48 seconds after coming on, Billy Kee gets shown a yellow as does Billy Clifford.

I would have said Smith needs to send them to boot camp (shooting) but as they don`t appear to know where the goal is a bit pointless. Walsall 25% of shots on goal against 80% Scunthorpe shocking.

Appalling, no other words to describe todays result, glad I could not make it to the game....
Relegation zone....... how many on here were giving me unbelievable abuse for suggesting that we would be in there? I rest my case....Where do we go from here, this is just NOT good enough, we are a laughing stock. :( :(

Still not going to throw the toys out if the pram. Players need to get it together but there are alot of new faces. Baxendale/Grimes/Sawyers and Manset or Bradshaw imo are a good front 3. I hope it comes good, deep breath people.

Re: Scunthorpe United (A) League One 30th Aug, 3pm
This is poor. If we don't win against Colchester next week, we really are going to pay. On paper (like today) we should win against them but this is Walsall, a Walsall with a poor blueprint and a slow, lethargic defence.
Only positive today, it seems, is Bradshaw. If he keeps this up then I am glad we have him on a two year deal, he could score quite a few in League Two next season :D .
I just hope the injuries dry up soon and that we face a team with defenders that love to score own goals.
Still think the team could click, but it needs to be soon, very soon!
Believe. UTS!

That's the problem, the players are all much of a muchness with maybe Mantom being the exception, and also trying to fit square pegs in round holes.

In the car on the way home.
Woeful result, both XI's out there today were cast iron bottom 6. We had the better of the first half chances but we and the game were very poor. O'Donnell woeful for both goals, the second not a free kick. Ref was one of the worst in years. Manset, a lumbering slow juggernaut that didn't hold the ball or look remotely arsed to be here. Forde and Grikes atrocious, downing uncomfortable next to Holden and O'Connor Ropey at best.
Complete formation change and instead of adapting to mix it up we went the opposite way and hoofed it. We missed Sawyers, no connection between midfield and forwards so we had no ball retention up top. Bradshaw and Clifford the only bright spots. Bax and Morris to play wide.

Trying to type this on the m18, pathetic to be honest, didn't start playing till last 20 minutes, no chances for manset, can Smith motivate these player's? Few more saddlers than i thought there would be. Bradshaw chased a lot just nipped in his header before the keeper got there.
Grimes ineffective till he went off, Clifford did ok but needs to push on more forward not enough fight or battle at the moment

Don't understand why we changed from our 4-2-3-1 which most people agree is successful away from home. Trying to shoehorn Manset as a 2nd striker just didn't work.
Special mention to the cheating linesman who said the ball went out of play after Bax tackled an obstructing defender. It didn't. :x

So Yeovil had not scored until they played us, Scunthorpe had not scored at home until they played us :?

Re: Scunthorpe United (A) League One 30th Aug, 3pm
Very disappointing.
Hopefully Mansett was not fully match fit as otherwise I'm not sure what he offers. Certainly didn't look like the player on that video compilation. Not sure about their first goal ( with my aging eyesight) but O'Donnell misjudged the second. He did make one cracking save though in the first half. It was a pity we had to wait to be 2 nil down before we started to ATTACK. My first view of Bradshaw & he took his goal well battling & jumping with the goalkeeper. Thought Morris looked promising when he came on. There were some occasional good bits from the rest but sadly nowhere near enough and not consistently at all. I was disappointed that Kinsella had been dropped/rested as I was looking forward to seeing him.
Some of the referee's decisions were very strange to say the least.

You are a very optimistic person obviously...5 matches, 3 draws 2 defeats, relegation zone. On current form do we look as if we can escape from the pit? I thought Mon-Say could make a difference, but regrettably we are a squad devoid of talent, confidence or leadership.
The relegation zone was NOT the place we wanted our team to sit, we are NOT hard to beat and we are unable to score.......= relegation fodder. explain why I must 'get a grip'?

What a Barclays of a result against what can only be described as a load of Scunthorpe. :( Accurate description, for once.
By the way, why do we describe fools or idiots as "Scunthorpe"? :?:

And before anyone actually replies, I'd better admit the above is a (very poor) joke.

Although for once a very honest match assessment by Smith, it seems a slither of his usual drivel creeped in
"Kieron [Morris] should have had a penalty, but the referee didn’t give it."
