Just out of interest, how did you manage to see the goals roll in? Have Al Jazeera started streaming matches live from the Banks's? I have to miss the odd game so it'd be handy to know where I can benefit from such extensive coverage.

Re: Coventry City (H) League 1 Monday 1/4/13
The best thing about today's game was how up for it our players were to a man. Nobody played below a 7/10 and the way we kept the ball at times was as good as I've seen from a Walsall side, past or present. Yes, the sending off helped our cause, as did the fact hat Coventry had 'nothing' to play for, but it was still hugely satisfying to watch a Walsall side beat an opponent so convincingly. And you won't see a better team goal than our opener today, which I reckon resulted from as many as eight or nine of our players touching the ball before it hit the back of the net.
I was pleased to see Mantom get man of the match, mainly because I think he only gave the ball away once in 90 minutes and he played a couple of 50-60 yard passes that we're inch perfect. In a 4-0 rout, you'd usually do well to justify a non-goal scorer getting man of the match but frankly, Mantom and Chambers were just as deserving as each other.
Westcarr also deserves a pat on the back for his performance because, despite looking uncomfortable playing with his back to goal, he let Brandy, Paterson and Baxendale thrive off the service he provided. He deserved two goals for the monumental effort he put in. That said, we created so much in and around their penalty area, I'd like to think I'd have got myself on the scoresheet had I been playing in Westcarr's position today.
Before today's game, I wouldn't have said I'd be gutted if we missed out on the playoffs, but now I'm starting to think I would be. This Walsall team is as good to watch as any that I've seen in nearly 20 years, despite being a little naive now and again. It'd be a shame for us not to witness how it would fare in a huge game at Wembley on 19 May.

What a truly excellent game to choose as my first home game of the season. Enjoyed pretending to be glum, when traveling back to New Street with some very unhappy fellow passengers. They also were not very complimentary about Walsall, the town, club or supporters, whilst we were waiting under the motorway to be let onto the platform.
Just hope we continue to play with the same approach in the remaining games & who knows......

They were morons, the lot of them. Worst accent in the whole of the UK too, which made the wait for the train all the more painful.
That was the most satisfying win since Manny Smith's last minute winner beat Sheffield Wednesday a couple of years ago.

There was a spell in the first half where we gave the ball away several times quite cheaply. Excusable on the pitch, just remember he gave it away more than once
His pass to Brandy where he nearly snuck it past the keeper was genius, as most people went "wtf is that" then realised it was great diagonal ball.

When you hear them saying things like that, then that's when you know you've really embarrassed them. No-one likes beings embarrassed and will moan like hell when it happens.
Good ay it. :D

Even more out of interest, as the Saddlers Club pays 20,000 a year rent to the club, which then goes directly, as per the terms of the lease, to Jeff's pension fund, how is staying away from the ground morally right, but drinking in the Saddlers Club is, seemingly, alright? Don't quite understand.

That was delightful and it's put paid to the theory that we can't play on our pitch because of the state of it.Ok it's slightly better than it was last time against Crawley but it hasn't and won't stop us winning and playing well on it.Yesterday proved that, mind you a lot of it was down to the rent dodgers FC being absolutely shocking! They were an embarrassment but that was down to the way we played i'm sure.

I wondered when mr knowitall would show up spouting off. What's morals got to do with it? I went to the game fully intending on handing £20 over to Mr Bonsers pension fund to watch the game. The beer and the conversation meant that I ended up deciding on staying put. Happy to hear we won again. So what's your point?

I think his point is that you were boasting about not giving money to Bonser...
...and yet you admit yourself you gave money to Bonser by drinking in the Saddlers Club

Actually, I didn't use the word, but, he isn't the only one I know has used the Saddlers Club while "staying away". I just wonder how they justify the difference.

Another excellent performance and most importantly result! Once again praise rightly should be heaped on the players and the management team – superb, really superb!!!
Johnstone – Yesterday was the first time I’d seen the lad live but I know already he’s got everything required to be a top keeper - another excellent signing by Deano! Smithy should get on to Warren Joyce and regardless of what division we are in next season try and get him in on a season-long loan. 8.
J.Chambers – One of the best full backs in the division now in my opinion. Gives the team so much both defensively and going forward. 8.
Taylor – Same as J. Chambers above. 8.
Butler – Just Buts! 8.
Downing – I said it as soon as he first emerged as a regular – this lad is class! Different claarrssseeeee… 8.
Mantom – Excellent all round performance. Busy and very effective. 8.
A.Chambers – Same as Mantom above. 8.
Paterson – Has frustrated me in the past but he is doing it on a consistent basis now. I can see him playing at the highest level one day. 9.
Brandy – Did his ‘ting’ again. One more year please – thank you. Ohhhh Fabbiiaannn Brandyy. 9.
Baxendale – Energetic, creative and skilful. I love how the lad grafts with a huge smile on his face – great to see :D . 8.
Westcarr – What a player he is when he’s really up for it! Superb performance as the lone man up top! 9.
Subs:
Little time to make an impact.

Was impressed with Cov for the first 20-25 mins, they knocked the ball around well and had control of the game but that said can't recall a decent shot on target.
We then got to grips with it and before half time I would not have predicted a 4-0 result but my god are we playing well as a team. Brandy was immense in attack and especially noteworthy for some of his defending too. New goalie looks assured and confident. Taylor is Mr Dependable at left back and has really good control of the ball when in a tight spot too.
Everyone played their part but Mantom announced as MOTM? Really? Sponsors must have been watching a different game! No-one would be rated below a 7 out of 10 but I would say there were several perfomances better than Mantom's yesterday. He seems a bit lightweight at times and lost possession more than most but what's not like about the game yesterday.
Bring on the Blades.

Re: Coventry City (H) League 1 Monday 1/4/13
For my sins, watched Donny v SwineTown on Sat. If Donny are running away to auto promo (very likely), this division really is very level: they weren't that much cop (but very determined). We have beaten them, of course, but in any case, I'd say we were just as good - better from a footballing point of view. Yes, we have nothing to fear from any team in this division. And we're a young team. Can only get better? (IF we can keep the core of the team!!).
Happy :D
Happy :D
