Is there anyone out there? ..............................................
Welsh, you must be the only saddler not 'out shopping' or hungover after 'mad Friday'!!!
Looks as if Carlisle aint no pushover...missed a penalty to boot (are you Walsall in disguise! )
Talking of missed penalties has anyone else noticed Crawley at (the soon to do a 'Tranmere') Orient? they miss a penalty but then a few minutes later score from open play anyway!
Also looks to me as if MK Dongs may be the darkhorse for a push for the play off's, currently destroying Port Fail.

Looks like Dicko, who Rotherham signed on loan from Wigan about a month ago is the signing of the season so far. Seems to score or create all of their goals in their recent cracking run.

Rotherham take the lead at home to Wolves 2-1, so we're back to being 4 points away from the top six :(
Wolves score got a massive cheer Welsh. You've misjudged the mood.

And normally I would join in....but today's match affects us very closely - I would want Rotherham to lose so that we keep in touch with the top 6. The Dingles are pretty much out of reach, but Rotherham certainly aren't. :D

Swindon Town 0 Coventry City 1 (50 min) - this strengthens our 7th place, there's a 3 point cushion below us.
OH!!! and Rotherham 3 Wolves 1
53min - Ben Purkiss booked :(

Nicky Featherstone on for Adam Chambers (who had been booked) - substitution on 83min
Carlisle now down to 10 men after a straight red card!!
Very late on, Swindon back in front 2-1 at home to Coventry - which puts us back to 8th place.
Gray on for Lalkovic, 90th min.

Full time, and a 2-0 win....a good day. Of the six teams we're chasing for a play-off position, 2 won, 2 drew and 2 lost - which makes our three points all the more valuable.
Onwards and upwards, to Bristol City on Boxing Day. :D

Its a good 3 points, but Carlisle are an atrocious football team. That Miller fella has surpassed Tom Eaves for miss of the century. It was a certain pen. Taylor moved his arm towards the ball very deliberately, right in front of mine and the linesmans eyes. He is lucky it didnt go in.
Glad we got a second goal, didnt look like one was coming to be honest. A bit lacklustre going forwards at times, but we still passed the ball extremely well.
Lalkovic was the match winner with a sublime goal, but he frustrates the life out of anyone watching, scared to use his left foot and some of his footballing decisions make moves totally break down. We should sign him up though, like i said, he will win matches with the skill he can produce.
Hewitt is just a pacey Ryan Jarvis by the looks of it, not much about the fella, didnt really impress me today. He has his chance, sometimes he looks totally lost. Id rather play Sawyers up front, he had a very good game too, he was my MOTM. Baxendale was poor again, but he put in a shift.
I dont think J Chambers will be getting back into the side very soon either.
Always extremely pleasing to get one over on that knob Kavanagh. So a decent win, and onto the next one(when i have thawed).

Re: Carlisle Utd (H) League One Sat 21st Dec 3pm
Professional.
Just about sums it up for me. Lalkovic has frustrated me in frequent weeks but he was our only out ball today especially after Westcarr left the pitch and Sawyers had a quiet second half. We never really going our game going properly but still looked comfortable enough for the entire game. We got in behind and down the sides of them well with Lalkovic and then with the ball over the top for Sawyers goal - as someone pointed out on WM Sawyers just made it look effortless. Penalty was definetely a penalty, the entire incident seemed so obvious that I half thought the lino was going to miss it, it was weird and poor from Taylor. Poor penalty and a laughable miss, we've escaped 2 in the last few weeks.
Second half we started slowly and Carlisle had time on the ball to try and build some sort momentum, but they failed to create anything really - bar one cross shot drilled across the box. Lovely goal from Lalkovic, I thought he'd messed it up when he didn't take it in his stride on his left foot - credit where credit's due it was a cracker - hopefully we are starting to see the right development signs from him.
Overall, a professional performance. The back 5 were good except for an early slip by Butler and the penalty. Butler headed everything away and Purkiss offers us more going forward than Chambers even if he is a little more clumsy in possession. Chambers and Mantom solid, Chambers grew nicely into the game but Mantom seems to have had a quiet few weeks. Lalkovic was my MOTM even if he was frustrating again, his pace was a constant out ball and he's one of the flair players in the side that can score goals like the second - less fruitless cross overs today which I'm hoping is under guidance of Smith. The downside? We started with 10 men effectively, bless him Baxendale is a lovely lad but he just isn't a winger and we have better in the number 10 role currently. Smith needs to sort it though. The fact Gray got a sub appearance and Bax/Lalkovic start suggests that Mr Hemmings has grown arrogant or attitude issues again after a good start to the season - why wouldn't he be playing? Hewitt was very poor when he came on. He tries hard, but just looks in-effective and the headless chicken type to me. I don't expect to see him more than 5 times (bar injury to players) between now and May when he's sacked off.
3 cleansheets in a row, second best defence in the division and back to back wins that see's the playoffs cut down to just 2 points.
If you can't be a happy Walsall fan this christmas, you might as well give up forever.

Think our keeper deserves a mention today penalty save and good distribution in blustery conditions. Great kick in the first half put on a sixpence for purkiss way over the half way line.
Also great running of the line by purkiss but what are we going to do about getting on the end of the crosses?

However, Ledesma off the bench with a peach of a goal and assist...

Looks like we will have to change a winning team at Bristol City. Think Chambers yellow card means he is suspended and will Westcarr be fit after going off.

But he stopped warming the bench after about an hour. I make that his 20th appearance which entitles us to £30,000.
I do hope we've been on the 'phone already!
With Brentford going like a train and the top two faltering a bit we could make another £80k by the end of the season (if he makes another 20 appearances and Brentford go up).
Good result today and nice to follow up the Shrewsbury result with another three points. If we're to be serious contenders we probably need 7 points from the three Christmas games
