Not sure who gets the credit for it though as there is no assistant... surely it wasn't down to Smith.

It was down to the work Kelly did this week. It will have worn off by next week

Ahhhh... that explains it.

The usual Smith hating bores/morons can still have a go then.

Bit quiet when we win round here.

Us winning spoils their fun... they say it doesn't but it clearly does.

Can any of those who went yesterday overcome their alcohol induced fug and post a match report so we poor unfortunates can get an idea of what happened yesterday. I'm particulary keen to find out why Purkiss was subbed just before half time. Was he injured or getting skinned by a speedy winger?

That's because no-one saw the match coz everyone was standing up in front of them. :D

Mcloughlin 6 - Jury still out for me. Didn't do anything calamitous, but stood and watched while Donny hit the bar. Also conceded an unnecessary corner if memory serves me right.

Purkiss 6 - Didn't do anything wrong. Not sure why he went off.
Butler 8 - Made lots of clearances and got the goal. Was strong when Donny were getting on top in the 2nd half.
Downing 7 - Dealt with Donny's forwards well
Taylor 8 - Solid at the back. Got forward well. Can't ask for more

Paterson 6 - Infuriating. Lost count of the number of times he got into a good position (for which he should be praised) only to then make the wrong pass/shoot wildy from 800 yards. if he had played the 'right' ball more often we could have won 3 or 4-1
A Chambers 8 - Really is in a rich vein of form at the moment. Fantastic effort and good at keeping possession. Lovely piece of skill in the first half when he flicked it over an advancing Donny player's head.
Mantom 6 - Couple of poor passes from our Sam, but not dreadful
Baxendale 6 - Little bit anonymous. Perhaps the pitch didnt suit him

Brandy 9 - I know its corny to give the goalscorer the highest mark, but he really did well today. Exciting to watch, skillful and quick, our Gareth bale :D . At one point he was surrounded by 3 Doncaster players and you assumed they'd win possession, but Brandy came out with the ball :D
Grigg 7 - Did ok against the Donny centrebacks who could have doubled for extras from the Adams family.

SUbs

J Chambers 7 - Cant recall any danger on Donny's left when James was right back
Westcarr 8 - Really made a difference. It's odd because he looks a bit clumsy as a player and you cant quite figure out why he makes a difference. Linked up well with Brandy.
Featherstone 6 - Not on for very long.

Special mention for the ref too. He wasn't perfect, but didn't allow Doncaster to kick us off the park on what was a terrible pitch. He helped make it a much better game.

All in all a top day out. Good atmosphere in our stand.

Belief seems to be speading throughout the team. Donny were big and physical and tried to intimidate us. It didn't work. Even though we had very little protection from the ref who let them foul time and time again without producing a card we kept doing what we do best and continued to run at them.
By the final whistle it would have been a travesty if we had not taken all 3 points.

How can we go from a team that deservedly lost at home to a poor conerence team in the cup to a team that comfortably turns over the joint league leaders of their home patch in 3 months?

long may it continue. A great away day out with lot's of noise from the away following. Only 450 though? I know times are hard but surely we should be taking double that given the current performances.I think i'm right in saying that when we won the league 2 title in 05/06 season we averaged about 800 away?

Missed Butlers goal as we were just leaving the boozer at 3 o clock so my prediciton of darth never seeing a kick off remains true

So this is based from about ten mins in
Mcloughlin 5 - Dropped a cross, Flapped at a routine catch to push barely wide, stood and watched donny hit the bar. Looked shaky today needs to pick himself up for the county game.
Purkiss 8 -
Butler 8 - Good performance as per although he had 1 or 2 shaky moments he quickly recovered.
Downing 7 - He didn't look quite as composed as usual but still did his job well good partnership with Butler
Taylor 8 - Solid as usual

Paterson 7 - Decent game he seemed more confident to run at the space and defenders instead of sideways (which always infuriates me as he used to beat his man a lot more last season) he had a few wild shots when maybe a pass would of been better but with the big defenders it was hard to cross and we put in to many high balls when we should of been playing to feet.
A Chambers 8 - Great again leads the midfield really well with tackles and energy.
Mantom 7 - Average game for mantom he picked out some very good forward passes later in the second half
Baxendale 6 - didn't notice him much and when I did seemed to struggle against the tough donny players.

Brandy 8 - At times he went a bit anonymous then out of nowhere he would come back with some fantastic skill and pace, the skill to beat three players and score was fantastic. Hope we have even a chance of signing him long term.
Grigg 7 - Worked hard considering he had a 6 foot 7 player on him the entire game which for longs parts was long balls to grigg!

SUbs

J Chambers 7 - Decent solid display only made 1 mistake slicing it into one of their strikers quickly after coming on otherwise as solid as purkiss at the back but without the attacking threat.
Westcarr 8 - We were playing to wide Baxo comes off Westcarr on and he immediately holds the ball up and moves it inside for us linked up well with brandy.
Featherstone N/A - wasn't on long enough to judge or notice really.

M&M:When we won the League Two title our average away attendance was over 1,000, the highest in the division that season.

Really good performance from us yday against a team which played some of the worst football I have seen in a long time. Their CB, 6 ft 8 Rob Jones was playing up front for half the game and any free kick no matter how far out was pumped into our box.

McLoughlin - 6. Looked shaky and doesn't fill me with much confidence but thankfully none of his errors were too calamitous today.

