Your right, But I very much doubt it was aimed at you. As you don’t criticise players before they play and suchsuchBlazing_Saddler wrote:If as an unqualified coach, i am not allowed to say where i think DD is going wrong, maybe he should keep his opinions about how i support my football team to himself also ?

Blazing, I sit behind him at games and there is very little criticism either of him or the players which would be audible to him.
I thought we had already established that he reads this site. and if so he probably has enough to write a book

He has been photographed shouting things and making gestures to you lot though, so I'd be surprised if he hears nothing.

The only time DD shouts and makes gestures to us, is when he feels that we are not vocal enough in our support of the team, NOT beacause they are recieving abuse.
In any case, does he not realise that us in Text Whatever stand (except Cyclo) are much to refined for that sort of thing

I only sat in the HL Fellows once last season and tbh all I heard were negative remarks. Not all that many of them, but absolutely nothing positive in favour of the team. (Apart from from me of course). Be it tactical changes or the performance of the individual players, all the criticism was aimed at DD and if that was typical of most matches then its not surprising he takes it to heart, especially as we were well clear at the top of the league at that point.

Spencer Weir Daley anyone?
No, for the several reasons I've mentioned several times which you still don't seem to have picked up on. We may as well try Deeney or Ishmel up front.

It is these people who provoke him to have digs at fans in the press. FACT.

I had a season ticket in that stand for a few years until last season, in the block next to the one directly behind the dug-out. Generally, the fans there are ok but when things started to look bleak, there are a few elderly chaps who can't wait to make there feelings known to the manager. During the Colin Lee days, there was many a heated discussion between the manager and these whingers. It seems to me, with every manager since Lee, they are trying to provoke the same angry reaction to brighten up their sad lives!

Even if I accept that this happens, you are surely not suggesting that it doesn't happen elswhere. Comments on this board say otherwise. It seems that as the only people in his earshot we are getting all the blame. In any case whilst I do not agree with criticising DD or the players during the game, surely anyone who has paid his money is entitled to express their opinion. They do it on this board and as we have already mentioned that DD and the players read it, there is not much difference :?:

Sorry MMF, but you're wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong again! We are talking about last season, DD's first. How on earth people sitting in the ASBOToGo stand can pass comments on people in the Text999OAP stand just beggars belief! I don't give a sh*t what DD said to you - he is being "economical with the truth". I know - I was there for EVERY home game. The mutterings of discontent from the small handful of "clueless, doddery, old buggers" (q.v.), who sit behind NSS, Cyclo and myself cannot be heard from more than 5 or 6 feet away. Although I frequently/usually disagree with their views, they are entitled to QUIETLY express them and, in any event, they cannot be heard by anyone by the dugout, even less on the pitch.
Have you not considered that DD may have an ulterior motive for coming out with this mythical story? Deflection of blame, get your excuses in early, etc.? When DD turns round and looks up into the stand, he is looking up at where the the Directors, Jeff Bonser, in particular, sit. As has been said above, DD has turned round to encourage fans to step up the volume when he wants more vocal support. However, it appears that many on this board, not just MMF, have taken his words at face value and swallowed his untrue propaganda, hook, line and sinker!
Let us put this cr*p to bed, once and for all. Last season, there was NO barracking, jeering or booing of players from the block behind the home dugout. Any negative comments were made in conversation between individuals and could not be heard, more than a couple of yards away! Dicky Dosh is conning you and you are falling for it! -FACT

Oh dear, Leamore has lost the plot and doesn't read my posts. Please tell how DD could con me? Do you you think I am that gullible? Do you not read my many comments regarding his statements in the press?
Oh, and you are wrong. You are not the only people to sit in that stand. Other younger people may have better hearing.... ;)

As usual Leamore is right about this.
I sit a few rows behind DD and totally agree that there are some guys with odd opinions there, but there is almost no barracking of players or booing of individuals.
Correct me if I am wrong but it is often mentioned on this board that certain players such as Mark Wright are booed by people in the Floors2Go or the West Bromwich Albion Stand. I do not think this ever happens in middle part the Text stand.
With the manager immediately in front there is the occasional person who will call out "Too Late" if a substitution is left until the last few minutes when we are losing - this happened with Graydon, Lee, Merson, Broadhurst and now with DD - although since we did not lose many at home last season it was pretty infrequent. I really cannot think of much else that ever gets shouted at DD.
The people in the Text stand tend to be older and perhaps more traditional than in other parts of the ground. I would think that if DD stood in front of any other part of the ground he would get a lot more "advice."

