I expect him to score quite a few this season for Barrow and hopefully revive his career after Dean Smith seemed to try and ruin him

You picked that bit out, I felt the bit about Manset was even more amusing !

I'm just shocked people actually read his posts...

As for the game, 2-0 to us... Super Tom and Mantom (this optimism may not last long).

Very shocking...I wanted two players to stay who were quite good and weren't given much of a chance, especially Grimes. Also shocking.... offensive formation and tactics messed up Walsall's last season of higher potential.... a point I continuously made from the beginning but was ridiculed for on this board....and then most of you came round to agreeing...and even Dean Smith is half seeing it or indirectly admitting it judging by his words.... SHOCKING

I've decided I will base my decision if I travel to Nottingham on Tuesday or not depending on how well we get on tomorrow, if we don't win I simply won't be travelling the hour and a half to watch us lose 4-0  but I predict a 2-1 to supper saddlers or a boring 0-0 draw.

Well Oldham were comfortably dispatched 2-0 only a few months ago and since then they've made mediocre signings, David Dunn must be about 38 now surely, I remember watching him at Villa Park in the late 90s!

I know first day is unpredictable but I'd be disappointed with no win tomorrow as with their rookie manager I think Oldham will struggle big time this season. They have a poor record in recent times at Bescot aswell.

3-1 to us, basing that totally on the fact that ive caught 3 Carp this morning and my mates caught 1.

Bradshaw (2)
Lalkovic (although i am tempted to say sawyers because the last one i caught looked just like him)

I think we will win this and be in the top 6 at the end of the day, even top 2.

All we have to do then is stay there! Simple.

I am Optimistic this season

Forgive me, but I think that you are slightly pessimistic.
Looking at the excellent squad that Dean Smith has at his disposal and his new attacking formation, I fully expect the Saddlers to be Champions this season.

1-1 in front of about 4,000 seems to be the wisdom of crowds.
Bradshaw to try and claim it but it's an own goal.

Sawyers to contemplate the notion of self in the style of the Monty Python Philosopoher's XI, before heading down Wednesbury Road to try and engineer a move to the London Gynaecologists.

Walsall 3 - 1 Att 5,156

Bradshaw scoring twice (1 from the Penalty spot), then the second after rounding the keeper. We are comfortable at 2-0 before a defensive mistake gets the Latic's back in the game before the wonder kid Morris comes on and seals the victory with a late goal.

Sorry for not being specific enough.

2-2....but hopefully we win. Bradshaw with both, then he'll score the only other goals we get for the rest of the season, then Watford (Knowing they can get good strikers off us for peanuts) will come in with an offer....however after all that he still can't break into the Wales squad.

Here`s hoping for a good start to the season with a win. The team should be more settled as they have had longer to gel together than previous seasons me thinks. Come on the lads sock it to them.

Etheridge's striking of a moving ball is hopeless but like the fact he's quick off his line to pounce on loose balls

An ok start.

One of the front two needs to drop back when we are defending, we look too exposed.

So, after 45 mins of having 2 up top you'd now like us to play 1 up front
 :?

Oldham appear to be getting on top and first sub:
OLDHAM SUB: Turner OFF Forte ON.

And second sub:
WALSALL SUB: Cook OFF Lalkovic ON

And like buses a third sub:
OLDHAM SUB: Winchester OFF Dunn ON

Elsewhere the division favorites (well in Yorkshire anyway) Sheffield Utd are 2-0 down to Gillingham.

And Oldham make their last throw of the dice:

Sub, Oldham Athletic. Danny Philliskirk replaces Lee Croft.

Attendance is 5,009 (991 Oldham Athletic)
