Telford v Walsall
Hemmings looks good. Not impressed by much else! Apart from Wacca looks a bit slimmer!

Maybe you should check the spelling of the player's name
So he isn't John's little brother then :?

Clearly I have been watching too many musicals.
For Borrowman read Bowerman.

Re: AFC Telford United (A) Friendly Tuesday 24 July
Boring match, two teams of eleven played.
Only recognised two trialists, James Chambers who had a decent 45mins and Brandy.
No team sheet was handed in, so no one had a clue.
Who was the right winger in the second half?
Paterson was the only player to go off injured.
Steve Jones played for Telford, can still play a bit...

Re: Telford v Walsall
Just got back, good turnout by the walsall fans and a game of two halves really- telford outshone us in the first half and we dominated the second, we seemed to have much more flair in the second period with the introduction of a whole new line up.
Grof- Solid as ever, made a few good stops and was strong in the air
Walker- Didn't have anything to do in the second half
Butler-Solid as ever, the usual, what you expect from him really
Taundry- Looked solid enough but has his moments, don't really trust him in the defence, or the midfield...or at all really. good backup player?
Number 6 (Anyone Know who he is)- Looked OK, nothing outstanding in all fairness
Jones- Looked OK at left back but looked much more comfortable on the wing, looked quite promising there
Holden- When he came on looked very good, a good addition i hope!
James Chambers - When he came on he did look good in all fairness, steady and experienced
Cuvelier- Classy as ever, pulls the strings in the middle of the park
Nicky Featherstone(Number 15)- Looked alright at times, better option than sammons (number 6) IMO
Paterson- Could this be his breakthrough season? played in the middle of the park today and was a class act, seems like his started to mature over the past few months
Sammons- Didn't look all that great, didnt do anything bad but certainly didnt stand out
Adam Chambers- Was impressed by him today, did well in the holding role
Brandy- Looked a promising prospect, quick and skilful but my god hes tiny!
Hemmings-Also very impressed by him, seemed to know what he was doing (not a bad start for a professional footballer! ;) )
Grigg- Woeful, so weak on the ball, pushed off the ball at all times
Bowerman- Linked up with the midfield well but there is room for improvement
Number 10- looked decent, didnt stand out but didnt do anything wrong either
Also a special mention to number 16, no clue who he is (looked like luke chadwick to me) but my god he looked good, sign him up now smithy!
Sorry if i missed any of the other trialists out!
Overall, decent start but certainly room for improvement

Re: Telford v Walsall
James Chambers played right back second half. We need a target man, centre half and a left back, that is obvious.

Disagree with a lot of this.
Paterson - did ok but wouldn't say a class act.
Cuvelier - didn't do all that much but ticked over.
Holden - very good ? Really? Nothing more than ok.
Grigg - woeful? Bit harsh. Made some nice runs which weren't picked out and had a few half chances. Does need to be stronger though.
Overall a decent enough game and did what it needed for fitness and to have a look at trialists in a match situation. Let's wait for a couple more games before jumping to any conclusions.

You're love in with Grigg is hilarious. FBS, I've never seen you say a bad word about him, even when he's deserved it for playing utterly gash.
I couldn't rate the players if paid me to do so, I couldn't recognise most of them.

Re: AFC Telford United (A) Friendly Tuesday 24 July
YAWNNN is the best word to describe that match.
we didnt have 1 shot on target that i remember, could say around 3-4 times we got the ball wide a put a cross in.
first half w ejust seemed like we had no game plan or tactics, everything went sideways or backwards, only brandy looked like he wanted to shift through the gears and get something from the game, we still played a few lofted balls to a go who comes up to most peoples hips, but to his credit unlike evey striker we have had over the last couple of seasons this can jump and get himself in a good position to have some effect on the ball.
i just feel a little bit cheated, kind of wish the club would warn fans in advance that shooting and attacking play will be non existent and we will just be working on shape (lol) and keep ball.
one thing that had me coming away with abit of enthusiasm was the lad who played right back or right mid, only player who really looked to have a positive first touch and work an oppening.
its not doom and gloom because deano could put the strongest 11 out at the start and we could look a tidy team, but judging on this display in the words of our darth vader 'it was nothing more than a glorified kick about'
night.

opinions are opinions, certainly just essentially a fitness exercise though- we will see a real 'team' as such take shape over the next few games i hope.

Haha. Said he needs to be stronger but deffo wasn't woeful.
No idea of back 4 other than butler in first half. Who was 7 in first half? 16 did look good in 2nd half - very lively.
Thought Telford looked half decent - big strong side. Nice setup there actually!

Seriously? What did you expect for a first pre-season friendly against non-league opposition 3 weeks before the season started? :o
