst I've ever seen. No end product, bar one good cross that someone could have got on the end of. Players who did o.k. Dann, Weston, Fox and Sonko. Gerrard played as well as a very average centre half playing in midfield could. Ditto Deeney.

The selection and decisions are more worrying than the result. I wonder what in the name of Christ Money sees that we don't. The decision to replace Sonko was loudly derided, and rightly so. Watch the vid, 'Dickie Dosh'. You got it so, so wrong today.

I would have been content with a draw today, TBH. Oldham were always in a false position and I find it hard to understand on what basis some people on here thought we would beat them. The lack of investment has been apalling and it is now rightly showing. Both Bonser and DD should share the blame for this situation. For me, having the likes of STM at the club is beneath contempt.

The fact is that with our attacking line up we will struggle - Mooney/Butler are both past it and do not combine together anyway. 3 goals from our strikers in 9 games says it all. I note that Billy Paynter scored 3 today for Swindon. On loan from Southend I believe? I also note Byfield has scored 3 coming on as a sub in his last two games for Bristol City.

Sonner off at half time. A central defender in midfield then replaced by a striker. The woeful Hall coming on for the decent Sonko.

We are again bottom of the league with two successive away games to come at Hartlepool [4-2 winners at Leyton Orient] and Donny. I see all of the promoted clubs did well again today.

Sort it out DD.

Perhaps because they had played 5 won 1 and lost 4.
hence my reason in thinking we should beat them at home!

I'm not saying I particularly want it to happen, but Money seems to be slipping into that desperate, try anyone anywhere spiral that pre-empts a managerial replacement.
Sonko off for Hall and Deeney in the middle instead of Dobson appear to make no sense at all.

I'm still tryin to see the 'improvement' in player quality from last season. If today's game didn't knock some sense into DD that our team isn't good enough I hate to think what will.

It will, I just couldnt believe my eyes today. The half time sub was pretty much what we expected but to take off Sonko was ludicrous.

Sonko is ace, Ishy played well (he had very little support)

Paul Hall? I watched carefully and he contributed precisely nothing.

Overall: Rubbish :(

Money got it wrong today. To be fair we were playing well until he took Sonko off. I think money was trying to kill them off with Fresh legs, but it went wrong and we died instead.

What is there to be said, we showed flashes of promise but that was all there was - flashes.

At last we saw the holy grail up front - Butler and Mooney. Was it worth waiting for? Mooney semed happy enough to knock the ball down but there was nobody at all close enough to pick up his lay offs. Apart from that, the forward combination didn't work.

Midfield - Gerrard did okay, I can only assume he took a knock as he appeared to be limping slightly as he went off. Why oh why was he replaced with Deeney? Dobson would have been a much better choice.
Sonko - had a great game I thought, couldn't understand taking him off
Wrack - got stuck in, I felt he had a half decent match.
Sonner - reasonable, wasn't bad, wasn't great. Was he tiring by half time?
Ishy - started brightly and faded

Defence - Weston and Dann impressed again, Roper had a couple of dodgy moments and Fox was his usual self.

At times the whole back four looked too flat, especially when allowing Ricketts to beat the offside trap and score.

I have to pass comment on the ref - what game was he watching? He seemed far to picky and pedantic. Half the time he blew up for what appeared to be non existent fouls!

At the risk of incurring the wrath of some posters on here I am now starting to get worried. 7 games in (1/6 of the season near enough) and we are fast turning into the whipping boys of this division. Something needs to be done and quickly.

Came back from Eire just to see the game today. It was a bit dissapointing on the back of last weeks win. And the referee was poor.

People need to understand a few things here. JB has done everything possible, in financial terms, for his football club, AND THERE IS NO MORE MONEY LEFT TO SPEND. What more can the man do????

and,

this IS the forward line that we were promised that would make us all proud. Give them time to gel.

As for Paul Taylor. How many clubs at our level have the direct access to, and contacts with the clubs across Europe that Paul gives us???

This must be a joke, right?

I'd have preferred Constable and Hector Sam upfront!!

There's more crap spin at Walsall than ever before.

A forward line to be proud of, a squad that can compete at this level - it's all SPIN

Are you related to him or something? I'm sure Oldham wish they had Carniero.

"and there is no more money left to spend" - what evidence do you have for this?

You sound like a cast-iron apologiser to me.

What a load of absolute garbage. 3-0 defeat at home to the side bottom of the league, players being played out of position again, the best player subbed off with half an hour to go players offering fans outside at the end - totally shambolic. Disgraceful performance - straight out of the Merson textbook.

Ince: No chance with the first two goals. Looked more confident than the last few games. In no-mans-land for the third, but the game was gone by then.
Weston: Decent game, linked up well with Sonko.
Fox: Another good game, still needs to work on his distribution but one of the bright spots of this season.
Roper: Switched off for Ricketts' goal, can't run. Is it a coincidence that we won the game he went off early in?
Dann: Did ok, but is constantly having to cover for Roper's lack of mobility. Also needs to talk (the 30-year-old) Roper through the game. Needs help. Looked injured at the end, may have contributed to the farcical third goal.
Sonko: Man of the match for me, always a threat on the ball. Taken off early in the second half - madness.
Wrack: Tidy, but can't run or tackle.
Sonner: Passenger, can't run.
Gerrard: Tried his best but isn't a midfielder in a hundred years - not his fault.
Mooney: Some nice flicks, but can't run. Offered a fan outside at the end - it's to be hoped he's a better fighter than he is a footballer these days else he'll be out for several more weeks. If DD was pinning his hopes on TM then he's been kidding himself.
Butler: Can't run, can't jump, hardly touched the ball.

Subs:
Ishmel: Looked bright on the ball, still needs to work on the final ball, faded late on as he moved back to left back to cover for Dann's injury.
Deeney: Played central midfield for half an hour. Why? He's a striker. Looked lost - not surprising.
Hall: Waste of a wage, can't run anymore. Did we give him a trial before offering him a contract?

Without new people coming in as soon as possible we're in big trouble. This current squad is going to get relegated by 20 points or more. We need a striker who can actually run and knows where the goal is and we need at least one central midfielder (probably two) - and we need them now.

Money says Sonko was taken off because of Ramadam, and hence wouldnt have the energy for a full 90 minutes, So what was Paul Halls excuse?

I really hope Butler and Mooney gell into a decent partnership, 5 golas in 9 games sucks.

Really dissapointed and dejected after watching that pathetic performance, easilly beaten by a very average team.