Purkiss - 6. Solid, presumably came off for injury.
Butler - 8. Withstood the barrage well and organised the defence as a captain should
Downing - 7. Struggled a little early on against the physicality of Donny but got better as the game went on
Taylor - 9. MOTM for me. Might seem a strange one but thought he was outstanding. Never put a foot wrong. Defended well, attacked well and set piece delivery was excellent. Very underrated player

A Chambers - 8. Another gritty performance from him, continuing his great form of late.
Mantom - 7. Always looked to pass the ball on the floor and was never afraid to receive it off the defence.

Paterson - 8. Not his biggest fan but impressed me again today. Didn't always make the right decision but was confident carrying the ball and became a real threat on the counter attack as Donny pressed towards the end.
Baxendale - 6. Didn't influence the game greatly but worked hard and always tried to find space.
Brandy - 9. Just beaten by Taylor to MOTM. Can't believe this guy had such a hard time of it before he came to Walsall. Looks confident and can beat a man easily. His goal was excellent and was our biggest threat as Donny's big lumbering defenders couldn't handle his pace.

Grigg - 7. Worked hard and held the ball up well on occasions. In the first half we played too much long ball and he had no chance of winning anything against Jones.

Subs:
J Chambers - 7. Was worried that we would miss Purkiss' height from set pieces and long balls but he defended excellently when he came on and was composed on the ball.
Westcarr - 8. Made a real difference. His physicality was definitely what we needed and he linked up well with Brandy, Paterson and Grigg
Featherstone - 6. Didn't have time to make much of an impact although could have scored late on to make things safe.

A brilliant day out and I so enjoyed the second half. I am glad we abandoned the tactics of the first half of pumping balls forward for Grigg to try and knock down when their central defenders, who wouldn't have looked out of place in the Amazonian rain forest, were winning 90% of the balls. Once we started trying to pass to feet and attacking & running at their defence then we were transformed. I was starting to worry that a goal was never going to come & that our pressure would be unrewarded, and then some Brandy magic came along just in time. My only negative would be that I am not convinced by Mcloughlin who looked uncertain & very shaky at times & we were a bit fortunate not to concede. But in the end a thoroughly deserved win.

Someone really needs to tell Sky this isn't Andy Butler http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/263068

Anyway an excellent win, we owed them one after that harsh 3-0 on the opening day. Great noise from the fans as well.

Butler and Brandy were excellent. The partnership of Mantom and Chambers is a big factor in why we have improved so much I think, they do the dirty work and keep us ticking over.

Agree that the jury is still out on the keeper, he looked a little bit shakey at times.

Can we make the play-offs? A big ask considering the extra games other teams have, but if we keep playing like this we might just do it!

Excuse me if i'm wrong but I dont think anyone has mentioned the most important thing about the game - bringing Westcarr on for Baxendale - Deano could have kept a defensive frame of mind but full credit to him for maintaining an attacking intent. I've not been a massive fan of Westcarr's but yesterday for the short time he was on he was superb - strong, held the ball up well and picked out some very intelligent passes, he could sway my opinion if he continues to put in performances like that.

Can't really add to what has already been said - we had to withstand a lot of pressure from a massive and strong donny side who I still think will go up this season, but fair play to the lads for coming through it and in the end getting a well deserved winner. Brandy was outstanding - the management team really need to bust a gut to get this lad on an 18 month deal (if not longer). Defence were generally solid and composed apart from their goal which I heard may have been offside, but still must play to the whistle - basics. Midfield battled well on a very poor pitch and took control really from 60 minutes + , Chambers was sensational again. Thought Paterson had a very decent second half and as someone else said he looks very threatening on the counter and pulled one the donny's players pants down on one occasion.

Dare I say it, a performance of a play-off worthy side - I'd have been more than happy with a point but to come away with all 3 really sums up how far this squad have come since the games against Lincoln for example, confidence is obviously sky high and that can only benefit us as we approach a very crucial part of the season. Really need to carry on getting behind the boys and be the 12th man like we were yesterday, superb support and hopefully this is shown next week against Notts County who are there for the taking really and should be seen infront of another decent crowd of over 5k+. #playoffform

He did indeed actually skin that Donny player, one of the most comprehensive skinnings I have seen for a very long time

Patterson is one of the most exciting home grown talents we have had for ages and will earn us a fair wedge if we hold on to him until the time is right and he keeps developing like he has been. Still his decision making or finishing isn't as good as Christiano Ronaldo so no doubt the usual suspects will keep on slating him until he is replaced by Kevin Hurst

Anyway Patto pulling that defenders pants down was nothing compared to the man love going on in the away end when the winner went in. Some weirdo with a beard next to me kept saying "its coming its coming" (not sure if he meant him or the winner) but it did have that feeling and it was one of those epic goal celebrations when the fully deserved winner finally came :D

"Doncaster dominated the 2nd half" How DARE the BBC show such prejudiced and factually inacurate tat for Jo public to absorb? We UTTERLY mullered 'em throughout the half, the eventual winner, and maybe even more goals were more inevitable than the mass exodus of Donny fans from the stadium, well before the end of the match...they KNEW they had been WELL beaten by a better footballing side. The thug (no5) that masqueraded as a centre half needs some strong refs to burst his overbearing bubble before someone gets genuinely hurt!
Greatest Saturday of entertainment for many a year, watching a young enthusiastic confident team overcoming bruising, intimidating thugs !
Fabulous support from our lot, which I believe helped the lads tremendously. A superb performance all round.
Pride beyond measure being a Saddler once again...and we have a new cult hero I feel in the diminutive guise of Fabien Brandy, what a performance from him and Patterson particularly.
My hangover is just abated, I have no voice left, but my 'stupid' £100 bet that we would finish in the top six (which would net me £1200), is becoming ever more realistic!
Come on me babbies!!!
