Good good win, pleasing to see Sawyers have a MOTM display.

Positive day, now back that up with 4 points from Rochdale and Gillingham and the table will be looking far more healthy.

Or 'Sallian.

While every club has 'sing when you're winning' fans, we appear to have 'moan when we're losing' specialists too!

Great result. Hopefully the beginning of a better run. We'll done the lads.

How good does the beer taste tonight?

Great to see Sawyers put a performance in, Butler was a rock and spurred us on and all round we looked like we may have a team in there. After a decent start for us I actually thought they'd go into the break ahead after having a good spell - after we scored we seemed to struggle to keep the ball - but then after the break, what a performance.

Forde's ball for the goal was superb (and after me questioning what he's good at) and Bradshaw's movement for the finish was excellent too. I think he could be the next one to earn us a few bob as he has great attributes for a number 9. I also loved Butler having a word with Manset on the corner to hold their men up for Downing to pop up back post.

What struck me today was how much better we are pushing on a bit as it releases our flair players from having to defend too much and also how much better we look when we get a little bit nasty - we're far too nice at times. Don't get me wrong, we weren't dirty but we actually got stuck in a bit. There's nothing wrong with a trip now and again or the odd arm.

Glad to see their bloke sent off too as he'd gone down like he'd been shot in the first half.

Don't think that's exclusive to Wfc though and all of the criticism until today has been justified.
Ultimately anybody who can be bothered to contribute to this board wants only succces.

Ar.

While I thought the criticism got too harsh at times I also think we shouldn't let one win go to our heads. It's a win and a start, no more, and the ones who were critical will be as happy as anyone today.

The one thing that got on my goat today was some of the blokes near me who have slated Sawyers for weeks not celebrating when he scored. It's like kids who have players they like and don't like... pathetic.

Great performance, much deserved win.

That's all us Smith criticisers have been asking for, a bit of pace and width (crosses into the box!!! where will it end?).

Brilliant.

Top class result, typical Walsall struggle against the bottom feeders win against a playoff contender , onwards and upwards.

43 more points for safety

Omg if some morons didn't celebrate out of some vendetta against Sawyers, or any other player for that matter, they should be banned, shot or preferably both

Fully deserved win and a very good performance. First half was fairly even, but in the second there was only one team in it.

The Bradshaw goal was one of the best I've seen us score in a while, fast, skillfull and exciting! He looks a real find, runs himself into the ground, but takes his chances when they come too.

Best performance from Sawyers in a long time too. Still not sure about Benning as a winger though and would like to see Forde get at them the way he did for the second goal more often.

Things were getting a bit heated in the train station, some of the Preston lot were getting so angry I though they were going to cry. Get the feeling they thought it was three points in the bag today. I'm just glad no one spoke to me as I was on the platform with them all and my accent would have given me away!

The time to stop going is when you cannot celebrate your team scoring (unless your already 4 nil down) because you didn't like the person who scored. I wanted Smith Out (today not so sure if we persist with this slight change in tactics) but that would never stop me enjoying a Walsall goal.

Today was exactly what we were after, less tippy tappy and more purposeful passing with crosses into the box. Our 2nd was jizztastic, I love them sort of goals :D and I think have a man crush on Bradshaw

Really good for the first 15 then like someone has already said couldn't keep hold of the ball and they scored from there only real chance of the first half, which in fairness was a good finish from garner, second Half I thought we was the only team in it, Preston was only interested on hoofing it long and downing my motm and butler cleaned everything up very nicely.

Was so good to see us put a few crunching tackles in and rattle Preston, o'donnell and benning with two exceptional tackles and completely wiping they're players out in the process, loved that!

Preston just shocked me a little bit, don't think they turned up wanting to play a game of football, kicked long all game, relentlessly trying to deceive the officials by constantly going down feigning injuries, lots of off the ball none sense and done everything to knock us out a rhythm, pathetic and deserved to have a footballing lesson.

Sawyers put a good shift in but wasn't motm, I didn't particularly think o'connor looked that great, for me Kinsella offers more going forward and is quicker across the ground, but looking at Preston's tactics probably was a good choice with oconnor being alot sturdier, Kinsella would still get the nod for me though next game.

Benning has a great engine runs all day, Bradshaw was superb, dare you say the next jorgey?

Well done lads all round, hope it fills you with confidence and fires us up the league.

Obviously delighted we won today, and a great game, but I think we benefitted from Preston not sitting back. There were times in the first half when I counted 4 attackers (two up front, two on the wing) for them. I can only assume they hadn't watched us struggle to break teams down for the last 12 months.

Take the 2nd goal (and I was cheering as much as anyone btw). How much time and space did Forde have? It's too simplistic to say "do this every week". Other teams won't let us!

Still, lots of reasons to be optimistic after today.

You know what IHTC fair play to you, you do really appear to support this club and win, lose or draw will come on this board & give your two pennies worth. Time and again others - some mentioned above - are often conspicuous by their absence when we win....I think they only come on here to wind people up.

Modern football is a bit of a joke though and this board is like most across all other Clubs. 3 points and the manager is a tactical genuis, defeat and 'he's gorra gew'. Just been on the PNE boards and some are saying it's as bad as the Westley days! I'm not a Preston fan, but even I know how evil it was up there when he was in charge. It seems overreaction, sweeping statements and ill-thought out analysis are just part and parcel of the modern game.

Well that was what we want to see!

A win, crosses, our attacking players scoring goals, headers!

That goal will hopefully do Sawyers the world of good.

Welcome back mr Butler too, solid!

I'm away so had to miss yesterday's game and typically it was a rare treat.

Chuffed to bits. When I saw the line-up it did look like there was a definite shape to the side unlike last week where it remained a mystery until the second half of the second half.

Bradshaw looks a real find and his goal yesterday was superb - had a Wrack to Rammell look which is always nice.

One swallow and all that, but let's hope this represents lift-off.

It's on the BBC Iplayer thingy - The Football League Show, our game starts between 50 and 51 minutes in.
Hope this link works! If not you should be able to find it on the BBC website.

Brillant header from Bradshaw and a nice right footed? cross from Forde. Decent little finish by Sawyers through quite a few bodies as well. Bradshaw has been excellent so far, signing of the summer - providing this injury isn't too big and we keep him interested then I can see him potentially being the next one off the block. That will only enhance our reputation to young forwards around the country again. For all of Smith's faults, you can't argue that he tends to get ONE of his current forwards scoring. Macken, Ibehre, Grigg, Westcarr and potentially now Bradshaw?

More, more, more please! Watch us take a spanking at Dale on Tuesday.

His correct title is Sir Andrew Butler.

You and IHTC come accross like that and obviously want the best for the club.

The worrying thing is though that after a cracking win, this thread is 3 pages long which means plenty seem to enjoy it more when we're losing.

Pleease dow say that, the Dale will be my first match, (housemove as the season started, but now somewhat closer to the holy ground that is the Bescot) hopefully gewin with Belgian!

Great great result, just what we had been waiting for, particularly good to see us score more than one goal! Bet that result ruined a few fixed odds coupons out there!
