Gillingham (H) League One, Monday 21 Apr, 3pm
Easter Monday sees the Gills as our penultimate visitors this season. Gillingham are currently 14th in the table with 51 points, and the uncertainty over their Manager's position is their only dark cloud - Peter Taylor was appointed until the end of the season, and he can't even think about making offers to players for 2014/15 for that reason. Gillingham's current form:
Mar 22 Crewe Alexandra (H) Lost 1-3
Mar 25 M K Dons (A) Won 0-1
Apr 5 Rotherham United (H) Lost 3-4
Apr 8 Peterborough United (A) Lost 2-0
Apr 12 Leyton Orient (A) Lost 5-1
Apr 18 Tranmere Rovers (H) Won 2-0
You might be forgiven for thinking their defence is leaky - they've conceded 74 goals so far, but it should be remembered that they've also scored 12 more goals than we have - Cody McDonald leads the way with 15 (including his last-gasp equaliser against us back in December), and the redoubtable Akinfenwa has pitched in with 10 so far. Some notable contrasting results include an exit from the F.A. Cup 1st round at the hands of non-league Brackley Town, and yet they managed wins in January over both Wolves and Swindon Town. Hard to know (like ourselves) which team will turn up on the day.
With both sides probably thinking of their respective summer beaches, I'll go for a 2-1 home win. Ngoo to prove that his Carlisle goal wasn't a fluke, and a recalled Westcarr with the other one.

Sounds like they are as average as we are. I'll be looking forward to a pint of Banks's bitter before the game, a Kenco coffee at half time and a couple of Aldi mints during the second half, anything else is just a bonus,

This has to be the most important game against Gillingham on an Easter Monday ever.
As long as we don't lose 3-0 I'll be happy.

Another mediocre 1-1 draw, with Westcarr for us, in front of 3,980, including 360 from Medway.

Re: Gillingham (H) League One, Monday 21 Apr, 3pm
I understand the some readers took exception to my previous pessimistic assessment of the forthcoming Bristol City game. With this in mind, I'll try and do better this time....
Dean Smith to call a meeting with the players and suggest to them they ought to be a bit more like the dingles. Meanwhile, an alternative life form evolves from the remaining toxic waste from the Bescot Sewage Works and a surviving director of Davenmanor, previously assumed to be an extra-terrestial.
Bescot Stadium to asexually reproduce in an augmented dimension and populate itself with said new life forms. As a consequence, Walsall will apply to change its name to Walsall Galactic before hosting Gillingham in front 529,000 at Bescot Hyperstadium.
Walsall to win the game 132-19, with Bakayoko scoring all 151 goals. Bonser to rip off his skin and reveal himself as a lizard from Area 51. He orders Kim Jong Un to have lovely hair like he does - proper god-like hair like Dave Mustaine and not that pathetic cod-indie look. He sells Bakayoko to Coventryhampton for £400,000, before escaping in his helicopter which transforms into Optimus Prime.
Rego and Franksy to be so impressed at Walsall Galactic that they roast Tonka in a sacrifice to Richard O'Kelly before renouncing all dinglism as the work of Satan. Tonka to claim racial abuse. They claim that Walsall should crown themselves Champions of the Known Universe on the strength of just one match, claiming it was their idea and they'd never heard of such a thing before.

Probably one of the worst days of my life that was. My Daughter was born on the Good Friday that year, had to beg and plead to go to that game, and promise to be home by 9pm. Desperate performance, and lets just say I never made it home for 9 :D All in the life and times of being a Walsall fan.

I gave up after Bristol City and not one of the pricks gave a cack.
0-0.
Featherstone to come on and meditate harder than Acorah on ketamine.
Westy to amaze us all with his "pump that bitch" dance.

I'm slightly worried that SkyBet makes us odds-on favourites for this one......pre-kick off odds are:
Walsall to win............... 10/11
The draw................... 23/10
Gillingham to win.......... 14/5
I fear they're sadly mistaken :?

Away teams have been value at Bescot for most of the season - for obvious reasons. Gillingham are no exception. Nothing wrong with a bit of disappointment insurance.

Not much in the way of early goals, apart from the early kick-off which saw Leyton Orient 1 Wolves 3
Peterboro' 1 Carlisle Utd 0 after 12 minutes.
Preston North End 1 Shrewsbury Town 0 (30 min)
Goals which may affect teams coming to join us next season:
Birmingham City 0 Blackburn Rovers 3 (after 25 mins) (if this stands, Blues are 1 point off the bottom three...)
Sheffield Wednesday 2 Charlton Athletic 1
Peterboro' 1 Carlisle Utd 0 after 12 minutes.

Looks like side to side play again 60% of the play 1 shot against 4 shots. As the song goes "when will they ever learn" answers on a postcard.

Agreed, but as we've had 5 corners so far it would perhaps have made sense to play our leading scorer from corners.......
Stevenage 0 Bristol City 1..... not too happy with that scoreline.
Sheffield Wednesday 2 Charlton Athletic 2 --------- which puts Birmingham City level on relegation points, only their goal difference helps them!!

Two yellow cards for Gillingham players in the last 5 minutes......
Elsewhere, Preston going to town at home to the Sloppies - it's 4-1 now
Swindon Town 1 Bradford City 0 (which would be good for our top-half finish)
Paul Downing booked :(
Stevenage 0 Bristol City 3 now - which, if it stays that way, will see Stevenage relegated.

Ngoo on for Sawyers, 74 minutes.......
Elsewhere (again)... Rotherham 1 Port Vale 0 this should mean we're 8th in the table
But it couldn't last, could it????????? 1-1 now at Bescot :( Cody MacDonald again, on 83 min.