Yeah thats what i thought, i was talking to one of the lads who comes on the minibus with us last season, who sits in there, you will probably know who i mean
He was saying how embarrassing it is sometimes, he doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke to lie, or make things sound worse than they are

Most of the negative comments are from posters with none or very little experience of the Text 64446 stand. It is all "this bloke told me this, and I sat in there once and they were all moaning", and in your case MMF, "DD told me etc". I am baffled as to why he should tell you that, and can assure you that when the opportunity arises I shall ask him. The only response from a regular in our area Bernie, confirms what Leamore and I are saying.
Like Leamore I go to every home match and in spite of that cheap shot about our hearing, reiterate that there is no barracking or booing from behind the dugout. Tell you what as you feel so strongly about it , come and sit with us for a match or two, you will be quite safe and it will give us a chance to prove our point.

Oh dear, MMF has lost the plot and hasn't read my post.
1) DD has conned you, and many others, because you apparently believe the blatant lie about the alleged barracking of players from the block behind the home dugout.
2) No, I know that you are usually far from gullible but, on this issue, you are, because you seem to have swallowed the cr*p that DD has come out with.
3) I am aware that you take many of DD's press utterances with more than a pinch of salt. So why just blindly accept this (untrue) one?
Please note the views of Bernie, North Staffs Saddler and Cyclo. We actually sit in the middle of this block, EVERY HOME GAME, and so I think that we are in a much better position to judge than people who sit in the ASBOToGo Stand (whence, incidentally, there appears to be much more abuse).
Even in a relatively quiet stand like the Text999OAP one, unless you are blessed with Superman's hearing, you cannot hear what someone is saying, in a normal volume level of voice, from more than a few yards away..........and before you make another sarky comment, I can assure you that, after 40 years of refereeing and working in noisy classrooms, my hearing is well-adjusted to the task of hearing inappropriate comments!!! :D
Pedro wrote:There is one moaning Saddler who sits behind the dugouts. He moans, week in, week out. Leamore and WS1 will know who I'm on about. He sits next to the "70's man" type person, right behind DD's dugout.
Bob Sadler and Dave, the "70's man type person", to whom you refer, constantly berate the opposition, the referee, the nearer assistant referee, the fourth official and the opposing manager, frequently offering them unsolicited advice, but they do not barrack our players. Dave does not sit "right behind DD" (no-one does - they would not be able to see the game!). He sits several rows back. As for the person, next to him, there is no way that DD could hear his chuntering and DD never turns round and looks at him. As I said, above, DD turns round to look up at Jeff Bonser.
Come and sit among us, MMF, and you will hear what I mean. You will hear the rustling of Werther's Original sweet wrappings, some quiet snoring and polite applause. If you hear sobbing, that will be Cyclothymic, pining for Mark Wright! :D Just don't swallow DD's urban myth!

In my opinion, *however un valued* There are small eliments of discontent from all around the ground. I do disagree it is found only in the NHS stand, and very much disagree it is only found in the older generations.
What i think you have in the NHS stand is a lack of atmosphere when it the game is good and when bad a voiceing of opinions but the only difference is it is audible becuase no one is shouting there mouth off. This is also the case where i sit,, and i have wrongly in the past told people to shut up when they have booed a player comeing on or suchsuch.
I would go so far to say the area where i sit is full of moaning people, who never sing in support of the team, never seem to enjoy the game, and only wake up when something bad happens. But these are about 20-50 year olds.

To be honest Leamore, i don't know what you are trying to say with your post
If you are saying DD isn't aiming these remarks at a few people behind him, then they are aimed at everyone of us. In now way has DD conned me, i am wise to him, unlike a few others on here. I was just saying, in his defence, and from things i have been told by friends who sit there, that he gets a lot of abuse from behind the dugout.
If that isn't the case, then that makes the whole thing worse in my opinion

DD's original outburst back in December/January was aimed at every single Walsall fan that attend home games at the Bescot/Banks's Stadium. The only reason he has come out recently and said that its a few idiots behind him calling him a C**t is to try and save face and attempt to patch things up with the fans. Half that stand behind him anyway are made up of Press, business men and a few saddlers fans that don't want to get caught up with all the singing and dancing behind the goal in the newly named Asbo-stand. Unfortunatly for the people that do sit in the TXT ME IM HOT STAND it seems like DD is now targeting you guys cause your the nearest to him during the game.
Maybe next home game i'll go upto him and call him a C**t to his face and tell him where i sit , then it will get you lot out of trouble
