sounded like a fantastic effort first half. i just hope john keeps his mouth shut in the dressing room at half time judging by our other second half performances :| and it looks like we are playing better without edwards

Very impressive first half both before and after the sending off. No doubt 45 mins of Bolton pressure coming our way.

Could be a season defining second 45, keep our nerve, sensible use of subs, keep it tight and we can creep into mid table obscurity

Balls it up, however, we are 21st looking down and Bolton get their top spot back

Glad in a way circumstances have meant I am missing this one TTF

Looks like it's backs to the wall, constant pressure from Bolton, attempt after attempt, will one of them go in or will we pull off what would appear to be a wonder win?

Some strange goings on re Etheridge.....wins a free kick in the attacking half?.......booked, and then injured, hope it's not serious, there is a delay! :(

We need to hang on to this win, as currently only 3 points separate 10 clubs in the bottom half of the table, and there have been some stunning results for bottom half clubs all over. Keep 'em out me babbies!!!!

Amazing result that....hopefully that shot in the arm that gets the team up and running for this season.

Only query is how can they keep a clean sheet against top of the league with 10 men yet concede 2-3s to pub teams....suppose that's the Walsall way.

AM can you save me a seat for your Monday open top bus ride around Leigh please....hopefully we'll avoid the pitchforks from the Bolton supporters club.

Sounded like we played well both before and after the sending off, and didn't just sit deep to defend the lead.

Hopefully this gets our season up and running. :D

They are mainly UTD fans or Liverpool fans round Leigh. Not interested in Wigan which is their Borough !

if we can beat top of the table with 10 men then we can beat anyone. hopefully this will give us the belief to achieve that :D but we ALWAYS play better against the better teams and struggle against the poorer ones :(

Fantastic performance.
Ref was diabolical and linesmen not much better.
By the end of the 90 minutes decisions had evened themselves out though.
Ref saved their keepers blushes at the end. He'd come up for the corner and then it was cleared and Bakayoko had got him beat in the race back to their half... but the ref blew for full time after adding about 10 minutes.

Etheridge MotM in my opinion, closely followed by Ozzy. Some incredible saves and we need to get him another contract if possible.

Hopefully this is our watershed moment, UTS!!!

Also lol at their sub who got himself booked for entering the field of play before the jobsworth ref allowed him to then got the yellow late on that resulted in a red and an early bath!

Great win. He did the right think taking an overweight Moussa out of the team.

Showed Steel for the first time this season.

They are weird games against clubs like bolton, in the lead up I don't care but as it comes round I bloody hope we win.

We always play a club like them....

13/14 - Wolves
14/15 - Bristol City
15/16 - Wigan

I'll admit now I had little faith but it's amazing how happy 3 points can make you.

I quite liked the line up when I heard it, but obviously the plan had to be revised with the very early sending off.

The team deserve great credit for the way that they dealt with the situation, especially going on to get the win.

If ever you have to go down to ten men though, you would want it to be against Bolton, who simply can't play football on the evidence of that.

Because Bolton didn't have the wherewithal/ability to play around us or make us work too hard, we were able to produce a performance of control and resilience.

I thought the introduction of Clough might be a turning point, but we dealt with his threat comfortably.

McCarthy showed again that if he is worth a place in the team, it has to be at full back.

I hope Toner settles down and improves as ideally we need a left footed centre half to provide balance.

Laird was very steady and looks a good signing.

Makris adapted very well to the situation and did a good job.

It was nice to see the togetherness and understanding of how to play out the game.

Etheridge produced a fine display to cut out the occasional Bolton threat.

We created a few opportunities that with a little more composure might have resulted in further goals.

Whether this win will kick start our season remains to be seen, but it was certainly heartening to be there today.

Mostly Leythers (Leigh Rugby League club) who have at last got back into the big time next season. Free entry today into their stadium for the celebrations after their last match. If only football would learn how to encourage faithful support like that!
