There's the substitution to end all substitutions!!!
Jordan Cook comes on at 90 + 2 minutes, replacing Preston  What on earth can he do in that time???
(watch him score now)
And at 90 + 4 minutes, Demetriou gets Walsall's FIFTH yellow card.......

Our settling in our true position is finally taking place, from 1st down to 6th or 7th

I'd have taken 6th at the start of the season, and I imagine you would given your posts from last season?

I await reports from those that were there, I don't think they are going to be positive!

6 teams have scored more than us
Wigan now unbeaten in 11 matches
We have only won 1 of our last 5
8 matches without a clean sheet
14 goals conceded in our last 8 matches
Big struggle now to make 6th place......I don't see us doing it, 7th or 8th is perhaps more likely
Players need to take one game at a time and stop talking about winning the title....as at the moment we can't even win one game against anyone
Should turn our attention to being positive in scoring goals in each game

Don't see us winning that, and even if we do, we will lose the following game probably

He's certainly not covering himself in glory, the subs in our last two games would be funny if they weren't so appallingly crud, how can a sub sent on at 90+2 minutes make ANY difference? :(

fudge frustrating. We are dipping quite badly in all fairness, need a partner for Bradshaw for a start. Teams have figured us out and we aren't doing much about it.

Yes, but with so many games seemingly wasted, we could have been first or second...even if we don't possess the best squad...
It has to be a disappointment for the players not to make the top two.....and if not even the top six, then the season will seem like a real car crash after leading the race

Sadly a lot of managers (and Walsall ones) have been guilty of the idiocy of giving subs 5 minutes to turn games around

The result is about right Wigan were the better side. Two amazing goals there first and mantoms volley saying that their second wasn't bad.
NO RICO again ! Taylor had a decent game in fairness.
The heart is gone out out of this team they seem confused as to what they are supposed to be doing.
On to Burton

don't think it is just teams working us out...I think our play has stalled and gone backwards, the wheels are falling off...maybe in spectacular fashion...like those motor racing accidents where parts go flying off all over the place

I just feel we just haven't changed it up or strengthened where others have. Gone stale somewhat, could be our downfall.

Re: Wigan Athletic (H) League One, 20th Feb 3pm
Absolutely gutted.
The first half was shite, would have easily been 0-0 at half time had Matt Preston not gone bonkers and try to dribble past 8 players. Fair play to their lad though, thats how you hit a ball, no one was stopping that.
Second half we were cack, until Mantom leathered one and the confidence flowed through the team, extra yard of pace, winning tackles. Still, chances at a premium, a bit more luck we would have scored a second. It was like watching 2015 Walsall.
A draw would have been a fair result. However, when you invest in your squad, you bring on a Wildschut instead of a Jordan Cook. It was a well hit shot but a keeper should not be beaten like he was, not sure if it was deflected. He had the freedom of Walsall anyway.
That looks like a nail in the coffin of auto promotion. We will be another one of those league one nearly boys. Look what happened to the last two?
We do seem to be going backwards, O dismal does not really instill me with confidence, everyone was so consumed with holding onto players in January we forgot to get promoted you need to get more players in. The players look low on confidence and sharpness.
This Rico Henry debacle has a very bad smell about it too. Something is not right.

You offer precisely nothing to the match thread except constant banal wibblings.
The ultimate fart in a bottle, why do you bob up like a fresh turd when anything goes wrong? Have you really nothing better to do than have your finger poised over the disgorge button on match days?
Must be approaching double figures for the number of people who have blocked you now. I can only offer my sincere apologies for those who have to chance across this response to your stupefying ridiculousness; you pusillanimous, bobble-headed womble.

Re: Wigan Athletic (H) League One, 20th Feb 3pm
Firstly let's be honest - Wigan outplayed us in the first half and we were lucky not to be 0-3 at half time.
That said and credit where it's due, the boys did get it together for a decent period in the second half and the spell leading up to and immediately after the superb equaliser was good to see...
Also what a great game Fordy had - worked his nuts off and did some decent stuff in a quite poor game with far too many awkward challenges for 2 good footballing sides (can't remember last time we picked up that many bookings in a single game..)
However, I'm becoming seriously worried that SOD is losing this team - I appreciate he has his methods and his work ethic is probably fine but they are simply being found out by every team we play against and with the first sign of opposing team quality, we get punished... Blackpool, Millwall, Crewe included...
No idea why Rico didn't feature today and god knows what the Boro are thinking about Bryn Morris's little holiday in the West Midlands!! I imagine at the first opportunity he'll back to Teeside.
I'd have been delighted with a point today and I'm trying to be as positive as possible with the game in hand we've still got but our current firm is nowhere near play off or promotion quality - in fact, it's a distinct worry..

Yeah, so would I, but not when we have been top 2 for so much of the season and appear it is just dribbling away.
We need a injection of something and it doesn't appear to be happening at the mo. :?

Agree Vader and I'm sure the vocal support is fairly well guaranteed with the number of us due to be there but 'gone stale' are superbly appropriate words for what's currently being dished up..
I'm worried the players are losing a bit of fight and it has to be down to how and what they are being asked to do because we've lost the quality and efficiency of the first half if the season.. I'm seriously worried that Tom us now being wasted as a fancy target man - his determination to shake defenders off us impressive in itself but to what end??? There's no possibility of end product with the way we play..
One positive today was that we had a decent number of long range shots that were actually on target..

Why, oh why, do these little 'disagreements' always descend to the level of name-calling?

We didn't deserve a point in all honesty did we?
We played well for 20 mins a game of football is 90 mins we could have been 3-0. Down at half time.
Everyone calling for a big striker to play up with Tom need to realise that if that happens we're dropping Sawyers that will not happen I guarantee and before anyone says yeah but Sawyers can play a deeper role you're probably the same people who've moan about his playing to deep, you can't have it both ways.
Today was pretty bad the only positive was Gillingham lost.
