The most important thing Walsall can do is replace the pace. Last season we had so much pace up front, and as Walsall fans, pace is a rare thing. We all yearned for it for years.

We can get away with dodgy pacey players now, because we play half decent football on the deck.

Id still like us to make a cheeky bid for Cuvelier again now, he can be the main man again.

waste of money, according to a fan i know his middlesborough career is on its arse. get him on loan and see how he does with an eye to a free. although he's responsible for possibly the single greatest performance i've seen in a walsall shirt (colchester utd at home) i ain't sure he's cut out for english lower league football. having said that, given our new philosophy and unprecedented sympathy from refs, he may flourish.

And the greatest ever impact on a game - coming on in the 5 - 2 against the monkey hangers.

He's proven himself as a class act in two separate spells playing for us, which suggests Smith knows how to manage him in the right way. If he's available and within our reach financially, we should definitely look to bring him back.

I'd love to see him return to the Banks's - as long as the deal suits us, of course.

I'd prefer Cuvelier over Ledesma, purely for the reasons I stated a while back. Cuvelier will add more on chilly nights at Oldham than Ledesma would. I get the feeling he's a player that will move from club to club throughout his career and stay nowhere for longer than 18 months purely based on the fact that he doesn't seem to settle well or become a consistent first teamer anywhere. If we offered him a 2 year deal, he'd sign it and be benched within 6 months I reckon.

What, Sam Johnstone - Season long loan, Scott Wagstaff, Rene Howe and Florent Cuvelier on loan?

Well, we know the first is true, as Smith said so! As for the rest . ........

Flo would also have a far greater sell on value than Ledesma, and far more potential to improve.

Sanchez Watt signed for Colchester on a 2 year deal last week in reference to the poster who commented earlier in this thread.

he also showed that for every scintillating performance there'd be a coupla anonymous ones too.

i also believe we should enquire, just not waste money with an offer for a player they no longer want.

The Wagstaff rumour's been around for a good while now, which to me gives the impression there could be something in it. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I'd argue that his scintillating performances would win more points than we'd drop as a result of him being quiet though. As I said, if we could get something agreed on our terms, he'd be a great addition to the squad. Smith knows how to get the best out of him, which seems to be something Tony Mowbray struggled with.

you could also argue that points gained from his performances kept us up 2 seasons running, i'm pretty sure we were relegated at half-time against hartlepools before he came on. i feel he'd fit our current system even more ably, so long as we got him for nothing.

Bax, Flo and Ledesma behind a striker... that sounds technical.

Love it.

I think we are pretty sorted in midfield. However, it would be nice to have Ledesma coming off the bench though. A real game changer who excels when he has a chance to show off and be a hero. Not sure about starting him on a wet winter night in Hartlepool though. Probably a why he has struggled in Middlesborough, it's a bit warmer down here in the south!

Depends on which bit of google you look at. Wikipedia says Devorn so I stand corrected as that is always accurate.
