We should handle Grimer's easily enough. But,

Will the pitch f**k us up?
Will the players still be in Gran Canaria mode?

4 nil to Walsall ..........please.

Convincing 3-0 home win for me guy's

Butler with a brace and Par with a debut goal.

Also glad to see everyone is still backing Martin Butler the bloke is too good and works far to hard to take any stick.
I'm sure he'll get back on the goal trail against Grimsby...... :D

Grimsby Town last 6 league games

Lincoln City - lost 0-2
Torquay United - home - won2-0
Hartlepool- away - lost 0-2
Stockport County-away - lost 0-3
Rochdale - home - lost 0-4

If we can't beat this lot we may as well all pack up.

4767. There isnt gonna be many Grimsby fans there, and I dont think there'll be that many school kids there. Plus its on Sky, so there wont be that big an attendance.

41 posts on the match thread and we haven't even played the game yet. Some people only come on here to have a moan.

Walsall's home league record v Grimsby.

Won - 23
Drawn - 5
Lost - 1

That one defeat came in, wait for it, 1897!

They've failed to win in the subsequent 25 league games in Walsall - although they did beat us in the FA Cup - in 1925.

Ever the pessimist, aren't we forgetting that for Butler or Cederqvist to score we'll probably need an ounce of creativity from one of our midfielders. I'm hoping Cederqvist is the new Alan Shearer but even if he is he'll struggle to score many in our team....Butler is a top forward but hasn't scored for months yet I can't remember him actually 'missing' too many decent chances (I wasn't at the Bristol Rovers game). Most of Butlers lean spell can be put down to the lack of creation from the team as a whole.

Walsall 1-0 Grimsby (Dann)

(secretly hoping its Walsall 6-0 Grimsby with hat-tricks from Butler and Per because my predictions usually come back to haunt me)

In all fairness Goalposts, we've created a hatful of chances in the last two matches.

We really should have scored 4 or 5 against both Bristol Rovers and Posh, and both matches showed signs of a bit of creativity and attacking nous returning to the team as well.

Comfortable win tonight, better be anyway if I'm making the effort of a midweek match as I won't get back till gone midnight.

If that's the case then I'm happy to agree with you. I was out of the country for both the Rovers and Posh matches so I can only comment on games up to and including Shrewsbury at home. Against such poor opposition as there is in this league we should be creating plenty of chances even without a decent midfielder (especially against the likes of Grimsby).
