Leyton Orient (A) F.A.Cup 2nd round Sat 7th Dec, 3pm
Off to Brisbane Road for the second time this season for what should be a cracking 2nd round Cup game. Both sides have something to prove in a way - we were responsible for halting Orient's rocket-powered start (8 wins in 8 games) by holding them 1-1 despite playing three-quarters of the game without Andy Butler, whose red card was successfully appealed. Our equalizer that day came from the head of lazybones Westcarr (assist by Troy Hewitt), so which team will Dean pick, I wonder?
Orient's form has been a bit patchy of late - here are their last six League One games:
Oct 26 Rotherham United (H) WON 1-0
Nov 2 Peterborough United (A) WON 1-3
Nov 16 Preston North End (H) LOST 0-1
Nov 23 Swindon Town (A) WON 1-3
Nov 26 Bristol City (A) DREW 2-2
Nov 30 Sheffield United (H) DREW 1-1
However, they are top of the League One table, and leading scorers' achievements are impressive:
Mooney 14 goals
Lisbie 12 goals
Cox 9 goals
If we can squeeze another 1-1 out of this I would be happy...it would also serve to illustrate to our Dingle acquaintances what it's like to progress in a cup competition!!

My apologies if I have misled you...my reference to Westcarr as "lazybones" was merely a reflection of what seems to be a majority opinion among UTS posters. I have never referred to him in those terms.
Having said that, my reference to Leyton Orient's leading scorers as "impressive" was largely directed at their performance as a whole - their three leading scorers have amassed 35 goals, whereas our leading three currently stand at 17 (Westcarr 9, Hemmings 4, Sawyers 4). Enough to make Sally Ann's mouth water. :D

We will lose 1-0, O'Donnell will punch a corner straight onto Vincelot's beard and it will fly in. We will also have two shots on target, one being a pass from a defender that Westcarr might have touched the ball from and the other being an open goal that Downing will miss from a corner because nearly all corners that we take seem to fall to him rather than a striker.

Leyton Orient 2-5 Walsall.
2-0 down at HT, Smith employs plan B which involves the use of LaCrosse bats. Westcarr gets the hang of it right away scoring all 5, however, he still gets slated on here after the game for not being a 90 minute player.
3766 including 231 Saddlers.

Walsall 58-0 Orient
Lalkovic has so many wayward shots over the bar that the referee starts marking them down as Rugby conversions, and we win with Lalkovic and Westcarr bagging 40 and 18 points each.

O'Donnell may not be Lev Yashin, but I think we should take the opportunity to play with eleven men.

My ticket says we're in the North Stand. we'm usually on the side.
Anyway, neither side wants a replay from this, so guaranteed draw. 2-2

I love Andy Butler.
In an interview with Saddlers player, Sidaway asked whether he is looking to make amends for his red in he league game, and he said...
"The ref made the decision not the players, I have no hard feelings against any of the Leyton Orient players... well one did make a meal of it"

No Lisbie for them, which is good news. I'm going for a Swindon-esque 2-0 champagne football-fuelled victory.

I'm going to have to miss this one so I look forward to hearing the reports of a Walsall win or draw.
Have we signed a striker yet? I'm sure our current multi-disciplined strike force will do their level best, which for some people, [23% see front page] is satisfactory.

Looking forward to this. Long-haul down to East London but always "up for the cup".
I fancy us. We just need to be half clinical in front of goal. With Lisbie out and whilst they won't say this, with a small squad they could probably do without extra games to get in the way of their amazing league campaign, I reckon they won't be quite "at it".
We'll win 1-0. 3,650 including 299 of us.

I'd like to see Deano tinker with the team a bit tomorrow. Give a few of the lads a well earned rest and give the likes of Purkiss and Hewitt a decent run out.

Looking forward to a good, open game.
2-1 to the Super Saddlers.
Westcarr with the winner in the 94th minute after the ball deflects off his bum while he is staggering around the 6 yard box attempting to get the thought of MMF's pee soaked underwear out of his head.
291 satisfied Saddlers including 23 former Stayaways with nothing better to do.

Can you imagine the cack he would get if he did that and we lost, then Orient get drawn at home to Arsenal.

fudge that... they aint got a game for week after. Play our best 11 - maybe give Hewitt a go - and try and have the kind of cup run we aint had for years.
In my opinion anyway.

The Scunthorpe would be out.
If only we could clone Westcarr.

They all count. Double figures, and the path to 20+ goals continues.

What is this 'cup run' of which you speak? I have searched the Walsall F.C. edition of the football dictionary, and there is no reference to this mythical beast! :D

Richard O'Donnell
Ben Purkiss Paul Downing Andy Butler Andy Taylor
Adam Chambers
Nicky Featherstone Sam Mantom Ashley Hemmings
Milan Lalkovic
Craig Westcarr
Substitutes: Lewis;J Chambers, Benning; Gray, Baxendale, Sawyers, Hewitt
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Leyton Orient XI; Jones, Omozusi, Sawyer, Vincelot, Baudry, Cox, James, Mooney (C), Odubajo, Batt, Lasimant
Substitutes; Larkins, Lee, Gorman, Simpson, Finney, Ling
Apparently there is a bug going around the O's dressing room, weakening the starting 11 and also leaving them managerless as Slade is ill. I think its a smokescreen as infact they are scared of playing against Westcarr.
