11 corners again today and nothing from them, 20 odd corners at Colchester and nothing from them, we must be one of the least threatening teams in the football league from corners and set pieces. You'd expect a little more from Butler and Downing.
Edit 2-0, goalcarr again.
Never seen such a strange player, last week and the week before against Coventry he was absolutely hopeless.

Shrewsbury bring on a substitute striker (Parry) 60 min. (Edit...two more subs, 67 and 68 min)
Talking of substitutes, Brentford are now 4-0 up against Staines, and Mr. Grigg has a fine view from the bench.......
Oh, and the Bagladies are now 1-2 ahead at Stamford Bridge. Sheff, where are you????? :D

With 10 minutes to go, Malvind Benning gets some action, coming on for Andy Taylor.
Elsewhere, Hednesford have equalised at home to Crawley 1-1

Re: Shrewsbury Town (H) F.A.Cup 1st round Sat 9 Nov 3pm
Well, well. A superb second half display. It could have been ten. First half was a bit "meh" with a bit too much over playing against what is a god awful Shrewsbury team, although we deserved to go in one up.
Second half, step it up and we just rolled them over, actually played some passes in behind. Lalkovic for me showed what he can do second half, he was abysmal in the first. Its a shame he didnt get a goal. Totally dominant, which is a joy to watch. Sawyers was a beast, Westcarr ran the show up front with ease, and our front three can rotate like Barcelona. Its ridiculous.
No point in player ratings, everyone gets an 8 today, the front three get 9's and so do the two full backs.
Shrewsbury fans were like their team, not up for it all.

Re: Shrewsbury Town (H) F.A.Cup 1st round Sat 9 Nov 3pm
There's something about me watching us again this year. I couldn't make Swindon a Tuesday and I couldn't make Stevenage or today and we win 3-0. Yet I made Preston, Dons last week etc. Anyway a note for the ginger one.
4-3-3 at home with Featherstone
Preston - lost 3-0
Rotherham - Drew 1-1
Bradford - lost 2-0
Coventry - lost 1-0
4 games, 1 goal, 1 point.
4-4-2 - 4-4-1-1 - 4-2-3-1 (depending on how you see it) with Sawyers
Tranmere - Won 3-1
Notts County - drew 1-1 (Sawyers scored)
Stevenage - Won 2-1 (Sawyers scored)
Shrewsbury - Won 3-0 (Sawyers scored)
4 games, 3 wins, 1 draw, 9 scored including 3 goals in 3 starts for Sawyers.
Whether Featherstone is good or bad, he can't play at home and whether people agree or disagree - the stats are the facts.

I agree - although I don't think it's a home/away thing per se. We need to play with a more attacking mindset against teams that we can beat. There is obviously value in going away to Leyton Orient or Wolves with five in midfield - and the results demonstrated that. However I wonder if we showed Preston et al too much respect, rather than attacking them from the outset? We're good enough to beat anyone at home and we're good enough to beat several teams away from home. So I'd reserve the 4-5-1 for the rare occasions when we're going to be on the back foot, and not default to it as a simple home/away preference. Nevertheless, Sawyers in from the start against Posh please Mr Smith.

I don't want to appear to be disagreeing with you, I think you have a point.
But, you can't deduce anything concrete from those stats. Look at the quality of teams where Featherstone played. All 4 are superior to where Sawyers played.

I went to see the Villa today cos I was given a free ticket.
My god, I think Walsall would give them a run for their money in a league game - Villa are woeful. They won the match today on a single moment of quality from Bacuna, and I imagine that is how the crap sides in the prem get by - on brief moments of quality in the midst of overall crap. How horrid it must be to be a Villa fan, it made me really grateful for the quality of the football we get at WFC.

They'd have beat us had they kept Mark Wright and Matt Richards.
