Sorry folks I'm going for a relatively drab 0-0 draw - a right old stalemate.

It's bound to happen cos I'm bringing a mate from work to her first game and it always seems to happen when I bring along a prospective "convert"

1 - 0 to us

We score on 41 minutes. Tommy Tanker gets the goal. Second half is a bit of a mess but we get the three points.

Sounds like the midfield needs perking up a bit. Pead to come on? Wish Ishy was on the bench instead of Bedau.

It was bound to happen sometime. The key now is how we respond to this. The good news at least is wycombe drew and lincoln lost so we are still 7 points clear

Am I cursed? every time I see us play we slip up - both macclesfields, bolton, today, Lincon. I aint seen us win this season!

What ****** me off the most was swindons fans. They were quiet all game (only song 'can we sing a song for you' - very original, when there was plenty of noise on our end). Then 1-0 they thought they were at anfield or something.

Can you say 'you only sing when your winning?'

right then.....

where do i start ??

Ince - The clayton ince i remember of old unfortunately. what was he doing on the first goal ???

Westwood - Poor, where had his touch gone from previous games ?
Roper - worst performance from ropes for 4/5 years for me.
Dann - MOTO - if only the others had the heart of this young lad.
K Taylor - Indecisive, never got forward.

(now heres where the fun starts - midfield)

M Wright - ahhh, well i hope you MWAS disband after this, gutless, shameful, bottler, get rid in January, send him out on loan somewhere, and get someone else in. What a T***. When you need people to step up to the plate, never count on this lad.

Kinsella - never, ever got a foothold in the game, but didnt waste possesion too much, made some good runs, but never picked out.

Dobson - Absolutely dreadful, but Injured, some may ask why was he even playing ? Id say it was because you couldnt throw young Mark bradley into a game like swindon, and playing pead would be dwarf midfield.

Fox - might as well of played in midfield, because he was as wide as nelsons column.

T wright - No service, but never looked interested.

Butler - he tried, tried , tried, but again no support whatsoever.

Ahh so the second half, we change to 4-3-3 with hector sam coming on, fox in midfield then kins off for pead. what happened ? there was nothing. no width, no penetration. rubbish.

BUT, and its a big but, this was always bound to happen sometime or other, we were due a bad un', and this was it. Credit to swindon though, but if the walsall we have coem to know had turned up and fought for the game, then we would have at least drew. 7 points clear still tho, need to get something at wrexham and stop a mini rot of sorts.

Well, I'm very glad I saved my money today.
I was in two minds this morning after the Manager of the Month announcement and had a bad feeling about this one so stayed away.

So tell me how it was, the midfield sounded particurlarly desperate. Kinsella's departure can only exacerbate the situation. I also assume that WHEN we get promoted Wright will be on his bike. He's got to be in mid 20s now and won't get much better.

Mind you, it didn't sound like anyone deserved to come out of this with any credit.

Paul Sturrock is reported to have said that when Swindon lost in the week, it only highlighted the deficiencies that have been present for a long time in the squad. Does the same apply to us now?

Beaten by a much better team credit where credit is due, Swindon were good. I've never seen possession given away so much, woeful control and passing from all except Butler. Dobson, atrocious, a quite diabolical performance and Roper had a mare, interesting to see how we get on at Wrexham.

Sid, Swindon were quite entertaining

It must have been the spirits telling me to answer!

but seriously! The midfield was atrocious. Especially the wingers. What me and phil have been saying all along is coming to fruition now. Mark wright is useless, dobson was useless, kinsella was bypassed, fox was playing in midfield when he should have been on the wing.

Well, what an atrocious performance that was.

Once again we gave no support or service to our front men, our midfield performance today was one of the worst I've ever seen in professional football.

Mark Wright, he's a disgrace. Big games require players to stand up and be counted, what a pussy Mark Wright is. New nickname; Darcy Bussell. Will someone get a video of Christian Roberts and send it to Mark Wright labelling "Proper Right Winger"

Dobson, absolutely awful. The amount clumsy, lazy passes this chap gave away is unbelievable. He was also very slow, looked as if he was struggling for fitness.

Fox, another atrocious performance, slow, unfit, no legs, no will to get forward.

Kinsella, last game, struggled, didnt have the legs to keep up with Swindon.

At the end of the day, Swindon had a very pacy, very quick midfield, they chased, harried, they wanted it more, they moved the ball quickly where as we just wait and wait and wait, then lump it up.

No blame whatsoever should go to the forwards, they got no service what so ever, balls were just pumped up over their heads - thats awful football, and today I was embarassed by our performance.

And now we come to the enigma that is Chris Westwood. Two weeks ago this guy was like a marvel - today he had his worst game in Walsall colours. He was terrible. I don't even know if there is a word to describe how bad Westwood was today.

We started brightly, but we lack ideas going forward, and in my opinion we need to replace the entire midfield. Kinsella has now gone, Wright would struggle to hold down a place in the conference, Fox is useless, unfit and slow, and Dobson, on today's evidence needs a spell in the stiffs.

Today was a big big game, it could have put us 12 points ahead, it was a huge game, we needed our players to stand up and be counted, and Wright, Dobson, Fox and Westwood were simply not good enough.

I was there today thank you metfan...and we've been begging for this defeat for a while...we were out classed...we had a defensive block of 8 men as per usual...and we just hadn't got a clue how to handle being 2 goals down...DDs system just isnt flexible enough and i can imagine the swindon fans saying i thought they were better than that.

The most apparent thing for me today was the long punt down the middle, time after bloody time. Awful!

Let's just hope that this was a minor blip and not the start of the decline.

In fairness we were beaten by the better team, thay had obviously done their homework and came with a game plan to beat us. We made it easier for them as so many of our players had an absolute nightmare. Yet again we were outplayed in midfield meaning absolutely no service to the front men. When the ball did get forward Butler ran his heart out again but Tommy 'anonymous' Wright did s*d all.

The first home defeat had to come sometime, just a bitter pill to swallow when it does. We can still console ourselves with a look at the league table:
7 points clear
9 clear of 4th place
16 clear of 8th place
Only 2 defeats in 21 games.
We are still guaranteed to be top at Christmas no matter what happpens.

The thing we need is players with balls in midfield, players that make a difference to a game - like Butler, Butler works and works, tries to make things happen, players like Wright and Fox simply go with the flow and have no effect on the game.
