Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
How can he have put Flanagan in, with Lalkovic & Morris warming the bench?
Has he lost his marbles altogether?
Home form jinx raising it's ugly head again I fear.
Never mind, I cut out the League One table from the papers, and have laminated it, just to prove that we were once top of our League! Shame it could never have become a permanent thing. :(

No changes made at half time, so same team.

Think that's about 'it' for REAL supporters. We have a minute fan base, most of whom are loyal but finding a new breed of supporter will be a hard battle.

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
The form book said high scoring game edged by Walsall...which meant 0-1 was likely (in the eternal you can't predict what is expected law) against a team that hadn't won.... Walsall still good at being the reviver of struggling teams
I thought the Morecambe loss was a significant psychological dent... once the invincibility mask has fallen and the weakness has been exposed it is forever vulnerable.... like Tyson and Buster Douglas
I think they need to sort things out psychologically...see themselves as leaders again, otherwise it will unravel fast.... 2 consecutive losses doesn't make 6 consecutive wins sound so good

If you haven't got 2 wing backs available don't play the system. Square pegs round holes.

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
Everyone was a 6 today apart from Flanagan who I'll give 1 for getting his boots on the right feet and 0 for Cook who offers absolutely nothing.
Today was the perfect example why it is so important for us to score first at home, we could have played for another hour and we still wouldn't have scored.
Onwards and upwards 13 points from 6 games is promotion form.

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
Think Dean played the wrong system today, 433 for me against their two decent wingers, and with ours exposing their full backs.
Ah well, we huffed and puffed but couldn't break down Bury who had 10 men in their box for 70 minutes, fair play to them.
Tom was feeding off scraps but we just didn't have the quality today to create any really good chances against their parked bus.

To be fair the rest of the side folded in front of him and gave them a free shot for their goal.
We never got going. Seemed to start the game thinking we should walk it as we were top of the league and no effort would be required. How wrong we were!

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
Didn't go today as coming back from holiday, but listening to some of WM commentary. It sounded like the same old story: come up against a big, well-organised side, fall behind and then have no plan B when we can't break them down. It sounds like our lack of squad depth (no right back cover and no central striker cover) forced Deano to play 3-5-1-1 which was the wrong formation. He should have played 4-1-4-1 as he did against Coventry. Lalkovic should have started, no doubt about that. So, today showed what we all knew: that we need more depth in the squad - a right back to cover Demetriou's absence and a central striker to take the pressure off Bradshaw. Let's hope Deano remedies these obvious failings soon.

Formation was wrong, and now I'm back home watching the England game it's like watching the same game, 1 side attacking 1 team with everybody inside the 18 yard box with 1 man left upfront. Bury got a result though.
Flanagan is very wasteful and too weak in the challenge, like to see the new guy who was unveiled.
Disappointed we didn't switch on to their keeper keep playing the short ball, I thought he was very good today made 4/5 good saves.
Bury come out fast got the goal, and that was it.
Lalkovic Sawyers and Bradshaw need to start together.
A win next week will still be a very good return of points, let's not take our foot off, got a full week to prepare now.

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
We seemed to play the wrong system from the start today and the Smith of old appeared. Instead of changing it he continued to shoe horn players into the system finishing with Cook at wing back and Morris in the middle!
The Forde at wingback experiment failed so hopefully won't be repeated. The midfield 3 just seemed to be on top of each other all the time.
Demetriou has become the most important player in the team and is irreplaceable! The irony is last season we had right backs galore, this season we are left with a gap when he is on international duty. I would gave played 4 at the back today but still unsure as to who we would have played at right back.
Totally frustrating game and shows that a well drilled, physical side will continue to cause us problems.
13 points from 6 games we all would have taken, however our Achilles heal will continue to be at home where we have 4 points from 9. We need to improve this and quickly.

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
Today just proved how vital Demetriou is to us. Smith got it wrong today. We desperately need cover at right back.
I don't think we deserved to lose the game. It was a smash and grab. Bury defended very well so fair play to them.
Id give everyone a 6 out of 10 apart from Forde and Flanagan. Both were fudge useless. Cook is absolue dogshite too.
Wasn't our day but we move on.
A win next week and today will be forgotten.

Re: Bury (H) League One, 5th September, 3pm
Felt today from the kick off we weren't going to win. Started slow, carried on being slow, picked up a bit then back to slow. Granted Flanagan didn't have the best game but he kept going and didn't hide. The subs made I agreed with but they should have been done at half time. My only thing was taking Forde off and Cook on. They are one and the same player. We badly missed Demetriou and Etheridge. It may be me but our defence just don't look confident with him. Bury played well in the first 10 mins but then parked a fleet of wumpty buses making it impossible to break down. Time wasting from the first 10 mins but you need to beat what's in front of you and today we didn't. We need to win the next game to halt a winless streak.
