Tranmere Rovers (A) Tues Dec 9th 7.45pm FLT Area semis
A trip to the barren wastes of Birkenhead is our next obstacle on the road allegedly leading to Wembley. It has to be said that despite winning last Saturday 3-1 against Portsmouth, Tranmere Rovers are far from the side that threatened to walk away with the League One title early last season. Since then they've parted company with Ronnie Moore following his unfortunate dalliance with the bookmakers, and they currently find themselves bottom but one in League 2 and three points from safety. The Conference beckons........... Tranmere's current form:
Nov 1 Stevenage (H) Drew 2-2
Nov 8 Bristol Rovers (H) Won 1-0 (F.A. Cup 1st round)
Nov 11 Bury (A) Won 1-2 (F.L.Trophy)
Nov 15 Luton Town (A) Lost 1-0
Nov 22 Southend United (H) Lost 1-2
Nov 29 Portsmouth (H) Won 3-1
That win against Portsmouth was Tranmere's first league victory since August 30th, and their League form of 3 wins from 19 matches tells you all you need to know as to why they're 23rd in the table. More bad news this week emerged when it was revealed that their on-loan defender from Hull City (Will Aimson) sustained fractures to tibia and fibula last Saturday.
Dean Smith is very optimistic that Tom Bradshaw will be fit and raring to go for this game, and with no other injury worries we should be able to put out a full-strength side. Tranmere's goal difference of -7 (scored 19, conceded 26) leads me to think that we really should get a positive result over the 90 minutes. I'll go with 0-2, Bradshaw and Sawyers for the Saddlers.

Looks like a cunning bit of censorship has spared my blushes. :D
So, for once, I'll risk a forecast:
3 - 1 to the mighty Saddlers.
Bradshaw hat trick, naturally. :D

Oh dear, Whitters is about to predict a Tranmere win.
Football followers will have noted Tranmere's better recent form and will remember that their place is a difficult one to visit.
I hope we progress obviously but can only see tears for us over this....

Oh dear indeed, I can't believe all this negative whining and whingeing unless it's just an opinion ? You should take a leaf out of my book of predictions and be even handed lest other readers take you seriously.
On another matter, I don't understand your comment 'that their place is a difficult one to visit', are you referring to the absence of crossing wardens or the lack of clear signage and toilet facilities?

It should be noted that Tranmere have a game away at Oxford today, so you would think Walsall, not having a game, have an advantage here.

Not that I can see....... ITV has Liverpool v Basel, Sky Sports 1 has Real Madrid, and Sky Sports 5 are at Galatasaray, who play Arsenal (all in the European clubs' Championship thingy) - I'm amazed that they've overlooked an attraction like Tranmere Rovers v Walsall in favour of that rubbish.

Re: Tranmere Rovers (A) Tues Dec 9th 7.45pm FLT Area semis
Having battled through rush hour traffic to get across to Rochdale and done the 200 miles for the Sheff Utd game, I can't do the game that is virtually on my doorstep. Gutted. I was hoping that I'd have followed our every step to our first appearance at Wembley.
Like others, I think this will be tight, far tighter than our respective league positions suggest it should be.
It'll be 1-0. I think/hope it'll be in our favour.
I think we'll have 500 or so there in a crowd of 4,350.

Tranmere goals - 1
Walsall/Bradshaw goals - 2
Total Fans - 2996
WFC Fans - 309
Increase of WFC fans for next round (home leg) - x10
Increase of WFC fans at next round (home leg) for Wembley if we win - x10 (including all the Smith Out Brigade with their extended families and being a bit less obvious about wanting the manager out as they walk up Wembley way)
Of course, if we lose tomorrow, they can sharpen their fingers, get on their keyboards and tell us they were right all along.

Pathetic. So all "Smith Out Brigade" fans don't go to games (unless it's a big game)?
Yeah, right

Biggest cup game in years and all some posters want to do is use this thread to have silly digs at fans who want Smith out and not the upcoming game itself. I dont get it we're Walsall fans we're supposed to stick together surely? Cant we just concentrate on getting behind the lads please?UTS

Re: Tranmere Rovers (A) Tues Dec 9th 7.45pm FLT Area semis
I have never got this hard place to go nonsense, it is usually said about rubbish teams who are playing rubbish. This season Trampmere have a home record of w3 d5 l5, so 10 out of 13 teams haven't found it that difficult. Though as Cully says the crossing wardens, signage and toilets do leave a lot to be desired. That said think it will be close, if only because most of our matches are close due to our inability to score more than 1. Like PT I am stuck in London so can't make it, this match could help to define our season, win and we can still dream, lose and ....... Well let's not think about that

Re: Tranmere Rovers (A) Tues Dec 9th 7.45pm FLT Area semis
It will be 1-0 either way. This is a BIG GAME for us, a real opportunity to get to our Third Area Final [we lost the others to Bournemouth and Millwall in successive seasons at the end of the 90's] and a step closer to that long overdue visit to Wembley.
No pressure then, lads.

Feisty board ay it?
To Tyldo everyone is a Scunthorpe, to tinned everything is pathetic and dear old Cully's posts depend on the phases of the moon.
