Q.P.R.(a) Capital One Cup 2nd round 28/8/12
Just been reading an article on QPR's spending since getting promoted to the Premiership. Mark Hughes has a very experienced squad at his disposal, and descriptions such as ambitious, extravagant, highly risky (among others) have been used.
The additions already this summer of Ji-Sung Park (Man Utd, £2.5 million), Robert Green (West Ham, free), Junior Hoilett (Blackburn, tribunal), Ryan Nelson (Spurs, free) and Andrew Johnson (Fulham, free) supplement the existing signings since promotion of Kieron Dyer, Luke Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Anton Ferdinand, Nedum Onuoha, Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora. Real Madrid's Ricardo Carvalho and England centre-back Michael Dawson are still negotiating, and Jose Bosingwa is another new arrival.
QPR's last published accounts (2010-11) revealed an operating loss of £25.7 million, and the next accounts could be more eye-watering still......
They managed to lose 0-5 at home to Swansea City on the opening day, and only drew at Norwich at the week-end, with Cisse's penalty being saved by John Ruddy
Can't see us winning this, QPR need the revenue of a cup run just as much as we do (perhaps even more). However the fact that much of their squad are yet to "gel" may be to our advantage. We have no further injury problems after Meadow Lane, but Febian Brandy and Richard Taundry are still probably out of contention.
Prediction? Who can tell....if we come away with a draw I'll be really impressed, but I think a 3-1 defeat is on the cards.

Apparently wage to turnover is 183%.
Scary.

The next Portsmouth. If (and by that I mean when) they go down they're finished.

3-0 to QPR, if they play there second string, with the likes of Andy Johnson,Shaun Wright-Phillips etc
However we do need a performance to build on Saturdays result, next three games will go some way in shaping our season imho
QPR, Brentford who are better than the cup game also they know first hand how we play and will have a plan. Followed by MK Dons well fancied this season. Come through those relatively unscathed and we will be well set up for Pompey.
The quality of the reported new faces will be key, striker left back and Sam Mantom :D

Re: Q.P.R.(a) Capital One Cup 2nd round 28/8/12
In the last ten years (since Colin Lee's first match at Charlton) the only team from a higher division we have knocked out of a cup is Plymouth back in August 2006, when they were in the Championship and we were in League Two. Richard Money brought Scott Dann on as a late substitute for the less than impressive Carlos Manuel Fangueiro, and Dann scored the only goal with five minutes to go.
In the last ten years we have been knocked out of cup competitions by teams from lower divisions seven times.

Yeah, and look what's happened to them since.
When we knock a team out of the cup, they stay knocked out!

I've got a surefire plan to get a win at QPR, a plan so cunning it would confound a fox that had graduated from cunning university. A foolproof way to get a result. It's simple, guaranteed and virtually risk and cost free....

I think it will be worse - at least Pompey can pretend to have a "history" what have QPR got - all I can think of is Stanley Bowles , arguably the most talented Drunk to play the beautiful game between Bestie and Gazza
this is the year we repeat 90 minutes from Europe -Deano and Oompa Loompa's for a magic cup run - 3-1 victory

We have never won at QPR in league or cup to my knowledge so that run to continue unfortunately, tight game but 2-1 to QPR

According to that our all time record at QPR is:
P23, W0, D6, L17
With that in mind, I'm going for a 2-1 win with goals from both of our young Internationals.

Head-to-heads are irrelevant, particularly given most of those are before the 1970's...

And they've lost their last 3 league cup ties to teams from lower leagues so i just can't see it happening for a fourth time.

How the hell is that squad wage bill sustainable on crowds of 19,000? I know the owner is reputed to have funds but that just sounds daft.
Hope we beat 'em, feckers

Re: Q.P.R.(a) Capital One Cup 2nd round 28/8/12
Morning chaps.
I am going to be driving from Brum and hoping to arrive on time. Google suggests close to 2 and a half hours in current traffic (9.00am) so I am guessing it might be similar tonight.
I haven't done this trip before so does anyone with past experience think I will be okay if I leave Brum at about 5pm?

I'm going from Brum too mate. I'd give it a bit longer than that to be fair if you can. Bit of traffic and a parking nightmare is all it takes to throw a spanner in the works.

Nice one thanks. Will try and get away a bit earlier then. Might also park a bit further out and tube it to White City to save on any risk of traffic around the ground.

Can't see anything but a QPR win as we do our usual thing and kick start someone's season.
But it's the cup so you never know
I've changed my mind 2-1 Walsall :D

Any radio commentary tonight?
With WBA, Villa and Birmingham playing I'm assuming we wont be on WM.

No James Chambers then. I hope that's not a sign that he's left.
