Just a reminder that Saturday's scheduled game has been brought forward to Friday evening, k.o. 7-45 p.m.

Come along, support the Saddlers and financially help a Walsall non-league club.

In that case I might do both Rushall and Burton and have some beers in the process. :D

We won 1-0

Team:-

Joel Skeldon (sp?)

Richard Taundry
Mannie Smith
Peter Doran
Netan Sansara

Chris Hanna
Charlton Davies (Capt.)
David McDermott
Leon Quarless

Troy Deeney
Harry Harris

(No subs were used)

Manager:- Dicky Dosh, assisted by Mick Halsall and Eric McManus

Goalscorer:- Deeney - a cracking right-foot volley, a few minutes before half-time.

Our team was made up of one second year pro (U20), nine first-year pros (U19) and one second year apprentice (U18). The win was more comfortable than the margin suggests. We should have scored more goals but the final ball often left something to be desired. The problem with controlling matches but not converting superiority into goals is that it places great pressure on the defence not to make a mistake (as I suspect the first team will illustrate, this season). Deeney was a constant threat while McDermott looked happier in a more conventional central midfield role.

Joel Skeldon - Didtn have much to do but looked neat of crosses.

Richard Taundry- Contender for man of the match, pacey and can hit a nice cross.
Mannie Smith - Solid, Rushall couldnt get past him.
Peter Doran - Odd one, did nothing i nteh frist half, second half did well. Shame he's scouse :P
Netan Sansara - Did nothing wrong, nothing amazing.
Chris Hanna - Quick, good runs, shame about his final ball.
Charlton Davies (Capt.) - Uneventful game, doesnt win any headers for such a tall lad.
David McDermott - which one was he? :?
Leon Quarless - Well, what can i say, pointless him being on the ptich, touched the ball 3 times in 90 minutes.
Troy Deeney - Class above the rest, fantastic first touch, quick, wins headers, can finish. He's a must next season, he's something we dont have atm.
Harry Harris - lots of pace.

Nice to see as soon as the final whitsle went Dicky was off to the bar for a pint. :D

Good evening out with some nice footie played.

Exactly, which is why I wasn't panicking like many who wanted us to sign SWD who has hardly any more experience and has been on loan at a few League Two clubs and been very patchy at best and none of the clubs he went to on loan were remotely interested in signing him.

Still a few goals against us is enough for the likes of Phil to continue harping on about why didn't we sign him. ;)
