More or less spot-on, CS. :)

Seriously though, for premiership football, a lot of what we saw today was just rubbish, which is, I think, what FBIG is alluding to above, and quite rightly.

I personally think the quality of football per se in the premier league this season has been mediocre at best.

Give me Keegan's Newcastle, Houllier's spice boys, Wenger's invincibles or Fergie's fledglings over any of the current teams.

Welshy... My plan would include the away end developed after we get promoted this year. After year one I'd make plans to put another tier on the family stand. This would coincide with a competition for all of Walsall's schools to name a surname for us.....All kids take a shine to different team names. (I liked Motherwell )...After building a school under the family stand......Oh man, that's the start anyhow. :)

You can't increase the height of the family stand because of the shading problem on the housing behind it. Developing the away end seems fruitless as it's rarely filled. Promotion would increase the opportunities, but we'd still need a couple of million cold hard cash to do that, and we barely have that to run the team. Maybe get promoted, do nothing, take the parachute payment and build it?

The away end would be viable if we went up. It would be filled by Wolves, Blues, Forest, Leeds and Cardiff for starters from the current crop, plus the fact it would duplicate the Stadium Suite with all of the possibilities that would give us.

That would depend on us staying up as well though wouldn't it? Don't think they can knock a stand up as quick as a McDonalds. Forest couldn't fill a dustbin either.

Took something like 5 months for the home end, didn't it? Started May and we moved in Octoberish? As for Forest, it's also another reasonably local game, of course.

It might be local, but they are notoriously poor travelers, unless they were doing really well, I wouldn't expect more than about 1500 from Florest.

You are right though, and that was the plan wasn't it, I think we honestly had ambitions of staying around in the old Division 1, building the away stand, and raking it in from big away followings. I have heard a few people say that selling beer in the away end has been very lucrative so far, so you can only assume that the better facilities would bring in more income too, should we ever get to the Championship.

i remmeber having a tour at walsall fc during those glory days and the chap who done the tour said clearly that if we stayed up that we would look to make the away end the same as the home end.

There is absolutely no need for us to expand, even if we went 3/4 years sustained in the Championship.

They can have the family stand, and just have a family area in the Fogey stand, as the Family stand usually has about 3 people anyway. Besides, it makes the atmosphere much more bostin.

Even in that league, only half the clubs would bring a high capacity away following.

But it's the facilities in the stand that would make the money.

A school of some sort underneath the new stand would get the council involved (rent). An architect could solve any problems with our neighbours. The boroughs schools would be given free entry in year two, this would consist of each section being allocated to the various schools as part of a three month competition. The competition would be a singing competition in conjunction with the hired England brass band. The winning school would win??? Phase three would involve the kit and .......

This thread needs a gentle nudge back on topic.

Therefore: Villa MUST be relegated and then liquidated. Discussed the outing to Wigan with a few people on Saturday and it promises to be a super knees up.
