Ish might well provide the service for the front line that's been lacking so far. A bit of pace might make the difference - Vale must feel like they're manning the zebra outside the pensioners' home up to now (slow old people crossing).

That said, Ish is down injured. Noooooo!

4,967, including 967 Vale. Oh dear.

Even though it is an early kick off, that is very disappointing considering the game's importance and it's sort of a local derby.
If I hadn't had a game myself or it had been normal time I could have made it 4,968.

10 mins left, still 0-0. May as well bung Deeney on for Hall up front.

EDIT: just seen Nicholls has come on instead for Gerrard. That probably means Wrack and Diddy in the middle!

I was hoping DD was using it as a tactic to confuse the Port Vale players into thinking a ball boy had strayed on to the pitch!!

Stopped the rot and kept a clean sheet. Have no idea how we played, but let's hope it was more like last season than Tuesday night. Something to build on at least, but please can we get a central midfielder on loan?

No Decent Strikers = No Goals

No Goals = No Wins

No Wins = Relegation

Just got back, not a bad game at all... end to end stuff.

I just really really don't know how we didn't win that about 6-0...

The chances we had were unreal, really good game just a pitty about converting shots.

Absolute nailed on penalty not given to us in the first half, but other then that, the ref was ok.

so overall not too bad, but a lot of room for improvement

Might as well give up now then. We're clearly relegated already in some people's minds.

Next weekend away to Millwall is a must-win game now! - Thought I'd get in there first!!! :D

Seriously though, we've got a draw and a point, that's something today. By all accounts some activity in the loan market is now required and let's hope DD's got something up his sleeve. Missed chances are all the more frustrating when you've not got many points on the board, but I remain confident that we'll emerge from this and will go from strength to strength for at least part of this season, before maybe hitting another slow patch some point after Christmas.

Can't help but feel we need to get a proven goal scorer with pace. We create enough chances breaking forward at a slow pace.

A pacy forward would make all of the difference.

Not too bad today, Wracky had a great game. Just ashame we didn't take our chances.

However, toi contradict myself, if we manage to string a couple of good results together, the confidence the forwards get from it may make the difference between scoring and not scoring when in position.

I know goalscoring is our problem at the moment and it makes sense to say we need a striker of that description, but we have brought in quite a few attacking players already this summer. If we assume Carneiro is a write-off judging by his absence from the 16 then that still leaves:
Mooney
Hall
Sonko
Junior
as new arrivals. We've not had more than two of those available at any one time, we've not been able to partner Mooney and Butler up front together yet. It's still early days yet and we have got different options to try, rather than getting someone new.

That said, if a striker better than what we've got already does become available then by all means snap him up. He'll only be on loan anyway, so as you say if it puts a few more points on the board then our remaining forwards might get back some confidence and form.

Fair point - in my misery of another goaless display, I forgot that we had the other players, although I would prefer Hall to be more of an attacking midfielder rather than considered a main goal scorer
