Wolverhampton Wanderers (A) Tue 17 Sep, 7.45pm
The Custard Bowl beckons on Tuesday as we renew our acquaintance with Wolves, currently riding high at 3rd in the table with 16 points from 6 games. After their opening goal-less draw at Preston they've won every League game, but I think it's worth noting that every team they've played against (except Gillingham) has managed to at least score - Wolves' defence is therefore not really watertight! Their last six competitive games have seen the following results:
Sat 14 Sep 3-2 win against Swindon Town (H)
Tue 3 Sep 2-2 draw against Walsall (H) FL Trophy - pens irrelevant...
Sat 31 Aug 1-3 win against Port Vale (A)
Fri 23 Aug 2-1 win against Crawley Town (H)
Sat 17 Aug 1-2 win against Bristol City (A)
Sat 10 Aug 4-0 win against Gillingham (H)
Wolves' goal difference in their League matches is an impressive 14-5 (compared to our 8-6), and with a background of parachute payments they can afford to pay their squad of around 40 players. Kenny Jackett seems to have got them into the habit of winning, but they're not bullet-proof - Swindon came very close to snatching a point today.
As always, if we play to our strengths (shexy shexy football) I think we can probably come away with a point from this. Let's say 1-1, Lalkovic back on form to score.

Holy heck! It must have been closing time in a very dark club, and he must have been steaming, and desperate, and going through a severe drought, and have taken bets.

3-1 Wolves, I doubt anyone is going to beat them there this season. Aslong as we put in a good performance and keep all XI on the pitch and fit in time for Saturday, then I can accept that. Butler with our goal, he's due one - he's been our best player this season and missed a great chance yesterday. 2,224 Saddlers in a 19k gate.

I would take a point now and beat them at home.

I'd take a point, but judging after the JPT game and the Swindon game, these can be got at.
If we can stifle their centre like we did in the second half of the JPT and cut supply to the wings, we could play through them.
On the other hand, Sako could find some form and Ismael could get plenty of ball and we could be battered.

Well, i thought we would be battered after they walked the ball in, in the last game.
Apparently they didn't play all that well on Saturday but they still beat a strongish Swindon.
Ill still take a draw.
Although, as Mr Bentos says, these can be got at. Id be happy with anything but a defeat, as they wont stop talkin about it if they win, for some years to come.

Yeah, I think it's one of those games. We can win, there is no doubt about it. It is vital we don't give them a goal start this time though. If we do this, I can see us getting a good tanking.
If we are up for it, and we should be, and a few of their players don't have a good day, then anything is possible. If they play to their best, I think we could be severely damaged.

I will be in attendance and will mix freely with our fans in the concourse and watch the match from the seated area. I might even sing.

Well Wolves may have won on Saturday but according to my Wolves mates they were battered and lucky to get a win. They believe we stand a chance so IF we play like we did in the second half against Crewe we could get something from this. They will have a full strength team and of course on paper they should beat us BUT its a funny old game and I shall be there cheering the lads on - UTS.

Wolves 0 Walsall 8
6-0 up at half time
"Can we play you every week" ringing around an empty stadium.
No trouble after as all the dog brains are too embarrased and are tucked in bed watching you tube videos of Steve bull scoring against piss poor 4th division teams a thousand years ago.

Bring protective headgear as thousands of season ticket books will be raining down on us from the Steve Bull upper tier...

We can get something from this match, but could just as easily lose it. I'll go for a very satisfying 1-1 draw, in front of 19,594. Butler with a bullet header for us.
Whatever the result, it will certainly be bleeding wet.

This does feel like the kind of game that has an Andy Butler goal in it.
Boom! Butler, two defenders, the goalie and the ball end up in the net. Butler celebrates unscathed while the remnants of the Wolves defence is swept up with a dustpan and brush.

A late, important or winning goal in this match from Butler will be that one crowning moment to make him the confirmed legend he already is. I will dance, scream and shout for about an hour should he do so.
