I too can see him saving himself in that manner, then we will lose the next two away for sure and get no more than a point against Oldham, and be right back where we started going into March.
If anyone cares to take a look at our remaining fixtures and tell me where 6 wins are coming from that doesn't involve at least a couple of wins away or a couple of wins against top half teams then feel free.
When you start looking at it like that if we survive we are likely to do it by the bones of our backside. Scunny, Vale, Yeovil and Brizzle are the only home games we have against lower half opposition and we surely have to win all 4 of them. Can anyone say hand on heart we will definitely beat Brizzle, or even Vale on current form? Fail to win a couple of those and we are as good as down unless something drastic happens away from home, reminder we have won EIGHT away games in nearly two years under Merson.
1 against the team currently second bottom of the entire football league.
1 against a team in Halesowen's league.
1 against a team playing with 10 men for 70 minutes
and 5 playing the long since abandoned 4-5-1, 3 of which were with JJ and Surman in the team, and one down to a freak last minute goal.
We have never won a "bread and butter" away game under Merson playing 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1. ie the two formations we tend to use now, frightening.

What next ?
Like almost every one else I think we will lose at brentford.
Has anyone thought what might happen if PM does the the push?
What will a new guy do with 786 midfield players, no decent forward/goalscorer and a dodgy goalie ?
Watch this space !!!

Geordie, you or someone else needs to send that post/information to Jeff Bonser to highlight how important it is to get rid of Merson NOW. Even if he does get the results to save his skin tomorrow and next week, the old results will return very soon and it will be too late to do anything about it then.

Hard fought draw today...
However, it doesn't make no odds what the result it today, unless it is a heavy and humiliating defeat. He won't be sacked for a loss away at Brentford.
Next week is high noon - lose to Scunthorpe in what is a relegation 6 pointer, and Merson will be on his bike, or will be lynched (whichever comes first).
If results go against us today, we could be in our lowest position since 1995, I think.

If we lose today all it takes for us to be bottom 4 is Hartlepool to win at Rotherham - Pools are decent away from home and have a new man in charge today. Btistol City to get a point at Barnsley, and Scunny to beat Franchise at home. Could he survive that? I very much doubt it.
However I actually think we will get something in typical Merson nut saving fashion. We are just due a win. And then the agony will go on for sure.

No consistency at all...
You tell a lad publically that he is useless, and then just 5 weeks later stick him upfront in the game which will determine what footing he is on going into next Saturday, which is high noon.
Smith on the left despite him pleading not to be played there.
No Constable, no Ishmel and no Timm - despite them being 3 of the 5 players in our squad who, I think, are most likely to create and to score.
Take back what I said a little over an hour ago - heavy defeat, angry fans, suicidal Merson, nervous Bonser coming our way at 4.45.
