To put stupid threads on here about supposed signings when nothing has been announced is pathetic-put it in the rumours thread. Secondly, I've been a saddler far too long and some get really 'hurt' when the topic of money pops up-it really is a sore topic-FACT WE DON'T PAY OUT-OUR PLAYERS ARE KIDS ON A PITTANCE AND GRATEFUL OLD MEN. Maybe I don't want to grow up and would prefer to comment on 'idle gossip'.

You want it both ways, you slagged MMF, cos he didn't tell you anything, and then cos someone couldn't keep something to himself, even tho he was told it wasn't definite, now you are crying cos it hasn't happened yet
Walsall have spent more money than you think, just cos the people of Walsall couldn't be arsed to turn up and follow the team, now we are paying for overspending that money

Don't criticise me!
I started a thread, but I never once mentioned the name of the person. the term [post moderated] has been used countless times of late, and it wasn't as though the first post on this topic was 100% deadly serious
Jeez
The fact of the matter is no one knows anything for sure, there's rumours flying about, and I haven't revealed any of those rumours against anyones wishes

I did'nt slag MMF because he did'nt tell me anything, he acted as the spokesperson for the forum because I was pi**ed off with the boring/daft rumours that had no substance. I argued with MMF about our lack of 'quality' transfer dealings! As i've said RUMOURS ARE RUMOURS-keep them in the separate thread until something is confirmed-not hard is it? When the 2/3 quality players come into the club, I will give praise, until they do I have the right to have my disgruntled say. PS I love my club, I pay my money and I never boo/slag players off during games(unlike a few others on here!), so my opinion will be given.

Lets get a few things straight
Most people know who [post moderated] is, there has been enough hints over the past 2 months for that to be worked out
There's been rumours we have been after him since very soon after the swindon game
The other day a rumour went around saying a deal had been done, no further details, nothing definate, nothing official
Whether you choose to believe that or not is up to you. Whether you choose to get upset that you aren't in the know is up to you, those in the know dont know that much, thats the simple fact of the matter! The latest rumour had it's source, that source will have had another source.
If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't it doesnt.
I don't see what the big hoohaa is. We know we're interested in this fella, but then again, we also know we've been interested in numerous players this summer, some of which havent come off.

Why should we expect 2 or 3 quality signings ?
Our support is nothing special, everyone knows we are in debt, if we get one quality signing, i think that is enough to be thankful for, the reason we are in such a mess, is because we overspent when we were in the Championship/ Division 1 as it was, and it went T I T S up.
Success doesn't come over night, last time we got out of the bottom division, it took a few years before we had a promotion push, if we muddle along for a few seasons, then so be it, thats life

So when you started this thread with the title "[Post Moderated Signs!!!]" and the message "Get in! What a signing!!", you were either a) mistaken or b) having a laugh or c) deliberately misleading us for some reason.
Perhaps you could explain which it was.

Spot on Phil, and Blazing.
And just to add Scooby, at least we are trying to improve the squad. We have indeed bid for players, presumabley within our budget constraints. If those bids come to nothing because the clubs who the players pay for now want more, or because the players in question decide not to come then that's that.
The only other 2 alternatives are to 1) spend money we havn't got, going into debt and jeapordising the future of the club, or 2) just go "ah well let's not even try".
To me what has transpired this close season has been an encouraging return to the common sense management that has brought us success in the past, and until we start getting 10,000 people a week coming or until a moneybags benefactor buys the club and bankrolls it with HIS money that is the only option we seriously have to work with.
Why people find this hard to understand and hard to bear is beyond me.
As for the argument, "speculate to accummulate" well I used to firmly believe that, but my belief was totally shaken when we had the likes of Merson and Samways signed up, a good start in The Championship and yet still often struggled to get 7,000 people through the gate to pay the lowest prices in the entire football league.
Walsall FC may have messed up that season for many different reasons but that was truely the opportunity for the people of the town to get behind the club, it was our 3rd season at that level and yet when push came to shove basically the same 5,500 - 6000 people who will be there next season were the ones that could be bothered to turn up.
The town duely got the football club it deserved, a third division one that will aspire to better things through prudence, common sense, and shrewd management.

I don't buy that mate, sorry. You received a text and, probably without thinking, started a thread about it. Lots of people on here know inside information but choose to keep it to themselves; if it's not true you'll be the one with egg on your face.

As normal, Geordie is correct.
If Scooby thinks we don't spend much money on players, then that's fair enough. We don't, as a rule. If Scooby thinks we should spend more than we do on players, then that's where I'll strongly disagree. If he/she thinks otherwise, then perhaps kindly point out which money is left over in our budget that we could spend on players. Or which money that has been spent on other things should have been spent on players.

Absolutely. To come on here now and suggest you were joking and it was all a big wind up is rubbish. And if that really was your intention, well, it's pretty sad isn't it???

Sounds about right to me too. Still, only four weeks or so until we'll all know who we've signed. This'll all look pretty trivial then.
It's good fun now though!!!

I love this site, I'm just like any Walsall fan, I want these rumours to be true, but you have to admit that when of the veterans of the board come on here and say a player has signed, whoever it maybe, and it appears to be false then there is a feeling of anti-climax and frustration. I just ruffle a few feathers when I place my opinions. Just for the record, I have agreed with comments by virtually every user at some time or other-I'm not looking to make civil war. Frustration is the word I would use(and before you ask I have got a mrs and I don't go short)

Unless I've completely got the wrong end of the stick, which to be fair is completely plausible, I think that [post moderated] played for his team tonight in a friendly.
[post moderated]'s team: Alan Marriott, Ryan Amoo, Nat Brown, Lee Beevers, Phil Watt, Dany N'Guessan, [post moderated], Scott Kerr, Kevin Smith, Steve Torpey, Jamie Forrester
Is that right? If it is, I haven't heard anything over this way about it and I'd usually get a hint at least. If he played in a friendly tonight it would suggest that nothing's imminent.
As I say, I could be way off the mark here, I've only been reading bits and bobs this week because my other half's in hospital and I'm completely lost with what's going on to be honest! Please feel free to ignore/delete as appropriate! :D

Phil, I dont buy that for one moment.
If it turns out to be true then fair play to you for actually putting your neck out and saying he had signed BUT if it turns out to be complete and utter b*****ks then you should every right to feel  because like what has been said above, there is a rumour thread at the top of the board for transfers that "might happen".
