I watched the match with Leamore Saddler who will no doubt post his normal excellent report in due course. I thought Junior worked hard and indeed held the ball up well at times but there doesn't seem to be enough about his game to make it worthwile to take him on. Not for me anyway but as they say it is only my opinion :wink:

I have never met Leamore but whilst perusing the small crowd I noticed a tall grey haired gentleman who seemed to me to have the demeanour of an ex school teacher. He was standing with three other men one of whom smoked a fag and another a cigar in the second half. Was this Leamore? :?

May have been standing near MMF. Cant be sure as he wasnt eating anything. MMF did u have a Nationwide top on?

No further report necessary, Mike. Of the two triallists, Junior didn't do much - lots of effort but no end product. Mario Pedro might be worth another look but I think that it's unlikely that he will be taken on. Good work-out for the Reserves, though, as the Yeltz were very "competitive". Fortunately, Ishy kept his temper - just!

No, dog, 'twas not me. At 5' 11", I'm average height (well, no, actually, I'm short for my width! :) ). The hair is going grey at the temples and, as for the demeanour of a schoolteacher - ???? I was standing behind the Walsall dugout, with Mike T. and his 12 year-old son, Liam. Hopefully, we can meet up, soon.

No, dog, 'twas not me. At 5' 11", I'm average height (well, no, actually, I'm short for my width! :) ). The hair is going grey at the temples and, as for the demeanour of a schoolteacher - ???? I've said before, people like Dornansog should really make an effort to make to either/both the Saddlers Club before a game or a UTS Night Out. That way you know exactly who the person you despise is :twisted:

I thought the young lads did well particularly Bradley who looked really commanding in the middle of the park.
What I particularly liked was how he seemed fully aware about what was going on around him along with his vision he showed which for me was summed up by a peach of through ball for the second goal.
Nicholls also impressed particularly once he was put up top and the goal seemed to lift his confidence.
Didnt think much of the trialists and I wouldnt imagine we will take our interest in them any fuerther.
Regarding Gerrard and Dann not playing it was probably based on the fact that Halesowen were without their first choice strikers and the last thing we want would be two of our prized assets getting clobbered by some over eager trialist.
Interestingly Picken was there so along with Dann amd Gerrard so I wonder if this is an indicator to suggest he may well be getting a run out in the near future.
Finally one Chris Westwood was also at the game

Yep thanks Mike. I was very impressed with Bradley a couple of seasons ago and I'm surprised he's not been tried more. I think he will this season, even though the moaners want more youth and pace in the slow midfield and the same people want us to try young players, they ignore the fact Bradley could make a big impact this season. ;)

Doesn't Bradley play right-back for Wales? He could also act as cover for Weston this season.

I agree fully with Scooby's report on the game. Doran looked very strong in the tackle and good in the air. Mannie Smith had a poor game I though, lost his marker and over played at times. Taudry looks quality, I thought he was better in first half, but again quick, strong in tackle and good distribution. Mcdermot was busy, and played up front 1st half and missed a one on one from a good ball through from Pedro. However Mcdermot's final ball was poor at times. Nicholls was tremendous when he was moved up front. He is quick, has two good feet and energentic. He took his goal well. I thought that Bradley was the pick of the players. He is calm on the ball, has good feet and good control, I think he could do a job in the first team, although he is not particulary quick he has a good football brain to compensate.

I'd agree with all that. Taudry looked really solid, Bradley worked really hard (had to alongside Pedro - who isn't worth another look in my view), and Nicholls.

Showboater Ishmel did little other than the cross for Bradley and bitch to the ref. If he can't shine against an, at best, 'workmanlike' Halesowen Town, I can't see him being 'the answer' to many of our questions this season. Average at best.

So that's a couple of people who've said Taundry was quality added to those many reports from those that go to the reserves regularly and basically rubbishes everyone who was crying the other day because he was the worst thing since unsliced bread. :roll: ;)

not that my opinion counts for much on here, but I thought he was excellent. Seemed really hungry to play

Bradley will make a big impact IMO-can see us calling games off for too many internationals e.g Bradley, Weston
