I think it's disgraceful that Walsall have never signed a player with their own clothing range. Therefore I would wholeheartedly back the signing of Ade Akinfenwanananananana.

Not for me. We need to bring in players that fit with our style of play, not big bonkosses. (In my humble view :D )

I'd like us to sign an amateur carthorse or maybe even a converted centre back just for occasional use (Stevenage).

According to the OS we are looking at some Trinidad and Tobagan trialists whilst we are over there - lets hope we can unearth another Clayton Ince!

I'd rather find another Dwight Yorke. Vile found him while on tour there.

There has been a fairly steady flow of players from Trinidad & Tobago through the football league since Dwight Yorke, to be fair. Rodney Jack, Carlos Edwards & Dennis Lawrence were three real finds for Crewe, as was Stern John for Forest - albeit having signed him from the MLS - and Kenwyne Jones more recently.

Fingers crossed we unearth another gem.

Pato, Grigg and Brandy out.

The new Yorke, Jones and Edwards in. I'd take that. :D

I know. I used Yorke as the example, though, because he was "spotted" by Graham Taylor while Villa were on tour out there. Yorke played against them.

I wonder if we would invest a chunk of the money we've received on a championship striker that's out of favour on loan. Someone like Jamie Vardy? Perhaps a player like Emile Sinclair who's transfer listed at Peterborough? Either way, I have a feeling we will spend a fee on a youngish striker this summer. Even if it's just £100k etc.

And it doesn't have to be just when we are out there. If Smith has or creates good links with coaches over there, he can perhaps get trialists sent over regularly with a decent prospect of first team football in the UK to tempt them.

Anyway, on Football Dribblings:

"02 Jul 2013 11:34:55
Walsall will sign Ashley Vincent this week on a 2-year deal after he rejected a deal from Port Vale in May. And are also close to signing goalkeeper Scott Flinders"

smacks head against door.

Mind you:

Walsall have accepted a bid of £1m from boro for Jamie paterson. Not sure where Mowbray kept that money hidden

was posted shortly afterwards.

Flinders would be a great signing. I wouldn't write Vincent off as being a bad signing either to be honest - he's consistently been one of the best players in League Two and in the right environment, would probably have no problems making the step up. Vale wanted to keep him to play in the same league as us, after all.

He turned Vale down as he felt the contract he was offered was poor, apparently that was a fairly handsome deal. Vale fans said he started last season well, but fell away and his final few months of the season were very poor. He never did anything with Colchester for years at this level either, so it's a no thanks from me. I'd rather sign Sterling-James and give him a go on £400 a week than I would Vincent £1,500 a week to be average.

Flinders would be a good signing.

From Football Rumours re: trialists , but this one sounds like it could have a ring of truth to it:

Richard Peniket - 20-years old, released at the end of last season by Fulham, has represented Wales at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

Jordan Ball - the 19-year old was released by Doncaster Rovers last season

Paddy Mullen - The 19-year-old winger released by Doncaster Rovers last season

Richard O'Donnell - 24 year-old goalkeeper O'Donnell played for Chesterfield last season

Filip Orsula- 20 year old striker released by Wigan

James McQuilkin - 24-year-old midfielder released by Hereford United

Troy Hewitt - former Queens Park Rangers striker,
(23-year-old) was on loan at Bury last season

Omari Sterling-James - Originally an apprentice at the Birmingham City Academy, now plays for Alvechurch, played for Walsall Reserves last season

On the goalkeeping question, BBC are saying that Nottingham Forest are looking to sign De Vries from the Dingles, probably by Wednesday this week. If that happens Karl Darlow might be available for loan/transfer if Johnstone doesn't materialise - I can't see De Vries being signed to warm the bench, nor would Darlow be overjoyed at that position..... :?

Wouldn't mind Darlow, nor would I mind Johnstone, O'Donnell or Flinders.

There's fun in being spoilt for choice :D

If we don't get Johnstone on a season long loan then I'd like us to go for Flinders, would be an ace signing.
