Ah Well, Lets hope we can get something on saturday. This result may get some walsall fans to lower thier expectations for the comign season. Lower-Mid Table has to be our realistic aim this season
Well, I think most do think that. Luckily for me, a certain SaddlerKen thinks we'll finish top 6. I think the £20 bet is coming my way (feel I might have to keep reminding him of our bet...)

MIDFIELD... as expected at the start of the season doesn't seem creative enough.
We are in serious serous need of someone creative in the midfield. instead of spending money on Byfield (if that is indeed an option) we should push the boat out for a centre midfield.
Lets think about it. a striker is no good if we cant supply him with quality service...
sonner sitting and another attacking centre midfielder is my shout. DD has shown he is not sentimental about letting players go - thats how he needs to treat Dobbo bcus he is SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH to be a regular nevermind the captain.

Obviously a few people will right off our season after one defeat but the one thing I can't understand is why we couldn't have played a few more of the youngsters. We've gained nothing playing the same team as Saturday except knackering them up a bit more. All hindsight thought I guess.
Three points on Saturday, or even a draw, and everything will be rosy again. 8)

A very disappointing result.
We played a full strength team against 4/5 regular Swansea players.
Got to be getting something out of that I am afraid.
No pace from midfield, if people honestly think Ishy will start on Saturday they are living in cloud cuckoo land! That would mean we are going away from home with attacking intentions!

I thought Ishi was banned for Saturday so I would be well surprised if he plays

I thought the coverage on WM was excellent.
Sadly, if their reporters were giving an accurate account of the performance the doubts some of us have about Mr Touchy’s abilities are looking even more glaring.
Last season we gained promotion despite, rather than because of the players Touchy brought to the club. Apart from Ince, his signings were extremely disappointing. It was clear to some of us that Bonser should have thanked him for his achievements and sent him on his way.
It was always going to be a risk giving Touchy another chance and from what we have seen so far it was a risk that should have been avoided. Already it is looking as if it is players Touchy inherited who will make or break the season. Let alone Ishy and Dann, give me Nichols, Lee and Bradley over Hall, Sonner and Carlos.

Couldn't agree more
regardless of who you have as strikers, unless you have pace and creativity from midfield you won't score enough goals.
I want Walsall to do well like the rest of you, but I don't think the tactics from last year will work in this division.
OK I only saw them play 'live 'twice last year... Plymouth and Torquay. Great results but not the most entertaining Walsall teams I've ever seen and at the end of last season we were Champions.
I do read the comments on this site ... don't agree with most of them .... but as the man with one leg said, "It's all a matter of a pinion"

Agreed that Deeney should have been thrown on for the last 10 mins when we had nothing to lose , but its a shocking situation that by the end of only the 2nd game of the season we are asking for our 5th choice , kid striker to be thrown on.
I doubt DD expected Deeney or Nicholls to be remotely near the first team for a few months as they are clearly not ready.....yet.
Nicholls with the exception of 20 mins at Stoke hasn't IMO shown that he is capable of making it as a League player and Deeney has only ever scored a few goals at Halesowen.
Just trying to be realistic and not necessarily negative (I'll leave that to others and you know who you are  )

Ishy back Saturday.
Cool heads required.
Completely agree and fed up of the negativity after 2 games to be honest. Should be used to it by now.
All the issues being raised were issues last season but they didn't count for anything. And yes, I am fully aware that we're in a different division.

agreed .
DD has just said we had 4 key missing players , Weston , Roper , Butler , Ishmel
Roper in his plans for saturday , these players will make a difference .
Even when key players are missing you still need a result... that excuse won't save his job if the results aren't there after 10 matches

How can they Dave?
Weston is ginger. Roper is fat. Butler is at Posh and Ishmel has an asbo. We stand no chance. Certain relegation this season.

But from the sounds of it, Wrack had a good game tonight and will keep Weston out the team anyway.
Roper has been available first two matches, just chose not to use him.
Butler has been for below par for 7 months, that seems to be a common agreement.
Ishmel is hardly a "key" player, he only started 1 game last season and the lad is being built up to the an absolute messiah and the potential saviour at the moment, which is a tad worrying.

I like to consider myself as one of the more optiistic poster but on this issue i have to worry. My "negativity" is based on a concern. If Sonner and Dobson come good then ill be the first to put my hands up. However, I THINK we are not strong enough across the midfield.
This is my basis for my comments and aprasial of the midfield, please feel free to slate me or agree:
Ishy - could be good but depends which ishy turns up
Fox - Not Creative enough can't beat a player, capable squad player though.
Dobin - Poor distribution, bottles it against tough tackin midfielders but hes a trier and would be good backup.
Sonner - Most Creative of our centre midfielders but is not an attacking midfielder looks better when sitting.
Nicholls - Potentially very good indeed. Has pace, skill and a decent delivery. But is young and inexperinced.
Hall - Doesn't set the world alight, no pace but would take him over wright any day.
Sonko - Untried. Could come good but could be useless too. Jury is out on that one.
Bradley - Again untried and inexperienced but i think he deserves a chance becuase looks very capable.
Wrack - Not the same player since he came back from injury but would prefer him and Sonner centre mid than Dobson.
*Puts on bullet/knife/atomic bomb proof suit* :)
