Rushall Olympic (A) friendly Weds 22 July 7.30
The standard game against the team with a pub, a chip van and a pointy-shoed supporter...

Actually, he of the pointy shoes and cardigan only attends occasionally now (he re-married, last year, you see).
Licensed bar in clubhouse, no chip van but an excellent refreshment bar, selling aforesaid chips.
Adults (aged 18 to 59) - £6
Concessions - £3
Children of Primary School age - free (if accompanied by an adult)
Fans of Dingles or Vile - £50
There will be a match programme, price £2

Will be there. I now qualify for concession rates!! The pie and chips will probably cost more than the admission fee.
Looking forward to it (but not sure why) :D

Big centre TV on channel 8 free view the Midlands own TV channel, if you haven't yet seen it check it out you will be amazed. It inspired me to thinking about making my own TV channel with the £17.80 in my bank I think that was about the budget they used.

The trialist looks like roger Johnson but it isn't him
I think they've called him Jon or Rob when calling for the ball

Re: Rushall Olympic (A) friendly Weds 22 July 7.30
Walsall played ok Rico Henry didn't really do much, Flannagan kept giving the ball away but was still probably the best footballer on the pitch,Kinsella played well, Murphy will always score given a chance his problem is we don't create enough clear cut chances he's like a Robbie Fowler type player always impressed when I see him, Bakayoko is terrible can't even head the ball and he's 7ft tall he's a bit of a nuisance for opposition player's though he floats about quite a bit, the trialist was pretty much average not bad but didn't stand out,
What we've learnt is Murphy should definitely be in the first team squad on matchdays
Flannagan is still to weak
Kinsella isn't quite ready
Rico isn't quite ready
The rest of them are a long way off.

Just throwing a name out there for the trialist - Jamie Mccombe
Former Bristol City and importantly Doncaster.
Centre half, 6ft 2, and looks like the guy who played tonight
Recently been on trial at Bradford

A fair shout and is a solid performer at this level. Perhaps the best we can hope for.

If it is McCombe then he would certainly tick some boxes...over 400 league games with 4 different clubs,,,well over 6ft and scores the odd goal. Maybe he can also provide some leadership however he is 32 and maybe his best days have gone! It will be interesting to see how he plays against the Villa.

As a side note - whoever the trialist was, he didn't play very well, barely got involved for headers etc, so wasn't very impressed
This may of been his first week of training this season, so it could be explained, but most defenders usually throw themselves in for headers, then think about the consequences afterwards

Bit of a boring game - Flanagan should have shone more, as should have Rico.
Impressed with Matt Preston most - he's like Butler Mk 2.0.

Felt Kinsella, Preston and the lad Kouyhar were quite good. Rico tried a bit to hard to attack and beat people on his own and Flanagan seemed to rush his passes. Liked the front two of Baka and Murphy though, good chemistry but no service. Forgot Levi Rowley was playing.

The trialist was apparently Liam Wakefield. He is ex Doncaster and turned down the offer of a 6 month contract with them. Perhaps Andy Butler recommended him to us?
Not a bad game, had a definite edge to it in the second half. It seemed Bakayoko and the big centre half took a dislike to each other. Good to see Kris Taylor playing again.
And the chips were tasty!!

The Bak is so raw, could be class. Only a tap in but he really got amongst them, he wins absolutely everything!!
Saw lots of them in the youth cup final against Shrewsbury, Matt Preston is very good for his age.

Alot of them played last night as well so that could explain why some were off the pace (namely Baka, Rico, Kins and Flan)

For me, Bak was off the pace at Telford too, so it's worrying if the same applied again 24 hours later.

Joe Masi tweeted saying it looked like we were playing 3-4-1-2, a la Bristol City last season. Was this the case?

Yeah, two wing backs in Rico and a youngster. Matt Preston was the central Aden Flint time, with Rowley on the right and Wakefield on the left. Kinsella and Flanagan central with Levi in the hole.
Switched to 442 after the seniors left the pitch though.
