Damien Batt signed on a 2 year deal for Leyton Orient on Monday, Barry Hearn tweeted him asking for his number.

Best estimate I've seen is they are worth about 50 million - not a lot in football terms

Thought they had some Middle Eastern backers, hence the sacking of O'Driscoll in favour of McLeish?!

I'm not sure we'd pay his wages and I don't think a player as recognised as he is in the lower leagues would get away with training and trialing on a teams foreign tour without being known. A player of recognised lower league name, would not be going on trial with Walsall FC, we'd either sign him or not. The striker is probably a lad like OSJ from the local non league area, somone in the mold of Rudy Torres.

Mate of mine down the south west is convinced we are are in for Howe. He works as part of the community support ..... whatever... for plymouth Argyle.

That's them - manufacturers, not oil. Not big players. The Al Hasawi Family, owners the Al-Hasawi Group.

Still got enough to buy a League One player for 750k or so.

The number 17 in the photo on this thread definitely hasn't got ginger hair and does look a lot like Troy Hewitt - maybe there has been different number 17's.

Hewitt, according to Wikipedia, is 6 foot and he don't look that! Does look like him, though

That's Reece Flanagan. Here's the story of how we offered one of our young stars a new long-term deal back in January (even though that definitely didn't happen according to some people)

Just beat me to it there, RS. It is indeed Reece Flanagan. He could/should be the next youngster to make the breakthrough into the first team this season - a very skillful midfield player.

I've not had chance to see him play yet. Would he fit in alongside Chambers or would he be pushed further forward/out wide?

Whenever I've seen Reece, he seemed like a ball-playing midfielder who needs a Mantom or a Chambers to do the nitty-gritty around him. Featherstone can also pick a pass so I think that there are options in the middle of the park with those four and I can see Flanagan making the bench and perhaps going out on loan 'to toughen him up' if anyone else comes in.

I don't want to heap pressure on the young lad, but one of my favourite players from yesteryear was the immensely talented Alex Taylor. My dad never forgave Stoke City for the game in which he was clattered.

I would suggest that Reece can slowly be brought in to the first-team set up; having said that, Will Hughes at Derby was blooded in by Nigel Clough and he is now one of the hottest prospects outside the Premier League.

As for Troy Hewitt - what a brilliant spot Sadsfan. I've been racking my brains and never would have guessed that. However, it's definitely a good shout based on the pictures from the Express and Star training and this:

Forest fan here, how good is Paterson? Our local paper have reported that we're close to agreeing a fee for him.

As for our Owners wealth The Al-Hasawi family is estimated to have around 600Mil-1BN apparently.

Paterson is brilliant, started every game last season and scored 13 goals from the wing as well as many assists. He is easily the most naturally talented player in the team, he can use both feet and has a decent free-kick on him. Scored some absolute beauties last season, the lad oozes skill - this is why he is worth so much to us, anything less than a million and I would be disappointed as he is the best to come out of our youth system for a long time, and I and many others even feel that he is a lot more important to us than our 20 goal striker that also came from our youth set-up.

Paterson is shaping into an ace player.

Now he has learnt to pass and all that.

Just hope we get a proper transfer fee for him.

Forest would have to pile all of that money on our astute owners desk to get him to part with Pato.Oh alright then £200,000

Walsall Football Club have this afternoon accepted an offer for winger Jamie Paterson from Championship side Nottingham Forest.

News of Forest's interest in the Coventry-born starlet has grown over the previous 24-hours, and information now indicates both clubs have agreed a fee, allowing Paterson to begin contract negotiations with the East-Midlands outfit.

Huddersfield Town were previously favourites to land the midfielder after their initial offer was turned down, but it now appears they're out of the running.
