Oh my ... well that's alright then.
These are now 'points' ???
Here are some real export and growth rate facts, not predictions:
UK exports $436.5 billion (2017 est.)
UK growth rate (spot the trend?)
1.7% (2017 est.)
1.8% (2016 est.)
2.2% (2015 est.)
German exports $1.401 trillion (2017 est.)
German growth rate (spot the trend?)
2.1% (2017 est.)
1.9% (2016 est.)
1.5% (2015 est.)
Oh dear, so other countries can export too, and some are much better at it than us!
But 'cheese to France' :|

When's the German automotive industry going to save us? I thought they couldn't live without us?

Exactly - it doesn't make sense that they should be bothered with one of the top global economies when they can count on Estonia, Malta and Cyprus to pick up our slack.
Why on earth would it be suggested to Theresa May this week in Munich that she should arrange a 2nd referendum and why did the German Ambassador get the largest applause for suggesting that we stay? It doesn't make sense why oh why are they bothered about what we do because we are insignificant to them . Germany and France can manage to fund the other 24 they should be alright without us

What slack?
Is this the absurd suggestion that Germany and France will be struggling after we leave? Oh my flipping Christ.
The key point is actually in your own post - the EU is a collection of countries. We're on our own. Our trading exports suddenly become much, much more important as opposed to any effect our leaving might have on the EU.
We're suddenly going to be in the position of scrabbling around, desperately pandering to China et al for them to throw us a bone. What's that about Tibet? Taiwan? No, siree we never liked them anyway *deep bow*
We've become slaves to our own stupidity and I'm not sure you realise what's going on.

Re: Brexit Breakfast
I absolutely agree that the 26 countries can manage without us
That is why I also agree with walking away and paying them nada.
But for some reason they seem to be panicking about having money from us I don't understand why if they have enough between them already why do they want money from us ?
Is there any chance that you could explain to the Germans and the French that they don't really need our money now because our share will be paid by the likes of Portugal , italy , Greece, and Spain , who I believe are all flush.

I'm not part of the negotiating team.
Furthermore in order to reach a deal, any deal, regarding our exit, we're going to hand over a mOssive wodge of cash. That's already been agreed.
I don't think the Germans / French / Dutch / Swedes or anyone else are at all concerned about carrying on without us or twisting their panties about getting our exit money. Neither will they struggle without our membership. After all as everyone keeps saying we'll be very, very keen to trade with them on whatever terms they deem fit.
They'll be quite happy being part of the largest trading block on earth.
And we won't.

I partly agree Saigon the EU are not bothered about the UK never have been never will but they are bothered about getting money this is why first talks were all about money.
i could be be wrong but I believe we are in the top 3 contributors with Germany and France and that gap will have to be filled by 1 or 2 countries because all the rest 20+ little countries will be there waiting for their handouts while paying little inthis is why most joined to get as much as they can.
As for any trade deal I agree with something Manchester said if you leave a club you do not expect to get any benefits out of it TRUE but also you do not expect to pay for anything in the future or pay because they have lost your membership fees which seems to be the EU stance.
I believe and I wait to be shouted down that if we do not get some sort of mutual trade deal we do not pay a penny.

Access to the club will incur a charge, which is likely to be roughly what we were paying in before we left. This time without the benefits of having a say or a proportion of the EU agencies. Norway is in the same boat.
If we don't get a customs union then we'll be adrift, goods subject to tariffs and finding it difficult to sell our limited exports just when we need it most.
The exit money issue has only come about because there were political elements in the UK exclaiming that we'd leave and not pay anything. This has now been resolved.

We had already committed to future payments - the EU are making sure that we don't leave without fulfilling them. In the event that this pig-headed Brexit still goes through I would favour the BRINO option rather than throwing ourselves off a cliff edge. Nevertheless we will STILL be worse off. How can we not be?

Thanks Swampy - interesting read. :D
The first thing is that I have never called Brexiteers thick although I have to admit that I have implied that there are are xenophobic reasons behind the leave vote choice.
I saw something recently that showed the main reason for Brexit was immigration and of course that brings out xenophobia. I've chatted to quite a few people in my quest to find out why people voted Leave and they have ranged from downright racism at one end of the spectrum to a deep mistrust of the EU from the other.
I would at this point like to dismiss the racists because their reasons are plain obvious but if we swing towards the less extreme reasons for voting Leave it seems that the reasons really come down to whether you trust the EU or not and whether you really want to be part of the club.
It's interesting because the older Brexiteers I have spoken to really do see the changes we have gone through over the past 20 years or so as bad.
So in simple terms it is based on whether we think the EU is causing us harm.
I think it isn't - I think it is making us better. All this talk about "corrupt unelected EU" really only applies to the European Commission - but the thing is we have the civil service which serves exactly the same purpose and they too are unelected. I never hear any Brexiteers wringing their hands about that.
Nor do I hear Brexiteers wringing their hands about our unelected House of Lords.
That is what amazes me most.
I look forward to reading briefingsforbrexit.com in the next week or so - I may actually get some answers to the questions that UTS (and other) Brexiteers are unable to answer (yes I am still waiting Cully :D ).
I also hope that there is some feedback so I can discuss things with them.
So - Swampy - care to share YOUR reasons why Brexit is so brilliant? :D

Believe what you like, but article 50 calls for the EU to determine the exit deal, not the UK. To extend the club analogy, think of it like a golf club. Currently we are full paying members, with a seat on the committee that allows us to determine which rules we like and veto those we don't. When we leave, we give all that up, but because we want to keep playing the course we have to keep paying the green fees, as determined by the club we just left.

Thought so
So no actual facts then - no full charges known and no tariffs confirmed
Just saigon's opinion based on what the media think
Important to clarify I think

Or you choose to give notice on your membership and play elsewhere leaving only 2 members to subsidise the rest

Re: Brexit Breakfast
You can choose to play elsewhere, but applications take a long time to process, and there's no guarantee they'll be accepted.. Your original membership allowed you to play these other clubs already, at great rates, but now you're on your own...
Oh, and your current club is on your doorstep, not half way across the next county...

This is because I gave attended Institute of Directors briefings and Chamber of Commerce meetings this last month and no one has come anywhere close to you about costs and tariffs
Depends which media you read. It's not secret info.
Thought so
So no actual facts then - no full charges known and no tariffs confirmed
Just saigon's opinion based on what the media think
Important to clarify I think
Er, no. It's not my opinion, we've agreed to pay 40 billion. That's a fact. What are you quibbling about?
Are you saying we won't have to pay anything to exit? Are you saying there won't be tariffs if there's no custom's union - because I think we need to determine fact from fantasy. You're remarkably uninformed about the basics. No wonder you're pro leave, you simply can't be bothered to read anything.

Yes, you can elect to play in a turd sand pit, but let's return to reality. Britain needs to trade with Europe, you know like people have for the last several thousand years.
:?:
Let's literally slice our entire face off to prove a point. Does anyone you vote for have this as a policy by the way? The ignore Europe and sulk party?
