The anticlimax would be to win vs. Swansea and then be drawn away vs. Peterborough

But then we would have a good chance to get through to the 3rd round.

Walsall boss Richard Money today urged his players to set up another high-profile Premiership clash in the Carling Cup as they travelled to Swansea to begin their challenge.

Money pledged to take the competition seriously and ruled out the prospect of mass team changes for tonight’s match at the Liberty Stadium, when the Saddlers will look to make it third time lucky after losing on penalties to the Swans in each of the last two seasons.

And the manager is keen to secure a repeat of last season’s second-round tie against Premier League Bolton, when Walsall played out a thrilling match before going out late on.

The Saddlers’ rousing second-half performance against Sam Allardyce’s team was one of the highlights of the season.

And, with his eyes on more of the same, Money has ruled out fielding a shadow team tonight.

“We want to win and go through to the next stage,” he said

That dow mek sense. :?

Swansea v Walsall
Swansea captain Garry Monk should return to the starting line-up after recovering from an ankle injury.
And fit-again duo Kevin Amankwaah (toe) and Tom Butler (hamstring), who missed out at the weekend, could also feature.

Walsall striker Martin Butler should make the squad after recovering from a virus but midfielder Edrissa Sonko has been ruled out by a hamstring injury.

Winger Ishmel Demontagnac misses out as he will serve the final instalment of a two-game ban from last season

Is this just crap reporting or is Sonko going through the injury dictionary? I thought he had a back problem on Saturday? Perhaps there hasn't been enough sunshine yet

Sonko's problem has always been in the hamstring region.

Jon Witney said that he thought it could be sciatica, which although caused by nerve issues in the back, can apparently sometimes resemble the pain of a hamstring injury. Obviously the treatment for a nerve problem is different to a pulled hamstring, so I hope that they have got the diagnosis right.

I base my prediction on the fact Swansea lost Saturday and the fans/players/staff will all want to make up for that with a good performance and we dont normally do well against Swansea. If im wrong then so be it.
Opinions are funny things :o offer

Have backed Swans to win by one goal (20 quid @ 5/2)and by two goals

(14 quid @ 4/1). Stand to win 36 quid or if Saddlers win I'm out by 34

quid. AsI would normally spend this amount at home match I don't think

it a bad bet.

Hi lads,

Swansea City fan here, very much anticipating the two meetings between us within the next two weeks :P

How many fans will be making the trip down to sunny Swansea then this evening? 8)

All the best for the rest of the season and when we're not playing you!

Welcome to our board, Boyo!

Tuesday night, terrible weather, Big Brother on the telly, little chance of a positive result...

...I reckon we'll take 4000! :D

Try a quarter of that number for an optimistic estimate. :(

How's Martinez doing? Hope he does well for you (except against us of course), always seemed a decent chap, honest player.

Optimistic? I'd call 1000 bloody miraculous, I doubt we'll even see 1/10th of 4000, let alone a quarter. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if its 1/20th...

Thanks!

Haha I hope for a good match because the last meetings between us have been very entertaining indeed!

Yeah Martinez has been a instant hit down here and I think he'll be a success with us in the future.

I thought we were going to get a tonking if they put a full side out, but Martinez's comments here imply he is going to change his team around a fair bit... So if they stick only half a first team out, I'd fancy us to sneak something (assuming we go with our 1st team)...

On the above, a 1-0 win... If they go full team, then 3-0 defeat.

Oooooooo ! I think butler may just be on his way then, i think he would have started tonight if he was staying. I think maybe the ill thing is a cover up , for all the worry we would have if butler went now and byfield went elsewhere.
