Coventry City (H) EFL Trophy Tues Oct 3, 7.45pm
On the . . . green
Of Shakespeare's county shine!
(Hamilton)
This game has rarity value - at kick-off we are top of the table, which is not something we can say that often! It offers Jon Whitney the opportunity to experiment with formations and tactics bearing in mind that all EFL clubs must name their strongest line-up for these games, and failure to do so can attract a fine of up to £5,000 ....... it's likely that Coventry City will be treating this competition seriously as they are the current Trophy holders, having won it last year while being relegated at the same time. In their first fixture of this competition they lost 2-3 at home to the Sloppies, but in League 2 they're riding high in the play-off zone. Current League 2 form (playing their strongest line-up)
9 Sep Port Vale (H) Won 1-0
12 Sep Carlisle United (H) Won 2-0
16 Sep Cambridge United (A) Lost 2-1
23 Sep Exeter City (H) Won 2-0
26 Sep Swindon Town (A) Won 1-2
30 Sep Crewe Alexandra (H) Won 1-0
Mark Gillespie's injury sustained at Wigan was judged to be serious enough to withdraw him for the 2nd half, and it may be that Liam Roberts will get his chance for a full game. We might even get 3 Roberts's's's at the Banks's's's' ...... Our defence (forgive the language) has to be the biggest worry - here we are after 13 competitive fixtures (11 League, 2 Cup/Trophy) and still no clean sheet to show.
Whatever happens in this game there is no doubt that next Saturday will be looming large in everyone's mind, when we entertain Shrewsbury Town's runaway League One leaders. On that basis, with players aiming to be "up for" the Saturday game (rather than mentally resting on the beach the last time we played Coventry City) I'll predict a 2-0 home win - Agyei and Edwards to score, and Roberts to celebrate keeping a clean sheet by saving the customary penalty awarded by a fussy referee........

If you don't go to this you are braindead. Only true loyal fans will be there.

I admitted after the last game that I was brain dead and nothing has changed.

Saddlers 1-2 Coventry with their winner late on in front of 1,100 (with 300 away) but not me.
Agyei for us, but will be inexplicably left out of the starting line up on Saturday

The match against the Albion youngsters was excellent value for money .....a fiver for me and I will be there supporting the team. I think we will win and maybe that will help with confidence with Saturday in mind.

Of course he will, Whitney knows what he's doing alright, so on Saturday expect Baky up front, to do his usual sweet nothings, Roberts & Agyei, bench warming, whilst Salop joyfully swarm all over us celebrating the fact that 'our' manager (   ) couldn't organise a proverbial pith up in a brewery.
On to the Mickey Mouse match tonight, I would expect a 0-2 scoreline to add further insult to a dreadful few days.

Thanks for that, Guest - BBC don't condescend to give any information on this Mickey Mouse event ...
Interesting to see that our "strongest available team" puts Edwards and Oztumer on the bench....... :?

If we equalise, then Coventry get up to five penalties at the end. Might be a good way to burn through the quota of penalties against for October.

Re: Coventry City (H) EFL Trophy Tues Oct 3, 7.45pm
although in 1 way I couldn't give a flying fig about this competition to be losing at home to a lower league side who have changed their complete side all but 1 player is still a bloody disgrace.
were consistently inconsistent and always will be under whitney
