Sheffield United (A) League 1 Tuesday 23/10/12.

Sat Oct 20, 2012 7:44 pm

Next up a trip to Yorkshire to face high flying unbeaten Sheffield United who occupy 3rd position in league 1 on 25 points from 13 played .

6 wins and 7 draws - 17 goals for 10 against .

Full home record
won 2 - drew 4 - lost 0 - 9 goals for 6 conceded .

last 6 league games

Yeovil - away - won 1-0
Notts County - home - drew 1-1
Hartlepool - away - won 2-1
Orient - away - won 1-0
Oldham - home - drew 1-1
Preston - away - won 1-0

Prediction : We should have got something at Bramell Lane last season throwing away a 2 goal lead sounds familiar .

Blades have to lose at some stage and we will get back to winning ways

Sheffield United 1 -2 Walsall

Anyone with any clarity on the ticket situation for this game?

Official site says Sheff Utd will decide whether they will make it all-ticket for us "nearer the time".

Does "nearer the time" mean Monday, Tuesday, five minutes before kick-off?

It won't be all ticket, neither Oldham or Notts Co were.

The confusion isn't whether the game's "all ticket" it's whether Sheff United can be bothered to sell tickets to away fans. Here's the quote from the O/S:

"Walsall fans have been allocated 240 reserved seat tickets for this game in the Jessica Ennis Stand. You are advised to purchase in advance as Sheffield United will be making a decision closer to the day on whether to make tickets available for purchase on the evening."

Presumably it's part of their cost-cutting measures (a bit like signing Darryl Westlake). But even if they don't want cash turnstiles why can't they sell tickets to away fans from their ticket office?

This hasn't been widely publicised and if PT hadn't brought it to my attention I'd have just turned up on Tuesday, £20 in hand, expecting to be let in to a football match. How naive of me. Don't fancy trusting the post to get me my ticket on Tuesday - and besides, I'll be at work when it arrives.

Sort it out Blades.

I can't quite believe that is an official statement. Is spontaniety dead in Sheffield?  An awful way to treat potential away supporters who may wish to 'pay on the night'. It's not as if they can afford to turn away custom, or that the stadium will be much more than 50% full.

PS - we'll sneak a cheeky 1-1 draw, Grigg for us.

Bad memories - when we sent the blades down i think it was 80-81 not sure but was at Bramall Lane when they invaded the pitch at the end. Ex boxer Mark Rees put his boots on his fists to fight his way off the pitch. went by coach returned by car couldn't get back to the coach random saddlers helped us out. never seen anything like it !

good memories - George Leito keeping us in the championship at Bramall Lane

Prediction 2-1 defeat with late goals for Sheff U due to us getting tired last 20 mins Butler to score for us.

No tickets available for Walsall fans on the night. Have been advised to ring Walsall ticket office and ask for tickets to be placed on team coach for delivery to Bramall Lane ticket office.

I went when Wolves played there a couple of years ago (my nephews r Dingles but I still talk to them!) when it was all ticket and they let u purchase tickets at their ticket office.

They didn't take cards though so don't spend all yer cash in The Cricketers Arms before.

92 tickets have been sold in advance, apparently.

Hate playing these midweek (again), it'd always be a reasonable turnout on a Saturday.

I have a sneaky feeling about this one, Utd 0-2 Saddlers Grigg on 3 minutes and Holden on 95 minutes, 17,182 in attendance with 241 Saddlers watching! (But don't bet on it!)

I'm still not totally convinced, having spoken to the Sheff United ticket office this afternoon as to whether away fans could buy tickets on the night...thier response..."We don't know, till tomorrow!" "Though at no home match this season has there been an occasion when visiting supporters could not buy a ticket on the day"....and this is from an outfit who think they are a Premiership outfit in waiting!! :? :?

I'm going, but anyone who has not been before and hasn't got a ticket, you have to go to the ticket office in the main stand.
Don't be put off by the long queue...this is home supporters...just bypass this mass and go straight in to the ticket office, the away window is on the far right.

Though the management think they are a Premiership outfit, and the facilities and outward appearance signify that is where they belong, the team has not lived up to the billing in recent times...despite this they are currently well out of our league and a defeat is on the cards, though Butler will score, they will knock in at least four. My tip for automatic promotion this season (but dow tell MMF!)
