Swindon Town (H) League One Tues 28 Jan 7.45pm
The conquering Saddlers return from Nottingham to welcome the Robins as we look to strengthen our play-off credentials. Swindon are currently 8th in the table, 5 points behind us but with a game in hand. Their six most recent League One games look like this:
26 Dec Brentford (A) Lost 3-2
29 Dec Bradford City (A) Drew 1-1
11 Jan Peterborough United (H) Won 2-1
14 Jan Stevenage (A) Lost 2-0
18 Jan Gillingham (A) Lost 2-0
25 Jan Shrewsbury Town (H) Won 3-1
Swindon's away form throughout the season has been pretty dire apart from the one result that really stands out when, in mid-October they went to Rotherham and came away 0-4 winners. Nile Ranger is joint leading scorer and still continues to figure despite being threatened with dismissal following a string of disciplinary issues - he was on target in the 89th minute today against the Sloppies. Statistics from that game won't please sallian......Swindon had 13 goal attempts, 6 on target, and scored 3 goals. Shrewsbury had 15 attempts, 8 on target, but scored one.
The other joint leading scorer Dany N'Guessan didn't play against Shrewsbury, apparently because he's being shipped out on loan supposedly to cut down on Swindon's alarmingly high wage bill....... :?
If we can bring our Notts County mindset with us we should be able to harvest 3 points from this one. We did, of course, win the corresponding away fixture 1-3 on October 22nd (that man Ranger spoiled our clean sheet), and a similar scoreline of 3-1 would suit me fine.

I'm away on business too. Seeing a sub contractor in Worksop on Wednesday morning, so Walsall is a good place to stay over on Tuesday night :D

Should be a good match this one - I'll go for an entertaining 2-2 draw, in front of 3,900 or so, including 400 from Swindon. The weather and the fact it is a Tuesday will keep the attendance down, although anything less than 4,000 overall would be poor given our results and performances of late. If this had been at the weekend, it would have been around 5,000 I'm sure.

I agree, weather is going to be poor tomorrow and this will impact on the attendance, will be lucky to get 4k there tomorrow which is a massive shame because this side deserves the backing of a 5k+ crowd. Tough game, but think we can come out of it with 3 points given their poor away record. I'll go for a 3-1 win (Mantom, Brandy and Stead  )

I thought that before the Sheff United and Oldham games but the pitch was in really good nick on both occasions. Hope it holds out as I'm really looking forward to the game. Just a shame that another piss poor evening weather wise will see our more fragile element staying at home and the team not getting the backing it deserves. Suppose that means it's down to us who are there to make up for the lack of quantity by providing some quality - I might bring my guitar to get things going in the upper.

I hope so otherwise it means I'll get my nice leather shoes muddy walking from the retail park to the ground. :x
It'll be worth it to see Walsall win 2-0. Sawyers and Brandy to score.

Admittedly its a pretty far fetched estimate, more likely 3687 with 423 Swindonians... but these be optimistic times!

Realistically, if we get 3,500 'home' fans tonight we will be doing well,

Re: Swindon Town (H) League One Tues 28 Jan 7.45pm
A Swindon fan in peace - well we need revenge tonight but our away form this season has been poor to say the least compared to our superb home form.
Of all the teams we have played this season and i have been to all home games at Swindon Walsall have still been the best side i have seen and we were lucky it was only 3-1 on the night.
I need to correct some of the statments that a couple fo you have put we dont have an alarming wage bill in fact its been reduced from last season by 50% and the talk of N'Guessan moving on loan is because he has been hit and miss so far. As for Ranger yes he has not turned up for training a few times and has his court case looming next month so none of us know how much longer he will be with us. If Ranger is on his game tonight he is by far the best forward in this league but if his mind his right.
You lot had a great result saturday so did we but probably put our worst performance in of the season and we should have lost the game but thats football when we played Wolves away we played them off the park and lost 3-2 so it happens to all teams at some stage of the season.
We have a very young team and a totally new team from last season and alot of them are in their first season of league football so it has been a quick learning curve for some of them.
Anyway we are both good footablling sides who like to play it on the floor the right way and it should be a good game. A draw for us would be good considering our away form a win will be great and revenge will be sweet.

Saddlers Player.
There is also an app called Radio Player, which sometimes lets WM though (even though the commentary isn't supposed to work online, and won't work on the BBC/WM official site.

Just because it's been reduced 50%, doesn't mean it isn't still big. I'd say it's considerable compared to ours.
As for Ranger being the best forward in the league on his day....he's no Westcarr.

No he not a Westcarr he's better as he's played Premier League unlike Westcarr and only because of his off the field issues is he not at Newcastle.

You're from out of town, so we don't expect you to understand Walsall fans' subtle and complex appreciation of Craig Westcarr.

We've had 2 corners in the first three minutes...
Elsewhere, Brentford 1 Bristol City 0 (o.g., 8 minutes)
Ha!! Bristol City equalise on 11minutes.... now 1-1 :D
