Walsall to win 3-0.
Bradshaw x 2 (another from the spot) & Lalkovic.

Has to be for me if O'Connor is definitely out. O'Connor will be a huge loss if he is out, he's been a colossus for us so many times this season, particularly at Wigan, he was a brick wall!

It's probably my memory playing tricks, but all of our previous promotion seasons seem to have been accompanied by disappointing home defeats against Bury and/or Chesterfield.
Walsall 0 - Chesterfield 2, with Walsall eventually winning the division for the first time.

Re: Chesterfield (H) League One, 17th Oct 3pm
If O'Connor is out for a few weeks I'd get a loan defender in like when Butler came back for a bit start of last season.
The position is too good in the league to start dropping silly points because there is no depth in central defence, remember James Chambers was never replaced in the squad.
Hopefully Preston can step up for the game but he's a rookie at this level so don't expect miracles although he does have the build of someone who eats centre forwards for breakfast, him making Ebanks Blake should be a sumo tournament.

Smith was looking to get Plummer in from Citeh recently, so presumably he's been looking at other options at centre half too.
It would be harsh on Preston not to get a chance though. He hasn't put a foot wrong when he's had a chance.

I agree.
Anyway I'm going for 2-0.
I was going to say 4-3 with Ernie Moss getting a hat trick, but then I remembered that the Crawley Assassin was in charge...

Regarding Matt Preston, if we don't play him, we never gonna know how good he is.
Talk of getting in a loan signing may be premature, as people have already said, he looks the part, if only in cameo appearances. A starting place against one of the lower? teams in the division may be ideal.

That's made me start singing slightly changed lyrics (to sing to O'Connor) to the Electronic song Get The Message.
"I've always thought of you as my brick wall, bald as a cueball, six feet tall"
(I've just Googled and unfortunately he isn't 6' tall).

Walsall 1 Chesterfield 0, lalkovic.
ATT: 4750 - 430 away fan's
I'm expecting quite a scrappy game for some reason I think it's because it takes two good teams to make a good game and now the legendary Dean Saunders is in charge at Chesterfield they are definitely not a good team.
Matt Preston played 70 mins vs Boldmere on Tuesday in the walsall senior cup probably taken off early to keep him fresh for this game.

A great song, so don't let facts spoil it!

Re: Chesterfield (H) League One, 17th Oct 3pm
It is a game we have to win if we are to finish in top 2 I think...but I am still concerned about our ability to score. If we keep up our current level of defence success then I guess it will be enough, but that will be difficult as some teams will start getting their act together a bit...
It seems our shot taking and chance creating has stalled a little recently.
I expect half of the chasing pack to win today, but I have a feeling we wont win...maybe a 0-1 or 1-2 loss, but maybe we are also due a strong 4-0 win

Joining us at the game today sallian so you can base your thoughts on what you actually see with your own eyes?
Beating top of the league 2-0 last week last week was definitely a 'stall'

again our lack of goals...
chesterfield also dominating possession
Wigan up 4-0
if we cant score 2,3 and 4 in a game we wont make it

Obviously, Sallian, your advice has fallen on deaf ears.

Should be level at least and want to sound like a broken record but Flanagan is our weak link, do not care that he does not hide but that free kick summed him up at the minute.

To think that I was going to pay to watch half a match.
Top or not, playing well or not, to let him score against us is enough to convince me to keep my money.
